Am I too late?

The steward had thought of everything and had even prepared an airport-cart in advance, in case they had to race the clock. And a good thing he did, because they did not have much time. They had to still go through customs and go all the way to gate 35! This gate was located on the opposite side of the airport. If they had walked it would take them 30 minutes easily. Luckily they were able to stop a customs personnel just before he was going home for the day as he had finished his night shift. Both Jenny and the steward clasped their hands together to plead the man to help them pass through before he went home. Jenny's mother couldn't help but laugh at these two. The customs employee shook his head and sighed before logging back into his computer. He quickly checked the two pieces of carry-on and within a few minutes they were on their way to the gate.

This was a day filled with close calls, because as they arrived at the gate, a female steward was just about to close the gate and the door to the tunnel. When she heard her colleague calling out her name, she stopped what she was doing. When she saw what was happening, she too lit up and smiled at the party of three. As all of them hurried to the door, the stewardess closed the tunnel and they all entered the plane. As one closed the door to the plane, the other showed Jenny and her mother to her seat. As the moment to see Susan again came near, Jenny got nervous. How was she to face the woman she had talked to so harshly. As she was counting the rows of seats, while edging closer to her own seat, she could feel her throat getting dry. - 6E, 7E, 8E,...- She counted on in her mind, while going through different scenarios of how their inevitable meeting would go. Would they be happy she came, would she see relieve that she had finally accepted their offer or... and this was the scenario she dreaded the most.. would they be disappointment for making them wait so long for her answer, making them anxious and waiting till the last moment to show up...?

The moment was there, 17E. She had arrived at her seat. As she stood in the opening of the aisle, she looked down to find Susan and Stephen having small talk. As Stephen glanced up at the individual who was clearly looking at them, his eyes grew a bit wider and he quickly formed a smile. He gave Susan's hand a light squeeze and pointed in Jenny's direction. As she turned around and saw Jenny standing in front of her, she pulled her hand away to cover her mouth as she was in shock. Jenny looked at her shyly and gave a faint smile, "am i too late?".

"No, of course not. You are right on time dear." Susan said as she stood up to hug Jenny. "I am glad I had faith till the last moment. See Stephen, I knew she would come! Now who is being foolish to buy tickets in advance and leaving them at the check-in desk." She said mockingly as she grabbed Jenny's hand. "I sent you a message and tried to call you a couple of times, but it went to voicemail instantly" Jenny said, as to explain her sudden appearance. "Ugh, I knew I should have just went ahead and bought a new phone. Just as we were getting in the cab my phone fell from my hand and it broke. I wanted to buy a new phone, but Stephen kept telling me that I shouldn't bother as the phones from here don't work with the providers from the UK". As she was saying this, she gave Stephen a sharp glare as he turned his face away and pretended everything in the world was more interesting than his wife's face. Jenny and her mother quickly took their seats as it was time for the plane to take off. It was time for the real adventure to begin!

Finally the time for our main leads to meet has come! What will await Jenny as she arrives in the UK. Saturday will lift the tip of the veil ;)
