A wise man

Breakfast was over. They had managed to drag breakfast out till lunch. Finally they were done with eating and cleaning up and were ready to start their day. Jason had to make sure that they didn't have any physical activities during the day, because he needed to have a reason for taking a walk before dinner. This was the same reason why he wanted breakfast to last as long as possible, because this way the time till dinner would be shorter. If they would have a snack in the time in between now and dinner, that would be eaten quite late as well and would provide him a reason for "preparing dinner" a bit later. Dinner would be prepared for them anyways, so it did not matter that they would be home later than usual. So far Jenny had not wished him a happy birthday or said anything about the subject. It was safe to say, she had forgotten that today was his birthday, allowing everything to continue as planned.

For this afternoon he wanted to sell the Easter mood by picking out two Easter themed movies. So after the cleaning, they went into the living room and got comfortable on the couch. Now that it was clear that Jenny reciprocated his feelings, Jason's movements became bolder. When he saw Jenny sitting in her usual corner of the couch he showed no hesitation. Where he would first jokingly try to get Jenny to come closer, he now just went over to that corner and picked Jenny up from her seat. Ignoring her face filled with shock and her sputtering at his actions, he sat her down next to him. He followed it by putting his arm around her and pulling her closer by the waist. He used that same hand to cup her one hand and used his other hand to hold her other hand, which he pulled over to his own lap. Leaving her with no means of escape he said "So, now that everything is in place, we can finally start the movie". Jenny was left speechless by this silly man's actions and after staring at him with a bewildered expression, she let out a chuckle before accepting her fate and focusing on the screen in front of her. By the time they were ready to start the second movie, Jenny figured if she had no choice on whether she would sit in his embrace or not, she might as well enjoy it fully. She removed her boots in the two minutes Jason had let her go so they could both go to the bathroom and he could put on the next movie. She snuggled in his embrace and placed her arm around his waist, before resting her head on the side of his chest where his arm connects to his body. Jason was slightly surprised, but a wise man knows when to ask questions and when to shut his mouth. This was a situation that belonged to the latter.

After two hours the movie was finished and the final credits came onto the screen. He looked at his watch and right now it was five minutes before five, time to set his plan into motion. He turned the TV off and turned his gaze to the woman in his arms. "Well milady, after all that sitting, how about we go for a nice walk before dinner around the gardens?" Jenny looked up at Jason and gave him an approving nod and a "Hmm, sounds good". Jenny went upstairs to change her high heeled booths for flat boots and Jason took this chance to go into the kitchen to hide the ring. He sent the baker's crew, who were already parked in front along with the caterers, a message saying they would leave in about five minutes. He would turn off the lights in the living room when they would walk out the door as a signal for them to enter. He had placed the key underneath the mat earlier this day, so they could open the door whenever the coast was clear. In a matter of minutes they had their shoes and coats on and were ready to face the cold. The temperature had dropped quite a bit, but this provided Jason with the perfect excuse to hold Jenny's hand during their walk. "Are you ready to go?" Jenny asked as she stood next to Jason in front of the French doors facing the garden. "Yeah, let me turn off the lights and the heater and we can go". Jason went to the light-switch and took a deep breath before turning them off and returning to Jenny like nothing was going on. With an unsuspecting smile they left the house and entered the cold.
