Have her cake and Eat it too

The following days were spent blissfully and in no time their honeymoon had come to an end. As she packed their bags and the gifts they had bought for the people back home, Jenny looked around the room where she and Jason had made many memories over the past three weeks. Jason had participated in the packing till they were about half way done, during which he had mostly simply handed Jenny the items she asked for, before he made a break for it in order to prepare for his return to the company the day after their return to England. As she scanned the room, her eyes landed on that very person, who was typing away on his laptop at a speed she didn't think was humanly possible. Writing what looked to her as nothing more than gibberish in multiple windows. She looked at the hardworking man with a loving gaze and was grateful that they had been able to go on such a long honeymoon despite his busy schedule and the importance of the work that was waiting for him back at home.

Though she had enjoyed their time here, she was looking forward to seeing everyone back at home again. She wanted to see how their friends were doing and she thought about how in a few short months, Elizabeth and Nick would be getting married and they would start moving in together. One by one they were tying the knot, leaving only Julia and Harry behind. But something told her that they wouldn't be too far off either. Jenny finished packing, while Jason finished up his work. After that they enjoyed a last dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and left for the airport to go back to their real lives. Leaving their little bubble behind for the next time they would have the time for a nice long trip.

On the plane ride Jenny was leaning against Jason's chest and he had his arm around her as usual, as they had spent many rides. Talking, sleeping, relaxing. But this time they were discussing a topic that neither of them felt like talking or thinking about. However, the time for ignoring it and pushing it off had passed and in less than 48 hours it would become their reality and it would become a lot grimmer before it would get better. "So, that was it hmm? I had hoped we could postpone this moment forever, but Monday morning you officially start at Westwood International and you will be fending off vultures while trying to complete your merger." Jason stroked the back of Jenny's hand as he was holding onto it tightly and agreed absentmindedly. "Once school starts, your workload will increase even more and I imagine that I will be quite busy at the beginning as well. So, before you start we should make each other a few promises. What do you think?" Jenny looked up sideways for Jason's response but he was lost in his own thoughts. So, she gave him a little nudge and asked her question again.

Jason looked at her worried expression and said, "Sure, what kind of promises did you have in mind?" He would always be willing to indulge her and adhere to her every request. The next year would be tough on both of them, so he needed to spoil her a bit in advance. However, he didn't expect what came next. The promises she wanted to make weren't for her, but for him. "Well, for one. Let's promise that I will always stay awake to ask you how your day was. If I do fall asleep, I need you to promise me that you will wake me up. At least for thirty minutes at the end of the day I want to be able to talk to you and let you unburden." With widened eyes and a warmed heart, he listen to Jenny list the promises she wanted them to make to each other. "At least once a month, we should make time to have a date with each other. Even if it is just getting a cup of coffee together. We should see each other outside the house sometimes as well. Otherwise your world will only be work and sleep. And finally, I want you to promise me that if there is ever a day that I can help you with what you are doing for our future, you let me know. I will always have your back and I know that you will always have mine. So, if I can share even the slightest bit of that burden on your shoulders then I will be happy. Don't hesitate to ask me if you need a shoulder to lean on or tell me if there is an event we need to go to."

With a gentle smile Jason rubbed over Jenny's cheeks with his thumb before he place a soft kiss on her lips. Instead of a promise he replied with a, "Thank you." He pulled Jenny close and kissed the top of her head. After that he patted her arm with his hand as if trying to pat her asleep. The rest of the flight was spent in that position as they moved onto more happy subjects like Sophia's pregnancy! By now she was four months along and had probably found out the sex of her baby. She was probably even showing! As they talked about those topics, they were reassured that there were plenty of great things that were awaiting them as well. Another happy thing was that Jenny's brothers and mother, along with her three best friends, were coming to visit her. Though Jason's break would end when they got back to England, Jenny still had till the start of the first term. Since she wouldn't have much to do while Jason was at work, she might as well spend some time with the people she didn't get to see often enough since she had moved. Though this was the more expensive option, she didn't want to leave Jason during these first weeks at the main office. This way she could have her cake and eat it too.

Here is today's chapter. I was quite stuck today, so it took me a record time to write XD. I hope you still enjoy and I will be back tomorrow with another chapter!
