Little baby Sam

Once Jenny and Jason started talking about the event that was coming closer with every passing minute, they continued for quite some time. From discussing if and who else would be in the delivery room, to when she wanted to receive the first visitors after giving birth and what she wanted to have for in the post-delivery room. After a lengthy conversation they ended up deciding that Mary would be the only other person in there with her and that all other people, aside from Jason's parents, would be allowed to visit until after she had been brought into the post-delivery room. She wanted to be able to save those first moments with their son for just him and their parents. As it was a truly special moment for them and should therefore be shared with those who thought it equally special.

Plus, she wanted to be able to freshen up and have some rest before she would have a wave of visitors. She had seen how exhausted Elizabeth looked and Jenny felt bad that in that state Elizabeth had forced herself to waste what little energy she had on entertaining them. Sharing her short moment of being awake, that she could spend with her son, with them instead. She didn't like crowds on a normal day, much less right after hours of labour. She was sure that their friends would understand this decision, having gone through the other options themselves. Her decision was certainly a stark contrast to what Elizabeth had chosen to do but was a lot earlier than what Sophia had allowed on the day Henry was born. Only accepting visitors the day after the birth. Though in her case, with a delivery so late in the day, it was logical that she would chose a good night's rest over visitors, who she wished the same.

Plans were made to have her brothers and friends flown in on the Westwood private jet as a group as soon as they could all gather after receiving a call from the call tree that they would set in place. That way they wouldn't have to depend on airline schedules and procedures and it would allow them to all be picked up at the same time. Instead of wasting time on multiple pickups. The moment that her contractions would start, either Jason himself or one of the parents would inform the others through the group chat, so that they could make their way over to the airport. Her brothers having the task of calling anyone who didn't respond in the Netherlands and Julia being tasked with the same responsibility for those in England. As for the items Jenny wants in the recovery room, they would be bought plenty in advance. Preventing any shopping requirements on the day of. When all was discussed and planned for, they finally turned in for the night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two days had passed and Elizabeth had been discharged from the hospital. Finally she and Nick could take little baby Sam home and to his nursery. The last two days were spent letting Elizabeth practice with breastfeeding, while Nick was tasked to pay attention at the bathing process. Though they had taken classes before the actual birth, seeing it done in real life with a real baby, their baby, by a trained professional, was still a valuable lesson. After getting their final check-ups they were allowed to leave the room that they had lived in for the last 48 hours.
When they got home, finally arriving in the familiar environment where they planned on spending the first two years of their baby's life, the real experience as first time parents began. After graduation they planned on moving into a bigger house and consider the further expansion of their family. But for now this little bugger was more than they could handle. Which was proven to them during their first few weeks back at home.
Nick and Elizabeth had agreed early on that Nick would be the one answering the night calls of their son so that Elizabeth could save her energy for during the day. That was the time when Nick would have to pay attention to his classes and wouldn't be able to help as much as he could during his off time. Plus, breastfeeding takes nutrients away from the mother, meaning she would have one thing working against her already energy wise. Recovering from child birth, which had been no pick nick either, was another reason that Elizabeth would be needing all the rest she could get.
Luckily, they had been smart enough to take up Nick's paternity leave after the nurse would stop coming. That way Elizabeth would have fulltime assistance for four weeks, instead of two. Hoping that Elizabeth would be mostly recovered by then and be able to help out with some of the night feedings as well. Nick's flexible schedule proved to be a lot of help as well, as he could plan his classes in a way that they would overlap with the hours that the nurse was present and after his paternity leave was over, he planned on scheduling them during the times that their son was taking a nap. In the first few months Sam would be on a tight schedule that existed mostly of sleeping, eating and pooping and Elizabeth would be napping with him to save her energy. Nick figured that this would leave the house feeling empty and quiet for him and that it would make it quite easy for him to take classes digitally. Though they had it all planned out. Reality was proving a lot harder than they anticipated.
Here we are with chapter number one and the second one is on its way! I hope you enjoy and tomorrow I will be back with two more chapters
