Her gold card

Jenny became dejected after seeing her last hope fall through. As the man was walking away Jenny still murmured, "I see. Well thank you for your time then. I will try to find another way." She was still a bit lost in her own thoughts and hadn't noticed that the owner had already walked away nor that the man responded to her thanks by lifting his hands in the air, while his back remained turned to them, to wave his troubles away as if to say 'no problem at all.' The saleswoman looked at Jenny and said, "I'm sorry. I wish that I could help you with this, but there is nothing more I can do." Jenny shook her head and gave her a polite smile as she said, "No, this was enough. Thank you again for trying."

Jenny then turned to Julia and let out a sigh as she said, "Let's go. I'll think of something else." Julia followed Jenny as she walked to the store's entrance, without saying a word. She felt bad for her friend. She had an easy way right in front of her, but chose to take the difficult route and there was nothing she could do to help her. All she could do was support her decision and comfort her now that things weren't going according to plan right from the get go. However before they were able to walk out the store, Jenny suddenly stopped walking. Making Julia, who was lost in her own thoughts, bump into her.

The reason Jenny had lost hope was because she understood the owner's reasoning for not wanting to reserve the watch for her. That is why it was hard for her to find a way to convince him to change his rules for her. He didn't know her. It was high end store who must have to deal with customers who can't pay for their items plenty of times and perhaps have even dealt with cases where the other person was indeed unable to pay the promised amount, causing the man to lose out on a guaranteed sale to another person. But what if he didn't lose out and she could give him a guarantee. He might not know her, but she was certain he would know Jason or at the very least the Westwood name. Just as she finished that thought, she abruptly stopped in her movement and that was when Julia bumped into her. She turned around and said, "I have an idea." and walked back to the counter. Julia became excited as well as she saw how determined Jenny was and followed her as she asked Anne to call out the owner once more.

Anne was curious what could have changed from the short distance Jenny had walked and agreed to call her boss again. Again Mr. Mureau came out after just a few seconds, but this time his expression was more unhappy and the professional smile was left behind. "Miss..." "Charlston" Jenny quickly replied. "Miss Charlston, as I said before, I am quite busy. Unless you happened to find a bag of money on your way out or won the lottery, I am afraid that I won't be able to help you." Though Jenny wasn't very happy with his tone, she was depending on him right now, so she had to swallow her feelings and remain kind and calm if she wanted his help.

"I know Mr. Mureau and I am sorry for disturbing you again, but I have a new proposition for you. You said that the reason you don't want to reserve the watch for me is because you don't want to lose out on a guaranteed sale for a potential one. So what if I was able to prove to you that I am good for the money. One way or another?"

Mr. Mureau was clearly still skeptical and said, "And how do you suppose to do that?" "Well, you may not be aware of this and I usually don't like to use this card, but the situation calls for it this time. The reason why I can promise you that I am good for the money despite not having enough money to my name, is because of the person I am buying the watch for. My full name is Jennifer Charlston and I am Jason Westwood, of the Westwood empire, his fiance. If I don't pay you the money on time, you can bill it to the Westwood residence."

The store owner seemed intrigued and said, "Well if that is indeed true, that would certainly change things. Are you able to prove that you are indeed Mr. Westwood's fiance?"

"What kind of proof would you need? My friend over here can vouch that I am indeed who I say that I am."

Mr. Mureau scoffed and said, "Anyone can claim that they are Mr. Westwood's cousin, friend or fiance. The word of your friend means nothing to me. If you don't have any physical proof, I can call Mr. Westwood and ask. That will give us a quick, definitive answer. But I can tell you this miss Charlston, he is not fond of people using his name for their own gain, so I hope you aren't lying to me."

With a shocked expression Jenny exclaims, "No! You can't call him. It's supposed to be surprise. If you call him, that will ruin the entire plan."

Clearly starting to lose his patience, Mr. Mureau asks "Miss Charlston, I am not looking to play games here. I have a business to run. So, either give me proof that you are Mr. Westwood's fiance or leave my store."

"Wait. I have pictures of the both of us. Will that help?" Without waiting for his reply, Jenny grabs her phone and searches for pictures with her and Jason. She shows them to the shop owner and she can tell that he is starting to consider helping her. This is when she remembers she has a final trump card and grabs her wallet. She takes out her gold card given to her by Jason and shows it to Mr. Mureau.

Mr. Mureau is shocked and asks, "Where did you get this. Only a few families have gold cards and it even has the Westwood crest on it." He takes the card from her hand and checks every corner of it and mumbles some things to himself. When Jenny believes he has had a proper look at the card she says, "I assume that is proof enough? I will leave that card with you as a guarantee. If I don't give you the remaining money before March the eighteenth you can charge the full amount to this card. But in return I need you to promise me that you will reserve that watch and that you will keep everything confidential. Even from Jason himself."

Mr. Mureau nods his head frantically and says, "Yes, yes of course. Anything for the future Mrs. Westwood. My apologies for the way I treated you before. It's just that there are always people pretending to be affiliated with Mr. Westwood one way or another. That has made me a bit skeptical. Is there anything else you need?"

"Well as a matter of fact, I was wondering if you could tell me whether there are any other stores that carry this watch and if so, which stores that may be."

"No miss, our store's window display carries only unique, one of a kind items. So, this is the only one available in the world."

With that their deal was made and now all that there was left to do, was to find a way to make three thousand pounds in just under six months, without Jason noticing...

Here we are with chapter number two. Sorry for being so late and I promise to publish on time tomorrow. For now I wish you all a good night and I hope you enjoy :).
