Feelings

Jenny was so lost in thought, that she hadn't heard a word Jason had said. Lucky for him, she was almost done with her internal battle and was about to release him from his suffering. She had made up her mind and despite it being quite late already, was set on telling Jason her decision right now. So Jenny unlocked her door and went into the hallway. Jason of course was unable to sleep and heard her door unlocking. He thought she had finally decided to go eat something, but suddenly he heard a faint knock on what seemed to be his door. He could not believe his ears. Did she not go downstairs, but come to see him instead. Was this good news or bad news...? Then he heard it again. This time the knock was slightly louder. So he shot up and sat straight on his bed before answering "Come in.." Even up to this point, he couldn't really believe it. He knew Jenny was the only other person in the house, but considering what had happened, he was starting to second guess himself. Could she have forgiven him? Could his words have reached her? Slowly the door opens and Jenny is standing in the opening. She wasn't wearing the clothes she was wearing before, but was dressed in a sky-blue night gown with a white kimono like robe. Her hair was covering up her shy expression as she asked him if he could join her downstairs. Jason swallowed away the lump in his throat and with a shaky voice he said "Yeah, sure...I mean of course. I'll follow you right now".

Jenny led the way to the living room and sat down on the single armchair that was there and tucked her legs underneath her arms. Jason knew it was expected that she wouldn't be sitting next to him on the couch, but couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed. Jenny was staring at the floor in front of her as she was thinking of what to say. Jason took this time as another chance to apologize and started stammering away. "I just want to say again that I am sorry for taking things too far. I have broken our agreement and your trust and I would understand it if you were angry with me and if you are having difficult time with forgiving me. I.." Just as Jason was trying to utter his next sentence, Jenny stopped him by shaking her head. The time for her to speak up had come. She had tortured this poor man for long enough. She didn't realize her silence had given him such agony. So with a bit of remaining shyness, she started her explanation.

"Thanks for coming down with me this late at night. I just think I would feel more comfortable talking here then in one of our rooms." She showed a faint smile after saying this. "I have been taking this time to think. Think about what happened and think about my feelings for you." She started raising her face and started looking Jason in the eyes. "I want to let you know that I am not mad at you. I am mad at myself. What you had done shocked me, but it was the wake up call I needed. If I had minded so much, I should have pushed you away the moment it happened, right?" She didn't wait for Jason to answer and went on with her talk. "It was exactly because I didn't push you away, I started doubting my own feelings. I started to wonder if I wasn't just in a state of denial. That is why I needed some time to myself. To put everything in place. And after thinking long and hard about it, I have reached a conclusion. Do you want to hear it?" She raised her eyelids gently and looked for Jason's expression. Jason was sitting on the edge of his chair and didn't know how fast to nod his head. This was a turn of events he did not expect. Not only was she not mad at him, but she was even giving him the impression that he might be getting what he was waiting for. This day had been like being on a roller coaster and boy what a ride it was. This woman sure knew how to let him experience the highs and the lows. let's hope that he was going for a high right now and it wasn't him getting his hopes up only to be let down. Seeing Jason's anxious expression, Jenny decided to continue. "I think it is time for me to stop denying and aimlessly protecting myself. In the time that I had locked myself up, I was able to determine that I cannot deny that I do have feelings for you. Feelings that go beyond that just of a friend..."
