Fair maiden

Jason decided to be the first to admit his wrongdoings as he started the conversation on the whole Max issue. "Look... I don't know how things got so bad so fast. The day started so great and before I knew it we were fighting and I was so angry. We both did and said things we shouldn't have and I am sorry for my part in this mess."

Jenny appreciated his straightforwardness and returned the favour by admitting where she had been in the wrong. "Yeah.., I am sorry as well. Though I dislike your jealous side, I did not help the situation by hiding my talk with the teacher from you. I know I have been asking a lot from you these days, but I want to be clear when I say that in no way do I find you less important than these other things or people. I might not say it out loud very often, but I do love you. More than you think. If I made you feel like you are not a priority to me, then that is on me and I will try to work on that. But we have very different personalities with many similarities, which make us get along great but on the points where we see things differently, we could not be further from each other. So, if we want to resolve this and make our relationship work, we are both going to have to give in a bit. Sometimes the person who gives in more will be more and sometimes it will be you."

Jason felt his heart racing a bit. This was the first time he had heard Jenny actually say that she loved him. Usually the initiatives to be intimate and the confessions were coming from him. Even when they got engaged, he didn't hear these words from her. Though she showed she cared about him through her actions, it felt good to hear her say it. Somehow it made him feel more reassured. He didn't know why, he knew he was a very popular and many girls would kill for a chance to be with him, but that confidence disappears when you are with someone who you really love. Especially when you are the one who loves the other more.

Deep inside he always felt that Jenny was too good for him, so he always did whatever he could to make sure she was happy and felt loved for the day that she would come to realize that fact. Whenever his gestures and affections were appreciated and reciprocated, the fear that came up when he thought of her leaving him, was suppressed. With a slightly flushed face Jason quickly replied, "Agreed. Thank you for telling me that..." and coughed a bit awkwardly and tried to distract the focus from himself by asking her a question. "So, now that we are on speaking terms tell me, does that Max guy know that you are engaged?"

However this was not enough for Jenny to miss the change in his expression. This might be the first time she had seen Jason blush, which caught her off guard and made her a bit distraught. "No..but simply because it hasn't come up yet. I mean it's not like I can go around and introduce myself by saying 'Hi, my name is Jenny and I am engaged'. If we hadn't fought, he would have probably known I was taken by now by seeing us together. Besides, we are just friends. No not even that, we are simply classmates who happen to sit together."

Jason scoffed and put his arms over one another as he said, "Sure he is. Just because you don't see him that way, doesn't mean he doesn't look at you with the intention of being more than friends."

"That may be the case, but I am not going to ignore all people of the opposite gender just because there is a slight possibility of them liking me. I did so today and it made me feel horrible. I mean we are in this situation whether we like it or not and I don't want to spend everyday with some awkward tension between me and him. I gave you the benefit of the doubt when everything with Lizzy was going down, despite her having tried to kiss you and her threatening me on a daily basis, all I ask is that you do the same for me now and trust that I know my boundaries." Jason sighed and said, "Fine." with a clenched jaw and clear reluctance. Under his breath he mumbled "Ugh, how is that issue from so long ago still causing me trouble today?"

"For future reference, I really dislike people telling me what I can and cannot do. It makes me get really defensive and make things way worse by showing you how much worse the situation or I myself can get. So, if you do have things that bother you, just tell me what exactly is bothering you and I will make sure to keep your wishes in mind. I might not do exactly what you want me to do, but in my own way I will take you into account in my actions." Jason rolled his eyes as he said, "Yeah I noticed. That really set you off in the music room." Jenny chuckled. She was happy that they were able to put that matter to bed, before it was their turn to go to bed. She did not like the tension that was between them and that they weren't speaking to each other. She has grown so accustomed to having him in her live, that just a few hours of him not being there, can make her feel so lonely no matter how many people are around her and how much fun she is trying to have. He had even made her lose her appetite, which was quite a feat. But now that their issue had been resolved, it was time for something else that was very important.

"Now that we have reached an agreement on the school matters, I have to ask you a very important question." Jason had no clue what she was talking about and looked at her with questioning eyes. "What is it?". Jenny's face turned from loving and relieved to a sinister and teasing one. "I know you think you hid it well, but Jason James Westwood, could it be that I just witnessed you blushing?" Jason was evidently surprised by her question and got flustered. "W-what are you talking about. Who was blushing?". Jenny loved how the shoe was on the other foot right now and had no plans of letting Jason get away with this. "Don't try to deny it. Even now your cheeks are bright red. What caused our prince charming to become a fair maiden, hmm?" Suddenly Jason looked at her straight in the eyes and grabbed hold of her arm. He pulled her swiftly and made her land on top of him, making Jenny a bit startled by the unexpectedness. "Getting cocky are we? If you had been more honest with your feelings before and told me you loved me more often, would I be in this situation? Since you like to see me blush, let me return the favour." With that Jason placed a deep, soft kiss on Jenny's lips. With flushed cheeks and closed eyes, Jenny returned his kiss, as she was held in Jason's embrace.
