Feel better?

In a short ten minutes Jason's cousin and one of the family doctors indeed arrived along with a doctor's bag that was filled to the brim with everything he might need to treat the wife of the intimidating and fear inducing Jason. While Jason held the curious Charlie in his arms, Steve performed a quick examination and asked a few simple questions. Though they were all very standard and routine, the next question he asked was one neither of them were prepared for, "When was your last period? Is there a chance that you might be pregnant?" Though both of them wanted to dismiss that possibility, Jenny was stopped by the first question that she didn't have a ready answer for and Jason was stopped by Jenny's silence that had followed that question, which should have been easy to answer.

After the question was repeated by Jason in a hopeful tone, Jenny turned to him and said, "I don't know...I mean I don't think so. I shouldn't be. But my period isn't always regular and I have been so busy these past weeks that I simply don't know when my period should have started." Jenny grabbed her phone from the nightstand, intending to count the days since her last period when she was interrupted by Steve. "If you aren't certain, we might as well have you take a pregnancy test. I have one with me anyways. If your period isn't always regular, counting won't have much meaning either." Though Jenny knew that. Though she had studied it herself not too long ago. The possibility of being pregnant had thrown her mind into a haze.

With shaking hands she took the test from Steve's hand and headed into the bathroom to use it. Since she had been dizzy twice this day, Jason headed with her in the bathroom and left only after she was sitting down. Even then he didn't leave an inch further from the door than what was necessary to close it, waiting for her to be done and help her back into the bedroom. After the deed was done and they were waiting for the results, Steve continued to ask her a few questions. When the longest minute in Jenny's day had passed, the result came back negative. Giving her a sense of relief and causing Jason another wave of disappointed, which he quickly pushed away.

Steve gave a soft smile before he got up and said, "Well, everything looks fine to me. I think it is just a matter of overexertion. Take a rest day, I will give you an IV to replenish your fluids and vitamins and tomorrow you should be feeling fine and dandy. Since you are in your fifth year of med-school I assume taking the IV needle out yourself won't be much of a problem?" Jenny nodded after which Steve ended his visit with a short, "Then I will see myself out and I hope I won't see any of you in this coat until the next yearly examination." Jason gave him a simple thanks and Jenny apologized for the trouble before expressing her thanks as well for coming here so quickly on such short notice. Steve simply gave another smile and a wave before he walked out.

After the doctor left, Jason returned to Jenny's side and handed Charlie back to her. Finally his worries had been eased and he could start his work. Once he had told the young boy to be careful with the line, he gave Jenny a final kiss before heading into the office and started the work he should have started long ago. While mother and son kept busy in one part of the large master room, Jason was busy in the office on the other side of the door. He didn't return until it was almost time for him to leave for the meeting that he had postponed in the morning. Doing one final check-up on Jenny before heading out. "How are you feeling now? I see that the IV-bag is almost empty. Did it help in any way?" With a bit of weak smile Jenny nodded and said, "Yeah. Though I still don't have my usual energy yet, I haven't been feeling dizzy anymore. So, that is a good sign. Are you heading to your meeting now?"

Jason stroked Jenny's head once more as he replied with an 'Uhn'. With a voice as cheerful as she could muster up she said, "Don't worry about me and focus on your tasks. I am sure by the time you return from work I will be as good as new. While you are away I have my little helper here and I can ask one of the staff to bring my meals." Still feeling a bit hesitant, Jason said, "I will call you after my meeting. So, be sure to pick up." before he finally left for his real office.

After Jason finished his meeting and after he returned from work, he noticed that with each time he checked in on Jenny, she was doing better. Seemingly it was indeed a lack of rest and fluids that had gotten her out of sorts and a day at home was all she needed to recover from it all. So, by the next morning, adding a good night's sleep to the rest she already had taken, Jenny was feeling better than ever and was good and ready for another day of learning and working.

When she was getting dressed little Charlie had already been brought to their room by Jason and he had not forgotten yesterday's events, showing his clear concern for his beloved mother. "Should I go with mommy? So you can feel better?" He asked as he tilted his head along with his questions. Jenny chuckled and placed a kiss on the boy's cheeks. "Thank you darling but having you with me the whole day yesterday was enough to charge me up for the rest of this day. So, you can stay and keep grandma company." With a wink she added, "We all need a little dose of Charlie to feel happy.", which was followed up by him laughing dorkily as he said, "Look, mommy is making funny faces." Causing everyone to laugh out loud at his description of Jenny's winking expression, which was indeed still an odd sight to see.
