Already gone

After spending every possible hour of the afternoon and evening with each other, Jenny and Jason were both recharged. Early the next morning Jason was standing by their bedroom floor to ceiling window, wearing nothing more than a pair of shorts. Showing off his great physique with a serious expression. It was barely past six in the morning, but now that he had some quality sleep and now that Jenny had returned to his side, it was time for him to do something that was long overdue. Which was taking care of Max. Since he didn't know how to accept mercy when it was handed to him, he would show him the taste of revenge instead. While Jenny was still sleeping and before school had started he decided to set the first things in motion. He wanted to give Max no chance of return, burning down all his bridges simultaneously.

He started by doing what he initially had let slide. He called up the regulatory affairs office and reported Max's father's company for illegal trading. Sending them all the information his contact had sent him. Letting their company crumble would ensure their bankruptcy shortly and meant that he wouldn't be able to afford the tuition at Mountforth High nor at any of the elite private schools in the neighborhood. After that he had their company put on a blacklist, to make sure they wouldn't be able to make a restart if he should be cleared of the charges. This way, the only way his family could have another successful business ever again, is if they would start over in another country. So, be it short term or long term, he would have no way of coming anywhere near Jenny. He wanted to pick a fight with the devil, now he would find out what that actually meant. More so, what it meant when he wasn't forced to back off for Jenny's sake. And lastly, he had someone track his whereabouts, as he also had a personal lesson to teach him.

By the time Jenny woke from her slumber, Jason had already taken care of everything and had returned to bed to snuggle with Jenny in the few minutes they had left before they needed to get out of bed. All in all, he had a productive morning. However mean this might seem, this was still him playing nice because he didn't want his payback to result into Jenny get angry at him for being to harsh if she found out what he had done. If he truly let his inner devil free, Max would be within an inch of his life and he would close off the road for his entire family, not just his parents nor just within the borders.

When they arrived at school it was no surprise to either of them that Max wasn't there to help with their morning preparations. Thankfully, they had come earlier than usual as they had predicted as much. Jason walked her to the room where she usually did the morning preparations and instead of waiting with her or helping her, he gave her a short kiss goodbye, told her he couldn't walk her to class as he had something to take care of and walked off. Though Jenny found this somewhat odd, she didn't think much of it and started on what she needed to do. Later when she walked to their group of friends, who were chatting happily by Jason's classroom, she noticed that Jason had apparently still not returned.

She greeted all of them and she was of course bombarded with the questions they forced themselves to hold back yesterday. "Well, what's the verdict? Yesterday you guys sneaked off without saying anything and even this morning neither of you was present. So, tell us, did you guys make up?" Jenny nodded in response. "Yes, we did. Sorry to make you guys worry." George replied, "Don't sweat it. It's all part of the job right?" Jenny chuckled and thought to herself how well matched he and Sophia were as they are both kindhearted. Nick's curiosity was next. He asked, "What happened to Max?"

Jenny shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. After I caught him lying I haven't seen or spoken to him at all. By the time I returned to the classroom he was already gone and this morning he didn't show up for the prep-work either. So, I am afraid I am facing another day of sitting alone at a desk." Then she rolled her eyes as she added, "Not that I would be willing to sit anywhere near that guy at the moment." Elizabeth took the next moment of silence as her turn and asked, "Where did you leave Jason? Didn't you guys come to school together?" Jenny looked around with a lost expression as she said, "We did, but I don't know where he is. I thought he would be with you guys by now. He told me that he had something to take care of when he dropped me at the student lounge, but didn't tell 'what' he needed to take care of."

When she finished that sentence, the first bell rang and it was time for them to go to their own classrooms and seats. So, Nick put his arm around Elizabeth's shoulder. "That is our cue to get going Lizzy. Let's get some knowledge in that pretty little head of yours." and he tugged her along to her classroom under Elizabeth's audible chuckle. As Jenny watched their interaction with a solemn smile on her face, she was forced to follow by herself as the others entered their classroom. She thought to herself, 'Even now that Jason is supposed to be back by my side, I still have to walk to class alone.' and let out a soft sigh. But when she walked into her classroom, that sigh was retracted by a gasp.
