Desensitized

After finishing breakfast, they went to the hotel lobby, where they hired two bikes. Making use of the good weather they were having, they got their exercise and a chance to tan as they made their way to the place they had agreed to meet with Kim, Kelly and Linda. When they arrived, the others were already waiting for them, waving enthusiastically to let them know where they were seated. Jason spotted them first, so he tapped Jenny on the shoulder and pointed her in their direction with his chin. As she turned and they came into her line of sight, a bright smile formed on Jenny's face as she returned their wave. Jenny walked over with a high pace, dragging Jason with her from behind. When they reached their table, the chatting of the reunited friends began instantly, ignoring Jason's existence completely. Contrary to the other people at the lunchroom, whose eyes seemed glued to him from the moment he walked in. Though Jenny's friends found him to be an incredibly handsome man as well, him being with Jenny made him a forbidden fruit and was best not to be looked at for too long. They couldn't be fawning over their best friends' fiancé and they didn't want him and his good looks to ruin other men for them. After coming back from England last time, they had a hard time seeing handsomeness in other men due to Jason and his friends. Making them wonder what it was they had to eat over there for them to turn out that way. Having personally witnessed that not all men looked as handsome as they did, they found it best to not look at him directly and treat him as invisible instead. That way they couldn't be tempted by his looks either and could focus on the eligible men around them, so that they might find love themselves as well. When the second round of twenty questions began, Jason got up to go to the bathroom. Again he got no reaction from the people at the table, other than a quick glance from Jenny after removing his hand from her leg. What no one expected was that when he returned, he didn't come empty handed. He was holding a large glass of fresh mint tea and a piece of cake. The moment he placed both of them down in front of Jenny, all eyes were finally turned to him. With such a display of public affection, they could no longer ignore his presence. As the people at the table fell silent, Jenny looked up at Jason with a bright smile and said "Thanks babe, I was eyeing those cakes for a while now." Jason chuckled at her thinking she had been subtle about it and said "I know. That is why I went for the one you had been looking at the most. Did I get it right?" Jenny had a wide grin on her face as she replied "Definitely, this is perfect!". He turned to the other girls who were clearly staring with their mouths open and said "Sorry, I didn't know what you would like, otherwise I would have brought something for you girls as well. If you see anything you like, you can ask the waiter to bring it, it will be my treat." Answering Jason's offer with nothing more than a silent nod, they turned to grab Jenny's hand and said with newfound enthusiasm "Are you kidding me! He is this handsome, rich and treats you like a bloody princess." "Who did you save in your last life?" "Where can I find a man like that of my own?!" Jason sat back down and returned to the game on his phone till the attention would be turned to him. Till then he wouldn't disturb their little catch up game. "I didn't find him, his mother found me." Jenny chuckled as she grabbed his hand and realized how lucky she was once more. Jenny had sometimes become immune to his handsomeness, having fallen in love with his actions more than his looks, so she didn't always notice the big difference between him and other guys. Especially being around men like him and his friends on a daily basis, waking up next to a face like that and having grown up with three very handsome brothers, she was no longer fazed by good looks. Of course, objectively speaking she could tell he was handsome, but she had been desensitized to his handsomeness. It was actions like these that made her feel attracted to him as much as she was. These actions far outweighed his looks. To her his looks weren't his most outstanding feature, so she wasn't as focused on it as other people seemed to be. Even if he had been less attractive objectively speaking, she would still have found him the most handsome guy in the world, because of how he treated her. His actions, which made her fall for him over and over again, was what could make her feel butterflies and turn her into a flustered maiden any day of the week. All she needed from him was the slightest touch or an unexpected affectionate moment and she could feel the tingling and fluttering in her stomach. It was only during random moments, mainly when others talked about him and brought it up or when she noticed others staring at him, that her focus was brought to his looks and she would say to herself "he really is a handsome man". It was this way of thinking what Jason loved about Jenny. She didn't like him for his looks, money or status. She liked him for himself. Not holding back when she spoke to him and seeing though all his moves and acts. Knowing that those factors didn't affect her reason for staying with him, gave him some assurance but made him somewhat insecure as well. Because he didn't know the reason she was with him, he felt that he had no control in her staying with him either. This caused a certain fear that she would leave him some day and he wouldn't know how to bring her back, because he didn't know what he had done in the first place to gain her affections. This fear was what was fuelling his jealousy at times, not wanting any other eligible man around her and if possible, no other man to begin with. By spoiling her the way he did, giving into her whims, he planned to ruin her for all other men. Using that as his personal safety measure!
