Inevitable goodbye

After some heartfelt talks, some planned visits and many spontaneous get togethers, the weeks had flown by. With two additional kilograms of added weight each, from all the delicious food and the large festive dinners they were having, the summer vacation had almost come to an end and so had their time in the Netherlands. As the final week of the summer break had arrived, it was time for Jenny and Jason to go back to England. This would leave them with a bit of time to unpack and prepare for another school year. In the past weeks Jenny and Jason had gotten closer to each other and had learned more about each other's pasts. Both of their main goals for this vacation had also been achieved. Jenny had gotten to spend time with her mother and brothers, as well as her extended family. In Jason's case, he had gotten the chance to get to know Jenny's side of the family a bit better and this visit had given them the chance to get to know him as well. Not only that, but he had even managed to become closer to Jenny's brothers. All their animosity had disappeared, and they had started to become friendly with one another. They might not be at the friend or brother level yet, but there was definite improvement and no hard feelings anymore.

Well... except for her eldest brother. As soon as he would catch Jason looking in Jenny's direction, her brother would shoot him a murderous glare. Only to be snapped back to reality when he caught a glimpse of Jenny's ring or saw Jason's awkward smile. The other day, he even blocked Jason's path when he tried to go into the kitchen after Jenny, to help her do the dishes. Only Jenny tapping him on the shoulder and asking him what was wrong, made him realize what he was doing. And let's not forget what her brother had done during a day of playing volleyball with the three brothers and a few of her cousins. Each time it was her brother's turn to serve or the ball was high in the air, he would spike the ball at Jason's face. Hitting it with as much strength as his body could put into it. Luckily, Jason had good reflexes, so he was able to avoid getting hit directly, but that only seemed to fuel her brother's annoyance more.

It wasn't until her brother had asked him for a walk with just the two of them, that he got to understand where these feelings of his were coming from and found out that he had in fact already started to accept him. Making it go from a godfather "you will be sleeping with the fishes tonight" kind of scene, to two brothers in law getting to know each other scene. Her brother told him that sometimes he still viewed Jenny like the little girl in diapers he had carried around or the little girl in pig tails that would follow him around all day, much like Jenny's mother had done for so long and probably sometimes still did. This made him have a more difficult time trusting Jason and being kind to him, the guy who was courting his sister. After that talk Jason started observing him more carefully and could tell that her brother was genuinely trying to be kind to him, but it appeared protecting Jenny from the "bad guys" had become like a second nature for him. By keeping that in mind, Jason was able to become more understanding of her brother and was able to become more relaxed around him. To help them get along, he even started inviting her brother along for games and activities, whenever he had the chance. Therefore, for their last day here, Jason and Jenny had decided to spend the day apart.

Jason would use today to spend some more time with her brothers, going out to the paintball centre together. When he informed Jenny of their plans, she was surprised at how relaxed Jason was while saying these words. She too had seen how rough her brothers had treated Jason these past few weeks and she had given them a good scolding not too long ago. Though it seemed to have the desired effect on two of her brothers, the oldest one seemed like he couldn't help himself. But Jason assured her that he too meant well, and this was a chance for them to bond. Jenny lifted her hand in front of her chest as she said "Hey, if you say so I'm fine with it. I'm happy you want to spend more time with my brothers. If this helps you guys get along, I'll drop you off myself." However underneath her breath she whispered "Yeah, bringing guns into that mix sounds like a perfect idea...". Of course, she said this loud enough for Jason to hear, causing him to grab her by her waist and drop them both onto the bed. He was towering over her as he threateningly said "Did I just hear you mocking me? Care to repeat those words, hm?" Jenny decided to poke the bear as she played along and got ready to repeat her words "Well...I was just saying...". But before she got a chance to continue, Jason had already started kissing her.

After sharing a sweet moment together, Jenny and Jason left the room as they each went their own way till, they would meet up again later tonight. Out front Jenny's brothers had come to pick Jason up and had dropped their mother off on the way. She would be spending today with Jenny, who wanted to use their last day here to spend some quality time with her mother, before they would have to say goodbye again. She had decided to ironically do one of the most British things you can do in the Netherlands, which is going on a high tea. Jenny was a sucker for tea and sweets, so for her this was a perfect getaway. Her sweet tooth hadn't come from a stranger, so Mary's was quite happy with her pick as well. As a bonus, she got a quiet activity that gave them plenty of room to talk. So, with bittersweet emotions they sat across from each other in front of a large towered platter with all kinds of bite size wraps, sandwiches, cakes, and chocolates. Each with a large cup of tea in hand, grabbed a snack to their liking as they chatted away. Ignoring the inevitable goodbye that was waiting for them at the end of this day.

I want to start today's "thought" with a thanks to Humaira_Jarjisa and Fill_Harris for their power stones for yesterday's chapter. I am glad you liked it. I also want to thank Humaira_Jarjisa for joining me in the comment section.

Today's chapter will wrap up this eventful summer they have been having and make way for their flight back to England. I tried getting it done earlier today, but an earlier release doesn't seem an option right now. Though it won't stop me from trying, I don't want to make promises I can't keep.

I hope you will like today's release and I will see you all tomorrow again!
