Another satisfied 'customer'

From that day on, the assistant had done exactly that. Though back then perfection cost him a lot more time, by now he understood what his boss wanted so well as if the task was thought up by himself. Being born an orphan with a tainted past, having been hired to sabotage Stephen, hearing those words from Stephen, those words of 'we' meant more to him than he could ever possibly know. It made him betray his original employers and instead made him decide to support Stephen with all he got and for the first time in a long time made him believe in someone again. He would be willing to give his life for him, but all he wanted was for him to do his best, so that was the least he could do. Almost two hours later he was called back into Stephen's office, "Send this to the Westwood mansion and order us some lunch." With a gentle smile the assistant nodded and grabbed the file, there it was again, that precious word that made him belong, 'us'. With a satisfied feeling, he left the office room and went to perform his next task.

When the file reached Jenny, Stephen had another satisfied 'customer'. She glanced over the selected companies and jobs and her eyes were filled with excitement. Each one of these were amazing opportunities and payed even more than she had imagined. Even the applying for the job and the allowing her to work under a false name had been taken care of. Her father-in-law sure was amazing. She would be sure to thank him properly when he came home later today.

When Jason came to their room and looked over the list, he too was quite impressed with the meticulous work that had been done, but he recognized his father's assistants handiwork with a single glance and couldn't find a single flaw either. From the position to the location, there was nothing for him to protest and now he had to admit defeat. He never expected Jenny to turn to his father for help. Having no grounds to reject the jobs on, he had to accept that his time with Jenny was going to lessen even further. If it wasn't that she had just turned their short term truce into a long term one, he wouldn't have been so 'fine' with all of this. "Isn't it great Jace!" With a sigh he placed a kiss on the top of Jenny's head and replied "Yes, yes, it is mighty impressive." After that he took a seat behind her and put his arms around her waist before resting his head on her shoulder as he listened to her enthusiastic talking. "Each one of these jobs are perfect for me. I was hoping that there would be at least one okay job that I could take to reach my goal, but I never expected to get three amazing ones that I would have difficulty picking from. Especially considering how fast the job was done. I have to find a way to show my gratitude towards father. What would make him happy?"

Jason who was somewhat unhappy with the unchangeable situation before him, saw an opportunity to pay his father back for the 'favour' he did. Gratitude for helping Jenny reduce their time together, not a chance. He didn't deserve her gratitude. Seeing a chance to tease Jenny and bully his father Jason said, "Why would you do something to make him happy, it was clearly someone else who prepared this list." Jenny turned her head around to face him as she said, "What do you mean? Who else knew of this and could get the job done so well." Jason scoffed, "Did you really think that a man as busy as my father would bother with picking out a job for you and contacting all these people. He simply passed on your requirements to his assistant and probably even had him send it over to you. He had as much to do with that list as you and I."

Jenny narrowed her eyes, having an idea what Jason was trying to do. "Well, that just proves he is a great leader as he knows how valuable his time is and knows how to delegate. As long as the job gets done, it shouldn't matter if he asked someone to do it for him." Again Jason scoffed, "A great leader would be able to get the job done, without relying on someone else. The real person who deserves any form of thanks is that assistant, but then again, he gets paid to do this so even there no need to go out of your way." With glaring eyes Jenny turned her body sideways and pinched Jason's cheeks as she said, "Jason. Stop. Being. Petty. I know what you are trying to do and I won't have it. In fact, because of this, I will now not prepare one thank you present, but two!"

Having been clearly caught and his plans having backfired, Jason took compensation for his loss. He still had his arms around her waist and Jenny being in the unstable sideways position that she was, he gave one pull and had her pressed against his body with her arms locked underneath his, before placing a kiss on the lips of the woman who looked at him so angrily. If she was going to give something to two other men for one act of kindness, then he too deserved something to even the score!

And a special thanks to Humaira_Jarjisa for her kind and supportive words (^∀^●)ノシ
