For the sake of family

Jason showed an eerie smile at the words of his aunts and said, "Very well, if Jenny forgives you, I shall look at it as nothing more than an misunderstanding among family. This is a blind eye I will only turn once. So, if I ever catch wind of something like this happening again to her in your presence, then you won't blame me for taking more extreme measures, will you my dearest aunts?"

With that he took his aunts to the table where Jenny was seated along with his parents and grandparents and watched as his aunts asked for Jenny's forgiveness in front of them all.

So with reluctance and lowered heads, they stood in front of Jenny and said, "Jenny dear, Jason brought to our attention that our words from earlier struck a wrong nerve with you and has possibly hurt you. What we said there was just a joke, a chat among women, to break the ice and have a little fun among future family."

"Yes, we are terribly sorry for hurting your feelings. You went along with it, so we thought you understood."

"Can you find it in your heart to forgive us, for the sake of us becoming family in the near future?"

Jenny looked at them and their 180 degree change in behavior. She wondered what Jason must have said to break these arrogant, stubborn women so fast. She was impressed by their great acting skills. If she didn't know any better, she would think they meant it and it was she that had been overreacting. But she wasn't a very forgiving type and if you did the crime, you should be willing to do the time. Though she wouldn't make them face whatever Jason had planned for them, she wouldn't let them off as easily as this.

"Really? A joke? It appears that this is a common occurrence this evening. Since this is a festive evening, I will consider forgiving you for the sake of family, but first I would like to clear a few things up. You see, me being in the bathroom for the first part of the joke, must have gotten me to miss recognizing it was one in the first place. So, I take it that I am not a 'hick' with 'poor upbringing' that doesn't know her 'place'?"

Cold sweat came over their faces as the words they had used had been repeated in front of all the powerful figures in their family. By these words it was made clear that if they wanted to get out of the hole they had dug themselves, they would have to swallow their pride.

"No of course not. It is simply us that are blind, and don't know our place for playing such a poor joke on the precious fiance of Jason."

Jenny wanted to see how far they were willing to go. It wasn't really about revenge. Though her revenge was an added bonus. The real reason she was taking it this far was, because she wanted to make them pay so badly for what they had said to her, so that they would think twice in the future before doing something like that to someone else. So, Jenny continued.

"And what about what you said about a pig wearing pearls?"

Suddenly one of the other aunts, the youngest of all, came forward and said, "They were talking about me! They are always calling me a piglet." And tried to laugh it off awkwardly while they each glanced at the expression of the people surrounding them at the moment.

"Is that so. Well, if you are a 'pig', then surely you know what sound a pig makes. Why don't you show me." She purposely called her a pig, twisting her words, to push her buttons even more.

"You can't be serious! I am not going to pretend I am a pig in front of all these people." Then she turned to face the others, "I can't do that. I will be mortified." Though the other guests wouldn't be able to hear her for a number of reasons. One being that the table where Jason's grandparents were seated was separated from the rest of the tables and crowd with a small stage creating some distance and making it more difficult for people to hear what was being discussed there. Second, she was facing Jenny, but her back was facing the crowd. And lastly, the background music, which took care of the rest, deafening out most of the sound. But for someone as spoiled and arrogant as her, the six people here were enough of a crowd for her to become unwilling. However, without the need for Jason or the other people at the table to say a single word, help came from an unexpected corner as the other two stepped in to convince her or better said force her. With their nails practically dug in her arms and fear filled eyes, the sisters said, "You have to dear, aren't you piglet. You have to show her why you are called that." With her eyes reddened and her tears on the verge of falling, the aunt that could very well be a niece by her age, did the best pig-sound impression she could do. Making everyone at the table hold back their laughter, including Jenny herself.

Jenny felt like she had punished them enough, because a thing like this was one of the worst punishments she could have given the three of them. All that remained was to make the show a bit more public, but in a positive sense. With a fearful, innocent expression, much like a little white lamb, as pure as they come, she said, "I see now that I must have indeed been mistaken. I am almost ready to forgive you and accept you as my own aunts. All that I have now is a fear. Fear that others might consider jokes like yours funny and try them out on me in the future. Making me possibly misunderstand someone again and cause discord in my future family. So, my dear respected aunts, could you please speak some words on my behalf to the other guests tonight. That way the entire family will know how you feel about me and your support of me as Jason's future bride."

Here we are with today's chapter and a positive message, as webnovels has offered me a contract for A devil's match. Though I am not sure of the specifics yet, this could mean that after almost three hundred chapters, my book wil become something that needs to be unlocked. Though I have asked the people at webnovels if it is possible to keep the book free, I unfortunately can't guarantee anything at the moment.

Though I have been going back and forth for the last few days with what to do with it, they are offering me the chance to let my book be known by a bigger crowd, so that more people can enjoy what I write. So, I hope no one will be upset with me if I take the opportunity as that was a goal of mine from the beginning to reach as many people as possible.

To help those who enjoy this story and don't have enough coins/passes to read all the novels they like, I am going to think of a solution to pick a reader each day to read the released chapter on a second account of mine.

With this I wish you all a good evening and I hope you can continue to support me :D.
