Father and son

From that day on Charlie did as he had wordlessly promised and said goodbye to his mother with the biggest smile he could muster up and welcomed her with an even bigger one. Jenny couldn't believe the change he had gone through and started to believe Jason might not have been joking when he said that Charlie might really be understanding more than she gave him credit for. Soon making it even possible for Jason to head into the office regularly and attend his classes on campus as well. In some cases even bringing Charlie along, who had became so well behaved it even shocked Jason himself. Forcing him to make due on his promises as well as he took the little man on more than one of his lunch dates with Jenny. Surprising both mother and son and making both very happy in the process.

The paternal grandparents didn't mind the extra time they got to spend with their grandson either and adjusted their schedules most willingly. Making the need for a nanny obsolete. Something which pleased everyone from great-grandparents, grandparents all the way to Jenny and Jason themselves, who saw that as a last resort. One they preferred not to make use of. Like this, everyone got what they wished for in one way or another. In case of little Charlie, he also got a few very valuable lessons from all of this. He saw his hard work pay off and saw the benefits of keeping his promises. Plus, he had seen that spending time away from Jenny wasn't as bad as he had thought.

If anything these weeks had allowed him to spend more one on one time with his father, making their bond grow much stronger. Something which hadn't escaped Jenny's attention either as she had seen father and son become inseparable. Especially when she wasn't an option Charlie would cling to Jason, who didn't seem to mind at all. Carrying Charlie around wherever he went. Even the people at the office didn't look up strangely anymore when they showed up together and they were no longer surprised to see how well behaved Charlie was being. Playing quietly by himself while his father worked on his matters. Only disturbing him if he needed to be fed or changed. Jason had even bought him special toys and games that would stimulate his already advanced brain. But no matter how well behaved he was, he did not like others touching him or approaching him.

He had accepted his grandparents and had made an exception for his great-grandparents but that was how far he was willing to go. Even their close friends were allowed to watch and perhaps give him a kiss when he was being held in his parents' arms but when they tried to take him from their arms, he would turn away and would cling tightly onto whichever of his parents was holding him. Luckily, Jason's office wasn't one that was frequently visited and if they did, they would be much too focussed on not making a bad impression on him to try and fool around with his son in his presence.

The people on campus however, didn't handle Charlie's presence in the same way. His cuteness and the charm he possessed by him combining some of the best features of his parents, had stolen the hearts of many when he first joined Jason in class. As he came to class more often, more and more of them started approaching the two of them. Some trying to get closer to the father by approaching the son, others just giving into the urge of wanting to hug Charlie himself or pinch his chubby cheeks. At first Jason let the other students be. Thinking it would serve as a good distraction for him from the long classes he had to take and broaden his world a bit. Ignoring their advances to him but allowing them to play with Charlie, who responded to their presence in the same way as his father did. With indifference and utter silence.

But when the growing number of students and the constant attention caused the otherwise quiet Charlie to cry during one of his classes, when it finally became too much for him to handle, Jason could ignore matters no more. It only took one moment of Jason using his chilling glare and revealing his intimidating aura, which caused a palpable pressure in at least a two meter radius, to teach them all a proper distance. At least if they wanted to keep their current care free lives in tact. After that no one dared to bother either of them. Everyone reverting to their earlier cautiousness when it came to approaching Jason and avoiding him all together if possible. Returning peace to Charlie's young life.

With her home at peace, Jenny was finally able to put her full focus on school and she loved seeing how Jason and Charlie were growing closer. Even catching them taking a bath together, a job that used to belong solely to her, and coming home to them having fallen asleep together. Catching these moments made her even more happy that she had decided to start her classes again and made her love for and her attraction towards Jason grow. Thinking to herself that there was something very charming about watching Jason take care of his son. The endearing moments between the two causing her heart to fill with an indescribable warmth. With Charlie's lovable behaviour in the morning and her warm welcomes in the evening, with the occasional witnessing of such father and son moments, allowed Jenny to enjoy leaving home as much as she loved coming back.
