An evening of romance

The rest of their date went by in a flash. They visited nearly all the stalls and she and Jason won more than one prize. They went onto the Ferris wheel, the bumper cars and even the flying chairs and the spinning teacups. After such a successful day, they headed back to the hotel with satisfaction. With soft laughter, they walked into the hotel lobby, gaining the attention of the people present. They were both beautiful people, so when they were standing so close to each other and flashing such bright smiles, people couldn't help but feel drawn to them. If their own looks weren't enough, a girl walking with a stuffed animal that was almost the same size as herself, would surely steal the attention of most people in any room. Other than that bear Jenny had her eyes on from the very beginning, all other toys that they had won were donated to a charity booth that was located at the end of the fair, who were collecting the 'unwanted' toys for an orphanage nearby.

Unaware of the looks they were getting, or perhaps already numb to the stares from what they were facing each day at school and when they went into town back in England, they headed to their room. They had to get changed, because they had planned to go on a romantic dinner for tonight and it was a restaurant with a dress code. Though Jenny was more of a McDonalds/pasta kind of girl than a high-end restaurant girl, Jason had been raised with a different pallet and enjoyed an occasional fine dining. So, each of them gave in to the other's wishes every now and again and tonight was Jenny's turn.

Though not exactly something she craved for or was used to, she couldn't say she didn't enjoy what she was served on Jason's nights. Where most of the foods on the menu were pure jibber jabber to her, Jason always knew how to pick a dish that suited her tastes. Jason particularly enjoyed picking her meal for her, taking pride in the task he was given for those nights. To him, it made those evenings even better and he would take his time in picking. He wanted no failures on his track record and he currently had a score of 10/10. Only after careful consideration of what she usually enjoyed and what the restaurant was famous for, would he select Jenny's meal. But what he enjoyed most were the expressions on Jenny's face. From a shocked surprise from what she was tasting to a happy one from enjoying every little bite. So, he was looking forward to another night of meal-statistics!

Once in the room, Jenny grabbed the dress she had prepared for tonight and headed into the bathroom to change. While she was putting on her dress, Jason started taking off his shorts and shirt and changed them for a pair of summer slacks and a dress shirt. When he was just about to button up his sleeves, Jenny walked out of the bathroom and he chuckled at what he saw. Jenny turned to him and asked "What's wrong? Why are laughing?". Jason hid his laugh behind his closed hand and replied, "I don't think you will be able to wear that dress tonight." With a confused look on her face Jenny asked, "Why? What's wrong with this dress?" "Well there isn't anything wrong with the dress itself, but maybe you should look in the mirror first, then you will know what I mean." Jenny headed back to the bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. It was here that she saw the obvious mark he had left just under her clavicle, which stood out like a sore thumb from sides of her long, flowy dress with tie-up straps.

She looked at the large irregular shaped bruise and was wondering how she could possibly cover it up in time for their dinner reservation when Jason came into the door opening. "Do you have anything else you can wear, or do we need to find a store on the way to buy you a new dress for tonight?" Jenny turned around with a glare on her face, regretting her "No backsies" promise to him. As if he could read her mind, Jason said "Hey, don't forget. You said 'no backsies'. So no changing your mind now." From between clenched teeth she said, "I know." before walking past him and going through her suitcase to see if there was another dress she could wear. She found a little black dress with capped short sleeves and was relieved she had decided to pack that dress at the last moment. She hadn't planned on bringing anything black as she enjoyed the bright colours she got to wear during the summer and the dark colours drew the sun to you, making the clothes a lot less cooling. But as Coco Chanel said, "Every girl needs a little black dress" and she was glad she listened when she picked what to bring along.

She quickly changed, fixed her hair, and applied a little make up. When she was ready to leave for the restaurant, Jason pulled her close from behind and placed a kiss on her cheek. "Don't be mad, okay. Someday you'll laugh at this, I promise. I didn't think about tonight when I did that." Jenny let out a sigh as she placed her arms around Jason's and leaned back into his hug. "I'm not mad. If I didn't have a dress to change into and we had to miss our reservation, then I would be mad, but now I was just annoyed. But that could be the hunger talking as well" Jenny said as she chuckled. "Well, then we better hurry, before that hunger causes anger!" Jason pressed another kiss on her other cheek and let go of his grip around her. He grabbed her hand and they walked out to the car that was waiting for them out front. Jason opened the door for Jenny and once she was seated, he headed to the other side to take his seat. Once both doors were closed, the driver started up the car and they were on their way to an evening of romance.
