A two-man job

A few weeks had passed since Jenny and Elizabeth's lunch. Elizabeth had pulled through the weeks that Nick had been away to America and she had left for her belated honeymoon cruise. At the Westwood residence they were preparing for a Christmas eve party as they were the hosts this year. Though they could hire people to take care of these preparations for them, this was something that Susan and Stephen had enjoyed doing themselves as a family activity when they were growing up. They hadn't been able to do these things with Jason as a normal family for a long time. So, they refused to outsource it now that they finally could do it together. Besides, it was a great way to get in the spirit. Tomorrow they would all leave for Jason's grandparents' house. Where they would be spending first day of Christmas and the second day would be spent at the Westwood mansion with Jenny's family. Though they don't actually celebrate Christmas and neither does Jenny, they were happy to be invited and said they would celebrate along just as Jason's family had done with their culture's festivities. The more things to celebrate the merrier.

With that, Jenny was letting out a small sigh as she thought of how busy these precious free days would be. Though she enjoyed spending time with friends and family, she was looking forward to some quiet days of doing nothing. Both she and Jason had been so busy, that these days of free time seemed like a bright light at the end of a exhaustingly long tunnel. She had finished her exams and Jason had finished his project. So, after days of barely having time for each other, she didn't feel like sharing her time with Jason now that some had finally opened up. But with a holiday like Christmas she had no other choice. So, sighing about the situation was all she could do and focus on the positive sides of it all. Such as seeing Jason's grandparents again and getting to spend time with her mother and brothers. People who she also didn't see nearly as much as she would like.

Jenny put on a smile on her face and sang along with the Christmas songs that were playing on the background. She had been tasked with decorating the Christmas tree and had just stepped on the small ladder to move onto higher parts of the large tree. Hanging the delicate, expensive ornaments and glass, glitter-covered balls. Throwing silver strings and ivory-coloured, pearl chains over the green branches. Jason had been watching her changes in emotions take place and listened to her out of tune singing with a tranquil peace. Staring at her working on their tree in the outfit he loved. It was the same shirt and skirt she had worn during their week in the house in the city. It brought back memories for him and made him feel happy all over.

In his moment of happiness a subconscious smile formed on his face and his body started moving towards Jenny on its own. He had been tasked with setting up the reindeer lights outside. He had just finished and with his coat still on and his hands still cold from the outside air, he placed an arm around the unsuspecting Jenny's waist. Instantly feeling her body warmth creeping into his reddened hands and hearing her startled shriek as he lifted her off the ladder with a single arm movement. The sound reached him in a muffled tone, his mind only focused on one thing, grabbing onto this warm, little, winter bunny.

With her feet still floating above the floor and hanging in Jason's arm, Jenny was spun around slowly to face Jason. As she was gently lowered to the floor her hands moved towards Jason's face. His eyes were gazing down upon hers and her hands touched his cold cheeks. As she warmed them up with her hands, she asked him obvious questions such as, "Did you finish setting up the reindeers?" "Was it cold outside?" Jason's eyes didn't look away from the spot in her eyes that they were focused on as he answered her questions with one sound answers. Their bodies glued together until Susan called out to Jenny from the other room, where she was working on decorating the table where they would eat the first Christmas dinner of this three day festivity. Jenny pushed Jason away and cleared her throat, whereas Jason shrugged his shoulders and pulled Jenny into a back hug. With his chin leaning down on the top of her head Jason continued to stick close to Jenny. Stealing her body warmth as he nonchalantly greeted his mother.

Seeing their reactions, Susan chuckled and felt a bit sorry for her daughter-in-law, who after such a long time could still be so easily teased by her son. Trying to help her out she scolded Jason. "Stop pestering my daughter-in-law and make yourself useful instead." Jason, who had no intention of leaving Jenny's side, answered, "I am not pestering. I am helping. She had gotten too warm after being worked so hard by you, so I provided her with a bit of coolness. Now that we have both reached a suitable body temperature I will put my length to good use as I help her decorate the remaining part of the tree. This is clearly a two-man job." Susan chuckled again and she said, "There is no reasoning with you. Do as you please you wife-doting goofball. But if I hear you bullying her, I will be back and there will be trouble you hear?" Jason saluted her and said, "Aye, aye, ma'am." As she shook her head she left the two silly love birds to it.
