Jenny's perspective

As Jason had made a promise to Nick and since his friend's parents as well as his child could arrive any moment, he had no time to waste on scolding Jenny for what he was currently witnessing. A scene that was as bad as he had imagined it to be. Without saying a single word to the anxiously, awkwardly laughing Jenny, he grabbed the bags she was holding and took them to room where the others were finishing up with the decorations. When he entered the room, the others could feel the chilly air coming off him and thought it best not to ask any questions regarding what had gotten him in this state, when he was doing fine just moments ago. Just before he walked back out he yelled out, "Jenny and I will be picking up Nick's parents.". Leaving the others just as confused as they were when he walked in.

After dropping the bags and communicating their absence to the others, Jason walked straight back to where he had left Jenny behind. She had started making her way to Elizabeth's post-delivery room as well but before she could reach her destination, the much faster Jason had already returned and grabbed her hand in the middle of her path. Despite Jenny's questions about where they were going, Jason remained silent as he pulled her in the opposite direction of the room and back into the elevator she had come from. Rendering her initial rush back futile. Jenny tried talking to Jason again, in hopes that the closed off room where they were alone, would allow him to say what he couldn't in a crowded hospital. But it was to no avail as Jason remained silent during the entire ride down and looked at the metal doors with a clenched jaw.

Despite his current mood, Jason kept Jenny's slower pace in mind as he walked in silence from the elevator to their parked car and made sure not to hold Jenny's hand too tight as they did. A hand he didn't let go of until they had reached the car and he opened the door to the passenger's seat. Once he had helped her take a seat, he fastened the seatbelt and closed the door. Meanwhile Jenny kept waiting anxiously for him to start talking. Though what he had to say couldn't be pleasant, it was better than the silent treatment she was receiving now. But when Jason got in on the driver's side of the car and took his seat, he remained silent. He turned on the car and proceeded to drive out of the garage, still not uttering a single word as he did.

When they were close to the exit of the garage Jenny had enough and decided to break the silence herself. Despite knowing she was the one mostly in the wrong here, she couldn't help herself as she angrily asked him, "If you were just planning on ignoring me the whole ride over, why did you bother taking me with you at all?!" After another moment of silence, Jason finally started to speak as he said, "Well, even if I don't feel like talking to you, apparently I am forced to take you along everywhere I go. If I don't, then there is no telling what my dear stubborn wife will do. So, the only option left is for me to keep you by my side until we are back at home and I can tie you to the bed to make sure you don't do any of the foolish things you insist on doing."

Feeling a small jab from his words and the emotions behind them, Jenny swallowed before she answered, "Well... Like I said before, it wasn't as bad as it looked. I was simply helping a friend. Your friend quite frankly. I made you a promise to not endanger my health and I didn't." Jason turned to look at her in disbelief for a brief moment before turning back to the road. "Oh really?! Then what do you call you carrying all those bags around like some kind of packing mule? Am I supposed to regard that as you taking care of your health and making it your number one priority like you promised me you would?"

"Oh come on. I just went to buy a few things in the stores across the hospital and walked a bit too fast causing my breathing to sound rushed like that. You need to trust that I can judge what I can and cannot handle. I know everyone is worried about me and wants to take care of me. You especially. BUT you all need to realize that I am pregnant, not terminally ill. I can carry a few light bags without causing harm to myself. And I wouldn't harm our child. Not intentionally. Now if it makes you feel more at ease to keep my by your side, then be my guest. I don't consider that a punishment at all!" Hearing these words Jason glanced back and forth between Jenny and the road. With each glance his annoyance seemed to dissipate and his calm self started to return. Allowing him to think about the situation from a different perspective. ...Jenny's perspective.

Trying to figure out if he had maybe overreacted to the situation, Jason became a bit lost in thought as he drove up to the short term parking lanes of the airport. He was wondering if his own inexperience to the situation hadn't gotten the best of him. In the end the one pregnant wasn't him. So, it is not like he knew what Jenny was feeling. He could read as many books as he liked, but that still wouldn't allow him to know what she was experiencing. Maybe in his quest to protect mother and child, combined with his worries of being a first time parent, he had gone too far?
