Heartstrings

The next morning Jenny woke up a lot later than what she had planned. Because of what had happened she had forgotten to set her alarm and had to depend on her own internal clock to wake her and that clock was a lazy one. As she was trying to get oriented, she felt a familiar touch that she hadn't expected after how last night ended. She opened her eyes and saw herself lying in Jason's arms. Half wondering how she had ended up there from where she was sleeping and half happy that Jason was apparently no longer mad about what she had told him yesterday. She smiled as she looked at him and at his half frowning expression. She used her fingers to gently press the part between his brows, to make the frown go away. Jason seemed to have subconsciously noticed her intentions as he relaxed his face and continued to sleep, making Jenny chuckle softly. Jenny simply laid there for a moment as she stared at Jason's sleeping face, before carefully removing his arms so she could get out of bed.

Once she stepped out of the bed and grabbed her phone, she noticed how late it was and she rushed into the bathroom. She quickly got ready and slipped to the other side of the room to get dressed. When she was done and wanted to see how the outfit looked, she noticed that the full-length mirror she once had was gone. Not wanting to wake Jason over something like this, she walked back into the bathroom from the door on that side of the room and caught a quick glimpse of herself in the bathroom mirror. Being satisfied enough, she walked back and headed out of the room and went downstairs to have breakfast. On the way out she came across the large teddy they had gotten at the fair and patted its head as if it was a pet. She thought to herself that she should use it as a cuddling pillow for when she was reading. Or maybe she could even use it as a body pillow for when Jason was away or late in the future...? She giggled to herself as she pushed that though away and walked down the stairs.

When she walked into the living room a familiar face was looking at her and greeted her. "Good morning big sister! You are finally here. I have been waiting for you all by myself." On the sofa the small boy she had met at the event she and Jason had attend was looking at her. In his adorable little suit, which was probably a pre-school uniform, little James was waving at her with flushed cheeks and a wide grin. At this moment Garry came to explain what the little boy was doing here.

"Good morning miss Jennifer, the young master from the Smith family was brought over by Mrs. Smith half an hour ago. The boy had apparently grown quite attached to you after meeting you at an event several weeks ago and has insisted on coming over on a playdate ever since then. His mother pleaded if he could stay here for a few hours, until he had seen you again. She also said that if anyone felt that he was being a bother at any given time, we could call them right away and she would come pick him up. Having the approval of Mr. and Mrs. Westwood, who happen to be good acquaintances with Mr. Smith, I decided to let the little master in and wait for you here." "It's fine, thanks for letting me know Garry. I happen to be a big fan of this little man myself, so I don't mind this visit at all!" Jenny said as she smilingly returned the enthusiastic wave of little James. Garry showed a polite smile before returning to what he was doing.

Jenny walked up to James, she lifted him from the sofa and held him in her arms as she talked to the sweet boy who was overjoyed to see her. "Hello dear old friend. What took you so long to visit me?" With his tiny arms he held onto Jenny and answered her questions. "I wanted to visit, but mommy kept telling me that I couldn't. I asked her every day, but mommy said that I shouldn't bother you and that you probably didn't have time to play with me." He said as he looked a bit dejected and hesitant, tugging on Jenny's heartstrings. Jenny placed a kiss on his chubby cheeks and said "How could that be?! I will always have time for you. You say the word and I'll make the time. How could I possibly not want to see a little charmer like you? Your mommy was just trying to prevent you from getting hurt, but I will give you my number later and you can call me directly anytime you want to see me, okay?" James looked up with a bright smile and said "Really?! Anytime I want?" "Anytime you want." Jenny replied as she gave the boy a pinkie promise.

As they were talking, Jenny was walking into the dining room and she asked the little boy "Have you eaten breakfast my dear James or will you join me?" Before he had the chance to reply, his stomach spoke for him with a grumble and his cheeks grew red. "I'll take that as an acceptance of my offer." Jenny said with a chuckle. James nodded his head and let Jenny take him towards the kitchen, where she placed him on top of the counter so she could prepare something to eat for the both of them. "What would be a good meal to celebrate us reuniting? How do pancakes sound?" The boy's eyes grew, and he nodded "I love pancakes!". "Really? Me too!" Jenny said with a wink.
