Inform the family

With the risk of sounding greedy, Jenny continued. "I want to have the custom made one as my engagement ring and if possible I want to use the other as my wedding ring. What do you say?" Jason's eyes became wider and he was a bit shocked. This was one outcome he had not predicted. Sure he had already planned to gift Jenny the sapphire ring to complete her set if she had picked the family heirloom, but he had planned to return The proposal ring to the safe if she had picked the sapphire one. Not thinking it would be something she would wear casually. It hadn't even crossed his mind that she would pick both rings and much less that she would suggest using them for occasions that would require her to wear both rings everyday.

The possessive and jealous side of him loved it. This would scare a lot of pesky guys away and make them know they weren't good enough for him. Plus it meant she loved his design. He was worried whether she would like it or not, but it being her first choice told him plenty. "What do I say? I say that is a brilliant idea. It does surprise me how fast you got over your fear of getting robbed, but no backsies allowed. You proposed it, you accept it." Jason said with a content smile. Jenny's face showed her shock. Clearly letting both parties in the room know she had not thought about that in her quickly conceived plan. She was only concerned with not wanting either ring nor the stories behind them "go to waste". It only now dawned to Jenny what she had done to herself. He was right. She would be walking with not one crazy expensive ring, but with two. Jenny slumped down a bit, but quickly decided those would be worries for the future. For now she was happy and she wasn't going to let anything spoil this day. She gave Jason a glare to let him get rid of his cocky grin, but he wasn't impressed. They resumed enjoying dessert and thought of their plan for tomorrow. Not only was it Jenny's last day here, they had to inform their parents of the news and decide how to go about Jenny's move to England. A lot had to be taken care of, but luckily the excitement of today had made them lose any sense of tiredness or sleep.

Soon the next day arrived and it was time for them to inform the family. They decided they would each inform their own respective side of the family separately. In Jenny's case this included her mother and brothers. On Jason's side it was just his parents for now. The other announcements would be made after Jenny had left and the Westwoods wouldn't be the Westwoods if they hadn't started preparing a grand engagement party the moment they heard the news. They would plan it for when Jenny returns and would use this occasion to inform their close relatives and friends. Normal wealthy families would use this chance to tell the news to business partners and other important connections, but they knew that Jason would hold it against them and didn't think Jenny was the type to enjoy that either. Now that things were finally taking a turn for the better in terms of their relationship with their son, a dispute over something like that wasn't worth it. Besides those things were done to solidify their position in the business world. It is a chance to show who your successor is and to show they were building stability in their life and might have the next generation heir shortly as well. But they didn't need Jason for that. They were such a large enterprise, no one would dare oppose them and they didn't need more solidification. When Jason was ready for taking over the business, they would talk about such parties then.

Jenny's mother couldn't help have mixed feelings about the news. On the one hand she was happy that her daughter had found someone she wanted to marry. On the other hand she knew it meant her moving away. Moving to another country. She wouldn't be able to her everyday, not even every week, probably not even every month. She would have to make due with some video-calls. Her brothers weren't willing to admit it, but they too would miss their little sister. The guy who was planning to marry their sister would have to get passed them. So they would have to wait and see whether he would pass their tests and questioning. They were occupying their minds with thoughts like this to keep them busy. Everyone was busy processing the news in their own way and time was passing by very quickly. Too quickly for all parties involved, because the time had come for Jenny to return to The Netherlands and get her affairs in order so that she could move to England permanently. Were some were sad that she was leaving already, others were sad that once she returned she would be preparing to leave for good. They took comfort in the fact that the countries weren't far apart and they would be able to visit each other a lot.
