Greedy

After almost an hour, Jenny and Charlie returned from their walk. When they entered the house it was still as empty as they had left it. Jenny unclasped Charlie from the stroller, which was currently the only way for them to take a walk that long as Charlie was still quite new at walking but he was much too heavy to be carried the entire distance by Jenny. Though he had attempted to walk short bits himself, while she held his hand for some extra balance. Now that they were back home, she lifted him into her arms and carried him up the two flights of stairs to where his father was probably still hard at work. When she entered the room and walked to the office room, she peered inside and saw that Jason was still typing away at his computer and had many different files scattered around him. Pre-answering the question that she was about to ask him, despite not being in a position to ask it as he had invested so much time in her already today. Time which she thought would be enough but had apparently made her greedy for more.

When Jason looked up after hearing her knock against the glass door, he asked her "Hi babe, what brings you back up here? Did you guys go outside? Charlie's cheeks seem a bit flushed." Jenny nodded and answered his first question by asking him a question in return with a look of hope in her eyes. "How is work going? Do you still have a lot to do?" Jason nodded as he let out a soft sigh. "Yeah, it looks like I won't be done until very late at night." With a grin and a wink he added, "But then again, that is expected after the delay I caused myself with the help of my beloved wife." Jenny let out an involuntary laugh before her expression turned a bit more sombre as she asked, "Will you be joining us for dinner or should I bring you some food upstairs once its prepared?"

Her change in expression didn't go unnoticed by Jason, who thought about the best thing to do in this situation. He really couldn't permit to spend more time on something other than the task at hand but he could tell that Jenny really wanted to have dinner with him and most probably just want to spend more time with him altogether. Considering her actions earlier this day. With a pensive look his eyes stayed on Jenny for a moment before he got up and walked to the other side of his desk. While leaning against the edge of the desk, he gently grabbed Jenny's free hand.

As they were on the same eye level, he lightly held her hand in his he said, "I'm sorry I don't have much time for you these days but I am almost finished. If you give me these next two days, I promise that I will give you more attention than you know how to handle in the days after that. We can even go on a trip, just the two of us, after our exams our finished." Then he turned to Charlie and held both sides of his chubby cheeks within the thumb and index finger of a single hand as he sternly spoke to his son. "Until then I am counting on you Charlie to keep your mommy company and make sure she isn't too lonely or sad. Are you up for that task?" Charlie replied with hugging his mother tightly as he placed a big kiss on the side of her face.

Jenny let out a soft sigh at Jason's attempt to comfort her. Feeling bad that he had to use his precious and busy time on dealing with her acting spoiled, even involving their son in her messy feelings. Though part of her current reaction was Jason's own fault. He had always spoiled her so much, made sure she was never short on anything if he could help it, that she had now grown accustomed to always having him around. He had ruined her for all other men in the way he treated her. So, now he was tasked with dealing with the consequences of his treatment as she didn't know how to. "I know you are doing your best. It is not your fault and I should have expected this much when you started your work at the office. In fact we have been lucky that we haven't had more of such weeks and days. It's just that it has been such a long time since I have seen so little of you that I don't really know how to handle it anymore. It just gets kind of lonely. But if it is just two more days, then I will stay strong and I will find a way to deal with not having you around as much as I like. But after that, you had better be prepared mister."

Jason chuckled, "Oh how loved I am. It sure feels good to be on the receiving end of these praises. Any man likes to hear that their presence is needed and wanted by their partner. I am no different. So, hearing you say you like to have me around more serves as the best encouragement for me. And with this as an encouragement, I will work even harder to finish the job and return back to your side fulltime. Or at least as full time as our regular lives allow it." Jenny passed Charlie's earlier gesture along as she grabbed the collar of Jason's shirt and pulled him towards her to place a loud kiss on his lips before replying with strong eyes, "Good!" After that she let go of him and under the sound of his soft laughter she left the office with Charlie and went to see if dinner was done.
