I missed you

The dialogue between James and Jason, however softly done, had slowly woken up Jenny as well. Not being a morning person at all and having gone to bed so late after an early morning yesterday, made her wake up with a bit of a grumble. That was until James turned around to face her. He sat up in the bed and he knelt beside her. He looked down at her face with his clear eyes and chubby rosy cheeks, waiting for her to fully wake up. Being met with such an angelic face with his adorable pyjama's, the little ears popping up from above his hoodie, her initial bad mood completely disappeared, and she couldn't help but smile and pull the boy in for a hug. "Argh, how can you be so cute!" James chuckled in her embrace and returned her hug. Now that they had all woken up, it was time for them to head downstairs for breakfast as James's mother would be picking him up in an hour.

All three of them sat at the breakfast table in their pyjama's, allowing Susan a bit more time of seeing James dressed as a panda bear cub. They enjoyed breakfast together, making it seem like a big happy family of parents, with their children and grandchildren. Considering how young Jason's parents still were, James could also have been an afterthought of Susan and Stephen themselves after having two children in a short period of time. After just one day, James had managed to steal a spot in the hearts of all the people at the Westwood residence. So, when his mother was at the door to take the boy back home with her, they were all sad to part with him. Admitted, some were sadder than others, but all of them would miss the little angelic boy in one way or another. Despite knowing when Mrs. Smith would be coming and having gone down to eat breakfast well on time, they had still managed to lose track of the time and be surprised by her arrival. They were in the middle of another cup of tea when Garry walked into the dining room to announce the arrival of Mrs. Smith, making the mood in the room change instantly. "I am sorry to disturb your meal, but Mrs. Smith has arrived to take young master James back to the Smith residence." Considering the boy was still in his pyjama's, Susan asked for Garry to offer James's mother a cup of tea as well while they would get him ready to leave.

When Garry walked out again to offer Mrs. Smith the proposed drink, the Westwoods got ready to greet their guest along with little James. "It seems your ride is here champ." Stephen said as he got up. The boy nodded with a mixture of feeling sad and happy. He was sad to be leaving after having such a great time, but he had to admit that he had missed his mom and was happy to see her again. "Let's go see your mom." Jenny said as she lowered herself to eye level with James. "I bet you miss her by now." She continued with a wink. "Yeah...I did." James said without looking up. Jason stood behind Jenny and placed his hands on her shoulders as he said, "Go on, I'll carry him." With a soft warm voice. Jenny turned and accepted his offer with a nod and a smile as Jason lifted the absent-minded James. Jason had noticed last night that James was heavier than he looked, and he didn't want Jenny to carry him, especially not up the stairs. Getting no protest from the boy, Jason took his chance and took it as the result of his efforts from last night and this morning.

One by one they walked out of the dining room and greeted Mrs. Smith. Susan and Stephen, who were the only ones of their party to have gotten dressed before heading down for breakfast, walked out first. Immediately followed by Jason with little James sitting comfortably in his arms and Jenny right behind them, holding onto Jason's arm. She was feeling a bit uncomfortable to be standing in her pyjama's in front of someone who was practically a stranger to her. But Jenny told herself "if she was close enough to have her son sleep over, I suppose she is close enough to be greeted in my pyjama's.". With that thought she walked over with big strides in her direction and figured that she would greet her quickly before excusing herself so she could go and get herself and James dressed. However, she didn't get the chance to put this plan into action as she was not the only one feeling awkward or uncomfortable. James himself was feeling that way as well, because he had misbehaved last night when his mom had come to pick him up, so he was feeling sorry right now and wondered if his mom was upset with him for his behaviour.

With a hesitant expression he looked in the direction of his mother, with mixed anticipation, but the moment the mother and son pair locked eyes, her expression immediately softened up. Her face of worry was replaced with a big warm smile as she held out her hands. James returned her smile and held out his chubby little arms as well when she was close enough for him to reach and yelled out "Mommy!" While he said this, he tried to jump from Jason's arms into his mom's and hugged her with all his might as he said "I missed you." She squeezed him tight and swayed him from side to side in her arms. "Good, because mommy missed you loads as well.". The mother said, after which she placed multiple kisses on the boy's cheeks. After the initial greeting Mrs. Smith finally took the time to properly look at her son. "Let me look at you, what adorable clothes are you wearing. Where did you get these? Were you a good boy last night? You didn't trouble Jenny and the Westwoods too much did you?" She fired one question after the other and James answered all her questions as the others stood at the side and watched the sweet interaction between mother and son.

And here we are again with another thousand words being filled in no time. I hope you like it and my thanks goes to Humaira_Jarjisa for your comment on yesterday's chapter. It actually inspired a scene in today's chapter :D

I will be back tomorrow as James takes his leave and with school right around the corner we go back to the other characters and find out what they have been up to in their summer breaks.
