Little heart breaker

All eyes were on Jenny as they watched what she was doing. No one dared to say anything except Vivian and her crew, who hadn't noticed Jason in the crowd. Even if they did, they might not have stopped digging their own graves as they thought they were doing him a favor. A favor he might repay by turning one of them into his fiance. "Look at her. Just when I thought she couldn't get any more horrible. She goes to refill her plate without even trying to help up the crying boy." "Do you think you are too good to pick up a child from the floor?" "Yeah, Just because his hands are a bit smudged, she treats him like he has some kind of disease. Five minutes into our circles and already feels like she is queen of the world." The other guests didn't know what to do or think. Though these girls were taking things way too far, if what they said was the truth then that would mean that the famous fiance was a horrible person and deserved to be infamous instead. There was no denying her dress being dirtied and it was seemingly done by the boy that was no older than three or four years, who was bawling his eyes out on the floor. Jenny ignored all of them. Including the obnoxious women causing this commotion in the first place. What she had been worried about had happened when she dropped her guard for just a moment. Now that it had happened, all she could do was try to salvage what could be salvaged.

Disregarding their harsh words, Jenny asked the employee behind the buffet for a steamed towel and thanked him before walking back to the boy whose sobbing had calmed down a bit. She got on her knees and started cleaning his face and hands while calming him down. "Why are you crying sweet boy? Did you get hurt anywhere? Let big sister take a look at you. Look at you all covered in cake." He shook his head to let her know he wasn't hurt, before saying "But, but I dirtied your dress", the little boy stammered as his tears started to flow again. "It's just a dress. I have dozens of dresses as I have a jealous prince who likes to spoil me." She replied as she winked to the boy. He finally calmed down as he excitedly asked her more questions "Really?! A prince. Then does that mean you are a princess? Where is your crown? Doesn't a princess wear a crown?" "Shh, it's our secret. A crown is so heavy to wear, so I left it at home." She placed a finger in front of her lips and made a key locking a door gesture in front of her lips. The little boy followed her example as he too placed his finger in front of his lips and made a "shh" sound. Jenny laughed at the adorableness of the boy in front of her and cleaned off the last bit of cake on his tiny little suit. "There, all done! Now you are back to looking like a dashing young man again." She said as she smiled to the boy in front of her. As she looked at the cleaned up fellow in front of her, she started to notice how pretty he actually was. Long lashes, deep blue eyes, dark haired curls. "Well aren't you a little heart breaker." She sighed, confusing him. His confused expression caused Jenny to chuckle. The crowd, including Vivian, her friends and Jason, looked at their interaction and Jason smiled gently as he watched her. She had done better than all his expectations. Jenny was truly a woman worth his love and admiration. The entire crowd was singing words of praise and Vivian saw green with jealousy.

Though this whole situation felt like it had lasted for half an hour, it was actually no more than five. So when the little boys mother returned from the restroom and walked up to the crowd with the hope of finding her son and the fear of finding him in the center of that crowd, she found what she had dreaded. Once she reached the front of the crowd, she spotted him on the floor with cake all around him and hurried towards him in embarrassment. "James, what have you done?! Didn't mommy tell you not to move from you seat? I only went to the restroom for a few minutes, how did you cause all of this trouble?" "Don't worry madam. It's nothing. He had a little accident, but we took care of it already, didn't we little James?" She gave the boy a meaningful look and another wink as to let him know it was fine and she would take care of it. As Jenny stood up, the damage to her dress was revealed to the mother who gasped and covered her mouth with her hand. "What do you mean, it's nothing?! Your beautiful dress is ruined. How will I ever make it up to you. That dress must be priceless." "Oh no such thing. I got to meet your wonderful son. That is worth much more than a simple dress. I will go to the washroom to try and fix what I can and if not, then there is no use to cry over spilled milk. I will simply go home and change. I was about to leave anyways. So really, don't worry about it. These kinds of events can be quite boring for small children. All they have to entertain them is the good food. If we ruin even that for them, then we might as well not let them attend them anymore. Besides, it was me who wasn't paying any attention, so I should be sorry for ruining his sharp suit. I simply fixed the damage I caused, right James?" The little boy simply blushed as his mother turned to look at him and said nothing. The woman showed Jenny a grateful smile and thanked her once more before walking away with him, while reprimanding him a bit. She knew Jenny was simply being kind and trying to make him feel better. This allowed her to still walk away from that situation with her head held high. If it had been any other of those stuck up ladies, they would have demanded an apology and a compensation right then and there. They wouldn't have let her little boy off without her kneeling on the ground before them or might have slapped him, something which had happened once before. Causing the little boys initial fears and cries when he bumped into Jenny. As the spectacle had ended, the crowd started to disperse and Vivian and her friends tried to escape in the confusion. However these efforts were futile as Jason was sure to avenge Jenny.
