Born into wealth

Jenny and Jason rushed over to the second event and just as they were about to enter Jason received a message. He quickly glanced at his phone and saw that it was from Harry, 'Where are you man? Are you still at that other party?'. He exhaled through his nose to indicate his amusement and looked over at Jenny, "Let's go. It seems they are getting impatient." Jenny smiled and followed him up the stairs, while holding the corner of her dress in one hand and Jason's hand in the other. Once she reached the top, she let go of the dress and they walked in hand in hand. It didn't take long for the people in the room to notice them and look in their direction. Jenny glanced over the room to see if she could spot their friends and Jason had been doing the same, but unlike her he had been successful in finding them. Again the room fell silent, catching the attention of their friends, who turned around as well to see what had caused the silence.

Jason and Harry locked eyes and the latter tilted his glass in the air to welcome him. Julia hurried over ignoring all the murmurs and grabbed Jenny's free hand. "Jenny! You are finally here!" She took a step back while still holding onto Jenny's hand "My god, look at you. You look stunning. I thought you said you would be wearing pink." Julia said questioningly. "I was, I had a little accident so I had to change. You would have loved that dress." Julia's eyes shot over to Jason and looked at his tie, that was still a light shade of pink to match her previous dress and then back at Jenny. Slowly the other friends Joined and they greeted the both of them as well. Julia's mind was still with the words Jenny had said before they had come so she continued where they had left off in their conversation. "What do you mean 'little accident'? Wasn't Jason with you?". Harry suddenly turned to Jason and said "Huh, accident. What is Julia talking about? Did you guys run into some kind of trouble?". Jason's face turned cold and Jenny let out a sigh as she looked at Jason's expression and she decided she might as well tell them. She looked around and saw that many people were still looking in their direction, so she decided it was best if they looked for a place a bit more quiet. "Let's get away from the entrance and I will tell you."

They agreed and went to a corner of the room, where Jenny told them the events that occurred at the previous party. They all listen in shock at the audacity of the women there and were proud at Jenny for the way she solved that situation. When the story of Elizabeth came they were slightly ashamed of the behavior of someone they had called a friend for so long. A person should know when to give up. Even George who had been her supporter through all of this started to lose that little bit of hope he had for her. They decided to not waste too much time thinking of events that had already passed and decided to have some fun. They were sure that Jason would punish those that had crossed the line, so there was no use worrying over it any longer. Instead what caught Jenny's eye was the ice cream bar in the back of the room! She grabbed Julia and a slightly shy Sophia by the hand and rushed over to enjoy the different flavors and toppings. They were sure to get a stomach ache from the amount of ice cream they were eating. The boys were left behind to discuss their own matters, which in this case was what they planned to do to get back at those women acting out of line at the previous party. In the upcoming days their families would meet their demise. If they were so fond of bragging about being born into wealth, he would allow them to experience life without any. He would make them lose their companies, their cars and even the roofs over their heads. Starting from scratch should humble them.

The next few events went by smoothly and Jenny and Jason were the talk of their upper circle's gossip hour. Not many people from these social circles had been invited to their engagement party. So many had only heard of Jenny, but had yet to see her. Now that she had been to these events as Jason's partner, it showed that their engagement wasn't just talk and it wasn't just a contract marriage, but they were an actual couple and she was a real sight for sore eyes to boot. Aside from the topics during afternoon tea, there were also the talks on the financial news and their school forum. Each day another test result was revealed as well as news about certain companies finding themselves in debt after their stocks had fallen drastically over the course of a couple of days. Now it was the last day of the work week and the three companies had fallen and all of them had passed all of their tests, including the worrying Jenny. So their plans for their week away could finally be confirmed and they could start packing. Jenny and Jason were in Jenny's room, who had started picking what to take along. Jason was sitting on her bed and was chatting with her as he was watching her pack way more than she could possibly need in those few days, when their phones made a notification sound. Jason looked at his phone and back to Jenny who was waiting to hear what it was, "It's out. You ready to look defeat in the eyes", he said with a provocative tone of voice and cheeky brow movements to match. The notification was from the app of their school to inform them that the school rankings were published on the school website.

Jenny was certain that Jason couldn't be too far up in the list as he had barely touched a book during their entire exam week, so she crossed her arms confidently and said "I'll be sure to keep a close eye on your face as not to miss it." Jason opened the ranking and laughed as he threw his phone over the bed for Jenny to see. Her confident stance broke and with a look of worry she picked up his phone and looked at the screen. "Impossible! There must be a mistake." "Why are you so shocked, is something wrong?" "How could you possibly be number one?! Not just in our class, but in the entire school!" "Hahaha, Aren't you proud of your future husband? Now that you have lost our little bet, what will you give me?" "I refuse this outcome. There must be a mistake. How could someone who didn't study at all be first?!" "Hey, it's not my fault that I am smart. Shouldn't you be happy for me, instead of convincing yourself that there must be a mistake. Don't tell me you are going to be a sore loser and that is why you are evading my question?" Jason had put his hands on both sides of his face to express his fake shock. Jenny shot him an angry look before throwing the summer dress she had just folded to his face "Shut it! I never recall betting you anything, just a promise to make you lose. So you aren't getting anything!" She stuck out her tongue as she said these final words and quickly continued to scroll to find her own name, hoping her vigorous studying had payed off..

As promised another chapter for today, ending our spree of events. Sadly I wasn't able to publish as much as I wanted today, but I plan on publishing some more tomorrow and the day after that. This chapter is extra long, so I hope you will enjoy!

For now a good night and you will hear from me somewhere tomorrow, hopefully more than once :D
