Before we know it

Once they had enjoyed a bit of everything, Jenny and Jason took an early leave. Jason had worked hard the past couple of days to free up not only time for Jenny's celebratory evening but also to attend their friends' wedding. Aside from planning their wedding, which he was doing mostly on his own as he wanted Jenny to focus on her exams, he had plenty of company matters to take care of with his deadline to join the main office nearing rapidly. Jenny in her turn had been studying non-stop with him at the office after working hard to prepare herself for the entrance exams at school. Both of them were exhausted and still had a busy day ahead of them. So, they decided to cut the party short and give themselves some proper rest. On the ride back to Westwood mansion, Jenny took the time to show her appreciation for his help today once more. Despite all the joking, she knew he had to pull quite a few strings to have all that prepared in such a short amount of time and he had done so without complaint or expecting any reward or credit. Even taking the jokes in stride. This, even though he must have been quite tired, considering the week he has had.

"That was a really nice thing you did back there. You didn't have to take care of everything like that, but you still did. All jokes aside, I appreciate you doing that to make our friends' big day become a day of happiness instead of day of worry." Jason turned towards her and said, "I didn't do it for them, but if you really want to show your appreciation I have better ways for you to do it." With a flirtatious smile and daring eyes, he looked at her who regretted her choice of words. "Well? Are you going to show your sincerity or are you going to stick to just words and no action."Jenny folded her arms and said, "If you are being so smug about it, then no. A verbal thanks is all you are going to get. I wouldn't want you to fall off that ego and hurt yourself." Jason chuckled as he pulled Jenny over and planted a kiss on the side of her head. He rested her head against his chest before he placed his head against hers. Quietly enjoying the rest of the ride, while holding his feisty tigress in his arms.

By the time they reached the Westwood mansion, Jason had dozed off. Jenny had felt his breathing slowing down and his body relaxing during the ride, which let her know that he had fallen asleep without her looking up to confirm it. Though she didn't want to wake him and she had made sure to keep herself from moving too much during the ride, now that they had arrived she had no longer had a choice. Where Jason could easily carry her to bed, she couldn't do the same for him. Instead she tried to wake him as gently as possible. Patting his chest softly while calling out his name. She turned sideways slowly and looked up as she moved her hand towards his face and repeated her actions. This time instead of patting, she gently stroked the side of his face, making his brows furrow as he started to wake up. He opened his eyes groggily and looked around for a brief moment as he was taking his surroundings in. "Did we get back home already? That was fast.", he asked with a sleepy voice. Jenny chuckled. "If you are asleep, everything seems to pass by quickly."

No really noticing he had fallen asleep, Jason responded a bit confused. "I fell asleep?" Jenny chuckled again. "Ask the drool spot on top of my head" She responded jokingly. Jason looked down towards the smiling Jenny. "Was I asleep for long?" Jenny shook her head. "No. Though I don't know when you fell asleep exactly, the ride over isn't that long to begin with. But I was surprised to see you falling asleep before me. Usually it is me that falls asleep. Seeing you fall asleep so quickly after boarding the car made it clear that you are more tired than I thought. We should head to bed. You worked hard these past few days, you have earned an early night."

Jason let out a low chuckle and said, "I 'earned' an early night, hmm? I am glad that I have your approval your majesty. With your blessing I am sure that I will be able to fall asleep peacefully." During their little back and forth they stepped out of the car and headed inside. In the living room they were greeted by Susan and Stephen who were waiting for the two of them. "You two are home earl." "Yes. We still have a lot to do tomorrow. So, we didn't want to make it too late." Though they wanted to ask them how the wedding had been, they saw that they didn't have the energy to sit and chat with them. At least Jason didn't seem like he would be up to it. So, Susan held herself back and smiled and nodded when Stephen told them that they had made a good choice and said that they should head up early and that they would talk tomorrow.

As they watched the two of them go up, Stephen let out a small sigh. "It won't be long before we will be attending their wedding. In just three more weeks they will be saying their 'I do's' and will leave for three weeks on their honeymoon. After that Jason will start spending more time at the head office. It will be a big change for them and for us too. Our son is starting to become a grown man. Before we know it he will have children of his own and we will be grandparents." Susan wasn't used to seeing him like this and was looking at him sideways before lowering herself back onto his chest as she hugged him and looked into the distance while she too started to think about the changes that were headed towards them.

Here we are with today's chapter. It is much earlier than usual as some time opened up for me today. I hope you enjoy and I will be back here tomorrow with another small time jump.
