Bury the hatchet

After their talk the atmosphere between Nick and Elizabeth had finally gotten normal and they were ready to join the others once more. However now that everyone else knew that she had spent the night with Nick, Elizabeth's shyness grew. Though it seemed that she was desperate to hide this side of her, as she tried to play it cool the moment she was face to face with the others. She sat at the table with legs crossed, avoiding any eye contact as if she was surrounded by nothing more than air. Nose high in the air and a drink in hand, she started taking bites from the food in front of her with a disdained look. This arrogant air that she was giving off and her stubborn nature, combined with her slightly flushed face and her awkward movements, made her appear very lovable to the others. Once she felt their eyes on her, she turned to look at them, only to find them with huge smirks on their faces. Even Nick couldn't help look in her direction with a look of amusement.

With a clearly flustered voice she said "W-what? Do I have something on my face?". Julia, who couldn't take it anymore said "Yes, this!" as she jumped forward and placed a kiss on her cheek. Elizabeth was flabbergasted and tried to push the arms that were wrapped around her neck away as she said "W-what are you doing you weird girl? Who wants to be kissed by you?" Ignoring all her struggles, Julia pulled her even closer as she said "Ah Lizzy, you are so cute! Who would have thought you had such an adorable side to you". "Who are you calling cute and adorable?! Let go of me! Stop treating me like some damn bunny!" This was the final drop for the Harry and George who broke out in laughter. Even Jason let out a chuckle behind the hand that was in front of his mouth.

Not expecting to see Jason laugh that unguarded around her again, made Elizabeth stop struggling as she looked in the direction of a friend she thought she had lost. Her drop in resistance became the excuse some of the others to join Julia and suddenly she was receiving hugs and hair ruffles left and right, making her face flush even more as she continued to speak words of protest she didn't mean. Jenny too felt happy for the both of them, and was looking in their direction with a gentle smile. She was happy that Elizabeth had confided in her in the end and they were able to bury the hatchet. The hostile situation between the two of them had lasted long enough. Who knows, this might even be an unexpected interpretation of her wish to gain some friends of her own? Maybe what happened today, could be the basis for a good friendship between her and Elizabeth. That would truly be the most positive outcome she could think of for all their altercations.

After some teasing they quickly enjoyed the dinner prepared by the men. The atmosphere was lively and laughter had filled the air around them. The last plate had just been cleared when the doorbell rang and the time had come for them to say goodbye to this villa. Everyone grabbed their bags and headed outside. Jason did a last run through before he closed the door behind him and joined the others in the car that had come to pick them up. Everyone looked out of the window and looked at the villa with some lingering emotion. The time they had spent there had been great and now that it was time to leave, they got to end their vacation with each person gaining something precious. For some it was a wonderful date, for others an unforgettable view, some were able to deepen their existing relationships and others were able to gain some new ones. Before they were even down the hill, plans were made to go on another trip together next year. By then it will hopefully not just be a reward for passing their exams, but a celebration of graduating from high school!

It was clear that their last day in Spain had been eventful, because the VIP section of the plane on the flight back was filled with silence. The stewardess that walked in to ask them if they had wanted anything to eat, saw each couple lying close to one another. Each were huddled up under a blanket from the airline and fast asleep. Only Jason was still half awake as he had his arm wrapped around Jenny, who had crawled into a little ball and was resting against his body. He could feel her small warm breaths against his chest, which was the only way he could tell that she was still breathing.

Apparently Jenny had been really scared of burglars in the past, which had caused her to train herself into breathing without making a sound. This training had turned into a uncontrollable habit over the years, which had caused Jason quite some stress in the beginning. Thinking that the one that was laying in his arms wasn't breathing, thinking he had shocked her too much, only to find out she was fast asleep. More than once had he placed his ears by her face or two fingers in front of her nose, just to make sure she was okay. Her shallow breathing combined with her lack of movements when she was deep asleep could compete with the dead. He had heard of people not being able to sleep because their partner was too loud, never did he expect that he would experience a lack of sleep due to a partner that was too quiet. In the end he had settled on placing a hand on her stomach when they went to bed, that way the slight up and down movements could let him sleep with ease. Now that he had found a way to sleep when she was laying in his arms, all that was left was to convince this adorable creature to continue to stay there!
