Huddled up

Meanwhile Jason had gone to his room to see what Jenny was up to. She had walked out on him after they had been spotted by Nick. When he knocked on the door and walked in without waiting for a response, he saw her hiding her face underneath one of the pillows. He chuckled as he sat down beside her and ruffled her hair. "What are you doing you silly woman?". Jenny turned around to her side and peeked at Jason from the corner of the pillow. "I am hiding. I wanted to bury my head in the sand like ostriches do, but the grounds have all been tiled, so this was the next best thing." Again Jason laughed. "Well considering you are able to joke, you must be fine. The food is almost done, don't you think you have been hiding enough?" Jenny finally turned to her back and threw the pillow to the side as she let out a deep sigh. "But I am so embarrassed Jace. How am I supposed to sit there across from them, when I know they saw us kissing? He even whistled, drawing everyone's attention to us." Jenny covered her eyes using her hands and shook her head from embarrassment.

Jason bent his upper body down to place a kiss on Jenny's lips, whose face was still half covered by the pillow in her hand, and used his hand to stroke the top of her head. "Come on Jen. Till when are you going to be embarrassed by little things like that. The only reason it becomes awkward is because you react so extreme to being caught. If you played it off with a joke, would it really have gotten like this? Don't you remember what I said, today they may catch us and tomorrow we will catch them. Besides, the whistler won't be whistling at us no more. He is in his own room, dealing with his problems as we speak." Jason said as he chuckled once more. Jenny lifted the pillow and looked at Jason with a hopeful look, "Really? Then let's go now. I don't want to walk out with him sitting and watching me with that stupid grin on his face." Jenny stood up from the bed with Jason's help and they both followed their noses to where the food was being served. When they stepped out onto the patio, they were just in time as the first skewers had been taken off the grill. They walked out hand in hand and walked out as if nothing had happened. Jenny felt shy for a moment, but that didn't last long. Once they had both sat down, Julia broke the awkward tension by offering her a piece of bread, which she happily accepted.

The moment they sat down, Nick and Elizabeth stepped out as well. Jenny held in her breath for a moment, but they both just smiled and sat down as well. Considering what they had been discussing up till now, they had forgotten all about Jenny and Jason's moment in the kitchen, so Jenny was spared the teasing and grinning she had dreaded. Nick and Jason gave each other a hand and greeted each other with a simple "he man" before he sat down across from him. Simple water under the bridge movement, just the way men liked it. No sorry's, no awkwardness, no unnecessary words. Just a handshake and a greeting.

Soon everyone was eating, chatting and laughing away happily and the events from earlier seemed like they hadn't happened at all. With all that had taken place in such a short amount of time, it felt like a week had passed already instead of just a few hours. It wasn't long before they had all eaten their fill and were ready to clear the table. Nick and Elizabeth hadn't helped out with preparing the food nor the grocery shopping, so they were tasked with cleaning the dishes. Nick didn't mind at all as he saw this as another chance to spend some time alone with her, but Elizabeth was looking at the pile of dishes with disgust. She had never cleared a plate in her life, let alone wash it. Now she was tasked with washing this many, with a guy she was still trying to avoid. While they started with the cleaning, the other boys started making a fire in the fire pit so that they could have a nice night out with everyone. In the mean time the girls went to get some blankets and things to roast over the fire. In no time they had a cozy corner and were ready to snuggle up with their men. After everything had been set up and they had a nice fire going, Elizabeth and Nick stepped out of the kitchen as well.

As everyone got comfortable, the mood got a bit more romantic. Before she knew it, what Jason had said had come true. The first day hadn't even ended or they had already seen the affectionate moments of the other couples present. None of them seemed to even bat their lashes a second time as they were sitting in each others laps during this evening fire, nor when they were kissing each other while being huddled up in a blanket together. Slowly, as if being scared to get caught by the others, Jenny let herself glide into Jason's embrace as well. With every inch, she looked around and saw that no one was paying them any attention. Jason on his end was watching her in amusement, before he reduced the final inches by pulling her over in one simple movement. She looked up sideways to find him grinning at her and turned her face back to the front as she let out a snort as well, knowing that he had witnessed her 'stealthy' moves. She placed her head down on his chest and got comfortable as she covered them in her blanket. Soon evening turned to night and it was time for everyone to return to their own rooms. It was only now that it dawned to Jenny that she had only seen one bed in their room, which meant that sleeping in the same room would also mean sleeping in the same bed as Jason. Her initial sleepy self, shot wide awake at the thought of this.
