Little Don Juan

While Eva continued to work on getting her growing feelings across to Charlie, continuing her games of guess which twin I am and not wasting a second to go look for him as soon as she entered the Westwood residence. Sam was working on his crush on Fiona in his own way. After successfully getting a duet with the girl he liked, he slowly inched closer to her heart. After another couple of weeks, his hard work paid off in the form of her allowing him to walk her home after their classes and the practices at his home. Turning his one-sided crush, where she was barely aware of his existence, into a friendship with a layer of something extra that hadn't been shaped into something definable yet.

With each week, month and year that passed, both couples grew closer. With both crushes just waiting for that final push that would turn it into a relationship. While this was playing out, the parents watched silently as the initially budding romances grew and waited for them to become ready to bloom. This first push resulting into romance blooming was on Sam's side. His push would prove to be the trigger for a chain reaction leading his friend into becoming ready to give a push of his own.

Sam, who was ready to make his move, did so on an evening when they had predicted a star shower. On this evening, he asked the girl, who was only waiting for him to call her his girlfriend, to meet him outside after dark. He snuck out of the house with snacks and blankets in hand and walked for twenty minutes to Fiona's house, where she was already waiting for him by the door to the backyard in her pyjamas which she had covered with a thick coat to shield her from the night's cold temperatures. While Sam was sneaking around in the dark, Nick followed his son by car after giving him a head start of a few minutes since his son's destination was clear to him and he didn't want to ruin what he thought was about to go down.

From a small distance, Nick was proudly looking at his son, who had thought he had snuck out of the house undetected. He saw him meet up with Fiona and watched how his son confidently grabbed the hand of the girl he liked as he helped her towards the covered pool where their date was taking place. Nick saw that his son, the little charmer, had brought out a blanket from their home and had placed it down on the damp grass in Fiona's backyard and another one to cover the two of them as they gazed at the stars. All the while, he was holding on tightly to her hand. Causing Nick to grin like a fool as he watched this scene unfold from inside the car.

With both her son and husband nowhere to be found, it didn't take long for Elizabeth to call Nick up and ask where he was and if he had seen their thirteen year old son who wasn't lying in his bed. She had been out at a work event and had left Nick in charge of the kids, only to find one of their kids missing along with the person in charge. Nick quickly put her worries at ease. "Don't worry about our little Don Juan. I am with him right now. He is at Fiona's house, watching the star shower with her under one of our blankets. I think he is going to ask her to become his girlfriend tonight. So, I am waiting with scolding him for sneaking out of the house until after his little date is done." Elizabeth chuckled as she shook her head. "Like father, like son. Though I do wonder since when the son became more of a romantic than the father as I was expecting a date for tonight as well. Instead my husband is out crashing our son's date and has left our daughters unattended at home."

Nick, who knew that he would receive a comment on his leaving their sleeping daughters at home alone, had come prepared. "They might be alone but they aren't unattended. I used the time for Sam's head start to get the baby monitor out and placed it inside of their room. I am watching them sleep as we speak and I took the car to come here. So, if anything had happened I would be able to rush back in just five minutes. Plus, the neighbours were still awake. So, I asked Debra if she could keep an eye out just in case as well." Elizabeth took all the information in before she said, "Hmm, very well. It seems you were responsibly irresponsible. But let me ask you this, would Debra notice a fire, a gas-leak or even a break-in in time to take action? Would she risk her own life to save our babies if she should notice? Those five minutes would could and be essential during things like that. So, don't EVER do something like this without discussing it with me first or it might just be the last thing you do."

Hearing the chill in her voice, despite the laugh that followed her words, told Nick that his preparation hadn't been enough for an ice queen who now also possessed part momma bear characteristics. Since she was letting this one slide, he should just see it as a romance miracle brought on by his son's big date and handle his evenings alone with the kids even more responsibly irresponsible. But for now he didn't want to think about any potential trouble back home, because his boy had just done it! Though he was too far away to hear their words, he didn't need to. Because the act he saw was an universal sign. His son had not only managed to ask his crush of almost five years to become his girlfriend but he had also just gotten his first kiss as well! Proving that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree as his son was moving just as fast as he used to. But something told him that though Sam had acted fast, he wasn't being a player as the first girl he had worked as hard for as his son had for Fiona, had turned into his wife.
