Cute.

After escaping from the suffocating car ride, where she just barely managed to think up something to say to the ever so taunting Jason, she immediately rushed into the bathroom. There she was attempting to calm her heart after locking herself in and she tried to think of a way to save herself from her impending doom. During her anxious state, while pacing back and forth in the small closed off space, her eyes fell on her reflection in the bathroom mirror and an idea suddenly popped in her mind. More than once had she been attacked by Jason during their four years of marriage and on almost all of those occasions he had used her 'looking cute' as the reason for this. So, she thought to herself what he would do if she did not look 'cute'?

Sneaking out into the room, she tried to avoid Jason's curious looks. He had taken a seat on the bed after bringing their suitcase inside and followed her every step. He watched her walk out of the bathroom she had been taking refuge in after what he imagined was an embarrassing moment for her, only to rush back in after grabbing a few things from their suitcase. Just before she closed the door, their eyes met for a brief second and she turned her angsty look in a sharp glare. Causing him to chuckle while he let himself fall back onto the bed. Without having a single clue as to what Jenny was attempting, he already started to look forward to whatever Jenny was planning in there. Because if her actions in the past were any indication, he could be certain that it would give him much amusement.

Meanwhile in the bathroom, Jenny was hard at work to put her plan into action. Using all the colours she normally had no use for to create what she considered to be the most gruesome make-up. Putting on thick layers and putting things where they normally didn't belong. Just using whatever she could find to distort her otherwise charming features. Her revised look didn't just stop at her make-up. Wearing all kinds of chains and spikes, to make herself look as far from her usual self as possible. Hoping that this would be enough to make herself look unattractive in Jason's eyes. It wasn't even that she was against the act itself, nor were her actions fully caused by her concern for her physical wellbeing after going along with the type of week Jason had requested, though it certainly played a big part. No, it was the smug expression Jason would have if she would give into him after her tough words during the plane ride, that had pushed her over the edge and forced her to act out like this. Even one day of victory would mean victory overall. But this day would only learn Jenny that once Jason was out to get something, there was very little that could stop him. Including her little shenanigans.

When Jenny had put the finishing touches on her look and was finally ready to come out of the bathroom, Jason was already sitting on the edge of the bed with anticipation. But when Jenny walked out with an air of confidence and challengingly said, "Well Mr. Never regret, how do you like me now?", she didn't get the reaction she was hoping for. As she was standing in the middle of the room with her nose lifted in the air from seeing Jason's initially shocked reaction, already feeling the victory in her grasp, she was pulled back to reality when she heard Jason burst into laughter. When she looked in his direction, she saw him grabbing his sides from laughing too hard, even having fallen to his side on the bed. Then she watched him pull himself back up and wipe away a single laughter tear that had formed in the corner of his eyes with his long, slender fingers, before he said the words she did not expect to hear. The words she had worked so hard to avoid and had dreaded hearing. With a loving smile, that reached all the way to his eyes, he said just one word. "Cute."

It was at these moments that Jason could not understand why people said that the first few years of marriage are the hardest. No matter how he looked back at his years with Jenny, despite there being some difficult periods, these past years have been the best years of his life. There has never been a single day during their time together where he even thought about wanting to leave her. It is exactly at these so called difficult periods or hard times that you grow stronger as a couple. Each hardship is an experience you go through together and becomes something that binds you. The more you go through, the stronger that bond becomes. But only if you are willing to go through it together and stand by each other's side can you see the rainbow that comes after the rainfall. Not blaming each other but helping each other instead will allow the good times to come faster. At least so far that has worked like a charm for them.

After being together for almost seven years and being married for over four, there wasn't a single thing he would want to change about their lives together. Even those weeks where he had to do without her were essential to turn them into the people they are today and to get them to where they are now. So, there wasn't a thing left to wish for. Except maybe a little sister for Charlie. Though if he brought that up now with Jenny, that would only result in him having something thrown towards his head and ruin this fun little moment he was just presented with. And this was something he definitely wasn't willing to give up on!

Finally! The weekend is here and not a moment too soon. What a long week this was XD. Here we are with today's chapter and tomorrow we will have another double release.
