Airborne kiss

Jenny felt a wave of instant relief and a sense of happiness to see her son get along so well with her most important family members aside from her mother, who would always claim the number one position in her heart. When Susan noticed the two of them standing near the door opening of the French doors, she waved and called out to them. Making the other people that were present turn in their direction as well, including little Charlie, whose face instantly lit up even brighter than it was before as he desperately made his way over to his most beloved person. Alternating between attempts of running and crawling towards the two of them, whom he hadn't seen in too long a time. But just before he was able to crawl onto the stone pathway leading up to them, inevitably hurting his little bare legs and hands, Jenny rushed forward to stop him and lift him into her arms.

The moment she did, high pitched sounds of glee entered her ears as Charlie was loudly expressing his joy over her return. He was alternating between pressing hiding his face in her neck as he was hugging her as tightly as he could and staring at her face with a big smile on his. As if trying to determine whether what he was seeing was the real deal or just his imagination. Resembling his father in how he handled matters that seemed to good to be true. Jenny laughed happily as she hugged him just as tightly. While mother and son expressed how much they had missed each other, the father that had been left behind by the doorway slowly approached the two, ready to join them. When he had put his arm around Jenny's shoulder, he finally managed to catch his son's attention, who seemed to have only seen and cared about Jenny's return. As he pinched Charlie's nose between two fingers of his closed fist he said, "Hey you rascal. Is that any way to welcome your dear old father back?"

Letting out the most dorky and adorable laugh at Jason's hostile greeting, he held out his arms asking to be held by him. Jason turned around with a "Hmph" and crossed arms. Lifting his nose high in the sky and tightening his jaw to show Charlie that he was upset, which was of course nothing more than an act but that was something that Charlie was too young to understand or recognize. In an upset voice Jason responded, "No. It is too late to start thinking about me now. I perfectly understand where I stand in your eyes. I should hurry up and get your mommy pregnant again and pray that my next child will like me better than my first."

Though Jenny wanted to do nothing more than laugh at her husband's terrible acting and her restraint was tested even more when she was faced with her son's sad, questioning stare. Looking at her for the answers he wasn't able to come up with himself. Though she felt bad that her son was feeling sad over thinking that he had made his father feel upset, she couldn't help but feel that he was looking adorable. After collecting herself as well as she could, she responded to Charlie's wordless question with, "Oh no. Daddy seems upset. What can we do to make him feel better?" After staring up for a brief moment as she pretended to think of an answer she said, "I am sure he didn't like being ignored like that. He is jealous of the love you show mommy. So, why don't you say sorry to daddy and give him plenty of hugs and kisses to make up for it."

Charlie receiving a clear mission and instructions on how to reach his goal, he immediately took action. He started by pulling on Jason's shirt as hard as he could in order to get his attention. When Jason, who had been peeking from time to time from between the gaps of his otherwise closed eyes, turned around and replied in a convincing saddened anger, "What do you want?" To which Charlie responded with a most unexpected gesture that gave a pang to all of their hearts and made them wonder where he had learned to do such a thing.

While looking directly at Jason he kissed the palm of his hand before he blew the kiss in his direction. After that he topped it off with another heart-stealing bright smile, leaving both mother, father and the rest of the family at a loss of words for a moment. Once the initial shock had passed, Jason let out a loud laughter as he finally gave in to his son's demand and lifted him out of Jenny's arms and into his own. Jenny let out a high squeal as she tried to muffle the sound by covering her mouth and nose with both her arms pressed against each other. Proving that no one was immune to his level of cuteness. Not even the cold and stern Jason.

Charlie blowing his father a hand kiss was the talk of the rest of the day. All the way until it was time for dinner. With everyone attempting to find out how Charlie had learned to do that and from who but more importantly attempting to have him do it again. Preferably in their direction instead of Jason's. Yet none of them succeeding. Leaving Jason as the first and for now only lucky recipient of Charlie's first airborne kiss!
