Defensive

Meanwhile at the nursing home Jenny was still battling through her first day. Despite having a long day behind her and her workday having finished already, Jenny had no intention to go home yet as she was still focused on the charts, trying to think hard of what the doctor had said and piecing his words back together from the answers she had gotten from the nurses and the residents that seemed clear minded. When the doctor got ready to leave for the day, he saw that Jenny was bent over a desk, still working on the charts of today's rounds. As he saw the earnestness in her eyes and the serious expression on her face as she tried to retrace what his instructions had been, he thought to himself 'Maybe I was wrong about her? Maybe I was a bit too harsh...' With his coat in hand he walked up to her and started pointing out what she had missed and all her mistakes. Not wanting to seem like he was helping her or approving of her, he kept making nasty remarks with each thing he added or pointed out. 'This isn't some game, write it properly, it should say give twice daily." "Are you trying to kill Mrs. Swan? Those are the instructions for Mrs. Smith."

After she had completed the notes, she turned to him with a bright smile and said, "Thank you for your help. I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. Well, maybe I would have, but it would have taken me a lot longer." Jenny's words and action caught him by surprise. Instantly he became defensive and said, "Who was helping you? I was only thinking about my patients. I couldn't let them become victim of your incompetence." After saying what he wanted to say he walked away and went home, half an hour later than what he had planned. Jenny chuckled as she watched him leave and when she looked at the time, she hurriedly grabbed her things and went home as well.

The moment she stepped inside and went into the dining room, she saw Jason had already been impatiently waiting for her. They were alone tonight as her parents-in-law had a dinner party to attend, so he promised to wait for her before starting dinner. That way they could eat together and she could tell him about her first day, but she didn't expect to be home late on her first day already. Jenny felt a bit guilty to the sulking Jason who was doing something on his phone with a sour expression on his face. Not even looking up to greet her when she came in. So, she came in and walked up to him and put her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek to try and coax him. She put on her sweetest voice and said, "Sorry I am late. Did you wait long?"

Jason was clearly not content yet and looked up slightly with a glare and said, "You know damn well I did. Is this what I have to expect from now on?" Still hanging onto his neck she continued, "Come on, sir grouch a lot. Let me off this time. Let's enjoy dinner like we were supposed to. I already said I am sorry didn't I? Or did I not pay enough for the toll?" With that she placed a kiss on his other cheek and looked at his face innocently. Seeing the corners of his lips twitch, Jenny added a peck on his lips before pulling her face away again and looking at him with big eyes, while excessively blinking. Jason, who was working hard to keep an angry expression on his face, finally cracked. He shot into a laugh and grabbed Jenny, who was hanging onto him sideways, by her neck. Putting her in a kind of choke hold. "Ugh, what am I gonna do with you, hmm? I just can't stay mad at this silly face." Jenny flashed him a big grin and replied cheekily, "Good, because these looks and your weakness for them are all I am counting on." Jason shook his head in disbelief and put another kiss on her lips before releasing her. "Take a seat you silly goose, so we can finally start eating. I am famished."

While Jenny was happily chatting about her day and hiding most of the bad stuff, Jason stayed quiet about his. It appeared like he had chosen to not tell Jenny about what he had found out about Max. Smiling at her stories about what she had experienced and how excited she was about her job. After dinner, Jenny went upstairs to finally get out of her clothes and took a nice warm bath to relax from her long day, before putting on her pajamas. After that she decided to stay upstairs and read a book before going to bed early. Her first day had been quite strenuous, so she was quite exhausted almost falling asleep during dinner. In the time she was upstairs, Jason took his chance to put his plan in motion. Though he had decided that doing nothing wasn't an option, he decided to leave the actual actions for someone else. Someone impartial. He sent a message to his father about how one of his trading partners had been involved in illegal trading and sent him the part of the file about Max's father. With that, whatever his father would decided to do with the information, it would be a fair punishment.
