First flight back

Despite everything, the rest of the week went by smoothly and the bell for the last exam had just rang. Jenny hurried out of the classroom and Jason was waiting for her in the hall. They quickly said goodbye to Harry and the others, wishing them a nice summer vacation as well, before walking towards the main entrance hand in hand. The car that would take them to the airport, was waiting for them when they walked out. It was standing first in the line of cars parked out front, with their suitcases in the trunk and their carry-on bags waiting for them inside. Everything had been prepared, up until the last minute. All that was needed now, was for them to step in the car and after the ride, board the plane. The driver stepped in the driver's seat when he saw them coming, after tipping his hat to greet them. Jenny and Jason quickly stepped in and the car started driving away in full speed. The rushing, the thrill, the excitement, it was all almost identical to when she boarded the plane to England back then for their week alone in the city house. Making the memories of that day flood back. She couldn't believe they had been together for half a year already! Lying against Jason's shoulder, she looked at the road and scenery pass by at a high speed. In just a few minutes, she would be on her first flight back to the Netherlands, since her move to England.

The others weren't without plans either, having different social events and more than one vacation to look forward to. All of them had plans to go away with their own family and a separate vacation with their partner. For Julia and Harry as well as for Elizabeth and Nick, this would be their first vacation alone together. For George it would be his third. He and Sophia always went to their cabin in the mountains. They enjoyed being away from the world, being in their own little bubble. They would go hiking, read a book, swim, just enjoy each other's company. Being in a completely different state of their relationship than the other couples.

They were in a place where they were comfortable with doing nothing and spending the evening on the sofa together, each doing their own thing. George even had a gaming console in that cabin. Unlike Jason, he played adventure games, which he could enjoy together with Sophia if she wanted to. Once the game would get her attention, she would get just as lost and competitive as George, who would actually be playing the game. Helping him decide on his next move, solving hints and puzzles, even tugging his sleeves or arm when she spotted a clue before him. She would then excitedly shout and point directions at him, much to his amusement.

The other two couples were comfortable around each other as well, but still felt the need to do something together during the days that they were away with each other. This was probably partially the reason that they only went for a midweek, where George and Sophia would spend at least two weeks over there. After that they would be replenished and Sophia's feelings of not seeing him enough would be gone. She would always be a bit jealous of the other girls for being in the same school and even the same class as their men, but she was a fifteen-minute drive away. With the breaks on schooldays being as short as they are, they could only see each other after school. However, even then it was difficult because Sophia had to attend after school classes.

She wasn't very good at studying, but the school she attended was a prestigious one. If she wanted to stay there, she had to pass 80 percent of all of her tests on the first try and the remaining 20 on the second try. Though the passing grade was determined by the class average, so she didn't always need a 55 to pass the test. However, it also meant that if her class had done well, she needed a higher grade than normal to pass the test as well. So, she couldn't just rely on her own skills in studying and needed tutoring from professionals, even on Saturdays. This reduced the time they could spend with each other even more. Leaving just Sunday for them to see each other or when they had a dinner date. If George was busy as well, it could happen that they wouldn't see each other at all in a week, making her have to wait till the next week. Even on the big couple holidays and the few days they spent together during the other school holidays, other people would be around or involved one way or another. By giving her his undivided attention during these two weeks a year, she was able to recharge and let go of her disappointments gathered during the rest of the year.

Meanwhile Jenny and Jason had reached the airport and had reached their gate. Jason had used VIP-line to pass through the check-in procedures and customs, making everything go very smoothly and pass by in no time at all. Nearby there were a few shops and cafés, where they decided to sit down. They would have a drink and a bite to eat, while they wait for the boarding time. In the time Jason stood in line to place their order and return with it, Jenny had hopped into the bookstore to buy something to read during their flight. She had just returned to their seat, when she saw Jason walking to her with two drinks and a blueberry muffin. Once she took her first sip and bite, she felt that it was long overdue. The exams had drained her energy and the rushing to the airport didn't exactly allow her to catch her breath either. Having the stress of studying and performing well fall off her shoulders, she could finally relax and enjoy her time with Jason.
