Hibernation

When Jenny was introduced to her son's friend, she discovered that his name was Josh. He was just one year older than Charlie and had just started attending that school for gifted children as well. So, the two of them becoming friends was destined in Jenny's eyes, though they saw it as logical. Wanting to get to know the boy a bit more and not wanting the two small children to go down two flights of stairs themselves, Jenny decided to carry Josh while Jason carried Charlie. This was clearly not the division Charlie had in mind as he pouted and glared all the way till the dining table.

Jenny's small action had almost ruined what she was internally celebrating. Making Charlie almost dislike his newfound friend but Jenny quickly managed to solve the still hidden problem by letting Charlie sit on her lap during dinner so that Josh could sit in Charlie's special chair. She couldn't risk her son's friend falling from one of the regular chairs. So, she chose to give him the special high chair, that allowed him a better view of the table and let him reach his plate properly, while Charlie got a similar experience by sitting on his mother's lap.

After enjoying a pleasant dinner, where they got to know more about little Josh, the newfound friend was picked up by his parents and Charlie's bedtime had almost arrived as well. Once Charlie had been given a bath and was tucked away into his newly acquired big boy bed, he was out like a light. He had played so much and done so much to stimulate his mind, he only needed to close his eyes for his mind to drift off to dreamland. Causing another smile to appear on Jenny and Jason's faces as they watched their son sleep for a few minutes before going back downstairs. While Charlie was busy dreaming about what not, Jenny was excitedly talking with Jason about the joy she was feeling due to this development in their son's life.

"I am so glad for him. He seemed so happy today. I can tell that he is thoroughly enjoying himself over there. So, now I can finally be fully at ease and know that we made the right decision to let him change schools. Moments like these make me so happy to be a mom. Seeing your kid thrive like that. It fills me with joy." Jason chuckled as his arm was lying on the backrest, while Jenny was leaning against him. "Well, how about we double that joy then and create another one little one who can make us proud like that?" Jenny wasn't sure if Jason was serious or not. The subject of a second child hadn't been brought up in quite a while and Jenny was good with that as she still wasn't ready for that second wave of change in their lives. Though these things happen when they happen, even when you take the best precautions, if she had any say in the matter, there wouldn't be another bun her oven until she was done with med-school.

Jenny decided to respond in a joking manner that would hopefully put the matter to bed for another six month hibernation. Then she should be ready to open the discussion for real. She patted him on his upper leg as she said, "A little more patience my dear. The oven isn't warm yet and the dough still has to rise. There will be a bun to bake before you know it." Jason got her message loud and clear and stopped pushing the matter. But although he was done pushing her verbally, he had a different kind of pushing in mind that he saw no need to stop with any time soon. Aside from the actual 'game', it was always good to get a few practice runs in and he happened to enjoy those very much.

He started with a loud kiss on her cheek, which caused Jenny to turn his way in a laughter as she wiped the side of her face. Once he had her attention, he gave her a proper kiss on the lips to test the waters. When his intentions became clear, Jason asked her, "Should we take this to the bedroom?" After he received a non-verbal agreement, in the form of a silent nod, Jason immediately got up while still holding one of Jenny's hands. He crouched in front of the sofa and used the hand he was holding to pull her on his back and dashed up the stairs while keeping a tight grip on the cheerfully laughing Jenny. Galloping through the halls like a horse in the wild, causing Jenny to call out "Onwards my wayward steed!" as he reached the second flight of stairs. She of course did this in the softest volume she could in order to not wake her sleeping son. Though he was so far gone, there was little chance of him waking up from their commotion even if they hadn't tried to make as little noise as possible.

Jason didn't let go of Jenny until they reached the bed and he dropped her on her back on the soft mattress before joining her on there as well, spending the rest of their evening in bed without even one minute of it being assigned to sleeping. It was close to midnight when they finally called it a night and went to sleep as they still had another day of work ahead of them tomorrow.

As I promised many chapters before, a lot more than I initially planned, I am annoucing that we have now officially arrived at the final 20 chapters. Most of the story is done, with a few things here and there I still want to incorporate. Plus, I want to do a few chapters on when the kids are a bit older. Give you a glance into their lives. So, I hope that my current estimate of 20 chapters is accurate XD.

I will save the real finishing 'statement' and all the thanks for that final chapter. For now I wish you all a good night and after the official final chapter I will also give you a little sneak peek into the next story I want to write ;P. I hope you will all continue to stick with the story for those final chapters and of course I hope that you will enjoy them!
