Anywhere but here

Jenny watched as Jason left the pond and walked further and further away from her. Had she been too harsh? Or did she wait too long to make the nature of their relationship clear? But who knew he would flip the switch so quickly. Going from gold digger to marry me. Not in her wildest dreams did she expect this to happen. Why did this happen as she was about to leave. What if she didn't manage to clear the air between them before her flight left. Though she spoke nothing else but the truth, she did not want to leave on this note. She at least wanted to be able to be friends with him. Otherwise this trip would have been a waste. She had gotten to appreciate the Westwood's as a whole, if she was to be known as the person who broke their sons heart, would they still want to have anything to do with her? As she was thinking this, she snapped out of it. No,,what kind of selfish thinking was this. How could she be thinking about the consequences for herself, when Jason was clearly upset about what had just happened. She would go after him and see what she could do. It hadn't been long since he left, she was sure to find him if she tried hard enough. She still had three hours before she was to leave for the airport. She would use this time to find Jason and save what could still be saved of their relationship.

Contrary to what Jenny thought, Jason did not return to the house. Instead he had called one of his friends, to pick him up by the gate. He did not want to see or speak to anyone who knew about Jenny. He wasn't ready for questions and he certainly wasn't ready to face Jenny again. He had never been rejected before, so for this girl to do this not once but twice, was something that he had trouble accepting. She had just shattered his hope and his heart. Was this what fate had brought him after he finally decided to try trusting and hoping again. If this kind of pain was what loving someone would bring, then he would have none of it. It was best to return to his previous ways. At least that way no one could hurt him. The one he had called was Harry, he was the friend Jason was closest to. Harry could see with one glance that Jason was upset and that it was best for now to not ask questions, but focus on getting his mind on something else. Who still had this kind of effect on him? Jason had closed himself off for most people, so whoever this person was, they sure knew how to get to him. He had seen Jason angry plenty of times, but it had been a long time since he had seen his friend so hurt. "Where to my friend? Do you want to go to my place or do you want to go to the roof?" "I don't care. Anywhere but here." Jason answered.

In silence both friends went to the roof of the school and Jason stared at the view trying to ease his mind. While looking in the distance he was holding on to the ring casing and was rubbing the velvet box with his thumb. In a flash of sudden anger at remembering what had happened he tightened his grip on the box. The veins on his hand started showing and his face turned from a calm distant expression into one of anger. He prepared himself to throw the ring into the far distance, but was stopped midway by Harry. He looked around with a fierce expression and saw his friend shaking his head with a slightly sad expression. "Don't do this man. That ring has been in your family for decades. Though I don't know what happened, but seeing that you are holding the famous proposal ring in your hands, I assume your current state has to do with a girl. Just because she isn't deserving of this ring, does not mean no one ever will be. It might not feel that way right now, but I am certain that if you throw this away you will come to regret it." At this Jason's expression softened again. And looked incredibly sad. So sad that it even made Harry feel like being stabbed in the heart. What had happened in such a short time for his friend to go from so happy to this level of sadness. Harry watched his friend slowly slide down to the floor and sit against the gate surrounding the roof. Harry sat down beside him and after a few minutes of silence and watching Jason do nothing else but stare at the ring casing he asked "Can you tell me what happened? If you don't want to talk about it that is fine, but I want to help you if I can and for that I need to know what has gotten you in this state" Jason did not break his eye contact with the ring box as he recalled the story of what had happened.

Inspiration is flowing and another chapter is out. Another one is on it's way. Enjoy!
