All's well that ends well

After all the classes of the day were done, Jenny prepared for another visit to Jason's office. They had been married for about half a year now and since Jenny's first time of bringing Jason a home cooked meal at the office, they had agreed that this would be a weekly ritual for them. Jenny enjoyed cooking for him and Jason enjoyed eating the meals prepared by her. It gave them that proper newlywed feeling and assured them of at least a few hours of quality time. Aside from that for Jason these weekly visits had another benefit. Not only was it quality time with Jenny it also was a nice distraction that motivated him to work harder on the days and hours before her visit. He would give it his all to make sure he would be able to enjoy their time together without worrying about all the work that needed to be done.

Because of this habit, his team also knew when Jenny would come to visit as the harder Jason worked, the harder they had to work. If it weren't for Jenny spoiling them as well when she came over, they would have a thing or two to complain about. But now they just watched their boss's blissful married life unfold before their eyes. They considered it a breath of fresh air compared to some of the other married couples in higher management they had witnessed during the time they had been working for Westwood International. Though they had to admit that with the recent personnel changes, that had changed somewhat too. The new higher ups seemed to be more approachable and so were their significant others.

Today was another one of those extra busy days, telling them that Jenny would be visiting. They were hard at work when the smell of food entered their nostrils. After the elevator doors opened, a few food delivery men walked onto their floor and they knew what time it was. Soon after the last person stepped out of the elevator, the second elevator opened its doors and the petite angel that had prepared this for them walked out. Her clicking and clacking sounding like music to their ears and the bright smile she greeted them with like food for their souls. They could hardly believe that this was the same woman who walked around here with an arrogant and disdainful expression on her face and was being scantily dressed. Back then she had been so unlikable and now she was one of their most beloved people at the office, despite not actually being a part of the office.

The cheerful sounds from the floor also caught Jason's attention who was still at work in his office and he too knew what time it was. He walked over to his door and before Jenny had a chance to knock on it, he had already opened it and was waiting for her by the entrance to his office. Jenny smiled when she saw him and walked over to him, giving him a hug and a peck on the lips. After that she said her goodbye to the team and they closed the door behind them, so that they could start eating as well.

As they were enjoying one of Jenny's spectacular meals, Jenny told Jason about her talk with Harry today. After that she also told him about what she had told Julia, whom she had called on her way over to Jason's office. "I needed to find a subtle way to address the issue without revealing what I had discussed with Harry. I didn't want to cause trouble between them by revealing something he might want to discuss with her himself or not at all and just want to solve by working on it instead of talking about it." Jason chuckled as it was a big progress from where she had started. Her meddling had more than once almost caused a fight in their friend group. "I am glad you are learning. So, what did you do in the end?"

"Ha, ha. Very funny." Jenny said in a clearly unamused tone of voice. "Well, I figured I would call her like usual and just ask her how she is doing and how she is doing with school. After the usual questions I could subtly said something like 'Wow, you sure are busy. How do you find the time to spend with Harry?' Once she admitted that she didn't have much free time on her hands these days, I had a perfect opening to say 'It must be tough on both of you. I guess that explains why Harry has been looking so down lately. He must be missing you.' I was sure that she would ask me more about how he was doing and if he was really seeming out of it. That way I could tell her that she should take the initiative to plan a date or something for the two of them or open up some time to just be affectionate with him. I told her that if she did that, it would show him that she cared and that she was missing him too. Ending it with a, 'Maybe it will create the space he needs to address the issue himself or maybe you showing you are willing to put in the effort will be enough for him to want to see where things are going.' After that she agreed and booked a couple's spa day for the two of them. So, all's well that ends well I guess."

Jason was impressed to see how well she had been able to manipulate that conversation. "Wow, you are one scary, impressive person. You played her like a violin. Remind me to never turn you into an enemy. With that skill of yours I am sure you can get me to confess about my deepest and darkest secrets without me even noticing." Jenny narrowed her eyes before she asked Jason, "Oh...Are you telling me that you are keeping secrets from me at the moment? I guess I have been too kind for you lately." Jokingly threatening him with the fork in her hand for lack of a better weapon. However, it was enough for Jason to plead for mercy. "No, of course not. How would I dare to keep a secret from my spouse. I value life too much for that dear. So lay down you weapon and accept my peace offering." Jason gave her a mouthful of his crème brûlée, which seemed to be the right price for his life as Jenny laid down her fork with a big, content smile on her face. It was followed by their laughter as they enjoyed what was left of their dinner.
