Hate the game

If Jason wasn't going to help her on his own and was playing games, then she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of a win and would play along instead. So, she walked up to a group of guys standing behind Jason at the 'strongest punch' machine. She used some words of flattery to convince the guys to help her win the prize she had her eyes on. Few men would be able to resist a chance to show off their strength in front of a pretty woman when she asks you to help her. Jenny had enough male friends and brothers to know how to appeal to this side of them and went in without any hesitation, despite the glaring eyes that were watching her every move. "Hi, good afternoon. I was hoping you could help me with something. You look like strong guys who know how to aim, so I was wondering if you could help me win that toy." She said as she turned her body to point at the prize. "I have been going at it for some time now, but no matter how hard I throw, I can't seem to knock them all over. Do you mind giving it a try for me? Of course, I will pay for the turns."

The guys happily agreed to her request and were walking with her to the can towers when they noticed the cold air surrounding the stall and Jason's icy glare. Feeling like he was looking in their direction, one of the guys turned to Jenny and asked "Do you know that guy? Why is he glaring at us?" Jenny brushed the question off and said "Don't mind him. He won't hurt you." Not entirely convinced by her words or perhaps more influenced by Jason's presence, they asked "Are you sure...? He looks like he is ready to kill us at this very spot." One of the other guys then turned to ask, "Is he your boyfriend or something?" Jenny shrugged her shoulders and said "Or something I guess, but he is being petty. Besides, we aren't doing anything wrong. So even if he were, there wouldn't be anything for him to be mad about." She said loud enough for Jason to hear.

Feeling the tense atmosphere surrounding them, the vendor started feeling a bit nervous himself. He didn't want a fight to start in front of his stall, especially not over a toy. With cold sweat covering his body, he watched the scene in front of him unfold. The guys that Jenny had asked for help weren't unaffected by Jason's presence either. Though Jason hadn't done anything, his eyes on their backs made them feel nervous and unable to focus. One throw after the other was missed. They took turns in throwing, but regardless of who was up, each ball missed its target. Performing even worse than Jenny herself. All balls landed in the net behind the pins, one by one. After just a few throws each, they were discussing amongst each other if it weren't better for them to give up. This was hurting their pride and probably wasn't worth a possible fight with the guy throwing icy daggers at them. Their mind was made up when they noticed the ring on Jenny's finger, making them understand what her "or something" had meant. Knowing that she was clearly already taken, they agreed it was best to retreat.

"Why are you guys stopping? What's wrong?" Jenny said as she looked questioningly at the guys who had taken a step in her direction with their heads slightly down. "Look..." one of them said, waiting for Jenny to fill in the blank as they hadn't introduced themselves to each other. "Jenny." "Look Jenny, this is clearly a fight between you guys and we don't seem to be able to help you much with winning that prize, so I think it's best if we go and leave you guys to it." "What makes you think we are fighting? We are just having fun." "Well, he doesn't seem to think it's much fun. So, you should make up with him. He seems strong enough to help you win this toy, why not ask him to help you. He will probably be more of a help than we have been." They apologized, payed Jenny back for the turns they had taken, despite her insisting they didn't have to do that and retreated. They disappeared into the crowd, leaving Jenny behind with the icy prince behind her.

The silence that surrounded them was broken by the vendor, who couldn't look on any longer. "Look lady, which toy do you want? I'll give it to you for free. I have earned enough on all your attempts, so come and get it and make up with that guy already." Jenny didn't understand why everyone seemed to insist that she and Jason had been fighting and needed making up. It was clearly a game, a joke, she had simply played along. She meant it when she said there was nothing for him to be mad about. She hadn't touched anyone, hadn't done anything behind his back and hadn't denied their relationship when the guys asked about it. When playing a game, there is always the risk of losing, right? So, he shouldn't hate the player, but hate the game. Jenny accepted the vendor's offer and grabbed the large bear with both arms. While hugging the toy she turned to Jason, who had still been standing there without saying a word, and said "Are you coming or are you going to keep standing there like a statue?"

Jason smiled and walked up to her. He lifted his arm and Jenny thought he was going to put his arm around her shoulder, like he had done till now. So, she turned her back to him and continued to move forward, when he suddenly pulled her between a space between two stalls. Taken by surprise, Jenny's eyes were widened as she looked at Jason and asked, "What are you doing?". Jason grabbed her chin and said "So, you would rather ask strangers for help than me, hm? Prancing them around in front of me and then show no remorse either. You sure have gotten brave." Jenny shifted her eyes and said "Well, if you didn't want me to look for someone else, you should have helped me yourself. You could clearly see me struggling, but you decided to watch me suffer instead." With a grin on his face Jason replied, "Just like you did, when we just arrived?". Just when Jenny turned to refute him, saying it wasn't the same thing, Jason sealed her lips perfectly. Leaving her no space to argue her case.

Here we are with chapter number two. Don't hate the player, hate the game!
