A trip down memory lane...

After the calm had returned after the stolen kiss, Jenny and Jason were both enjoying breakfast as they discussed what was in the books for this day. "Are we going back to your mom's place today? Or do we have to visit other relatives of yours?" Jenny nodded as she finished swallowing her bite. "Yeah, we are going to visit two of my older aunts today. Usually you visit the elders of your family during the first day but that just didn't seem very feasible for yesterday. Since you don't know when exactly the festival is going to be until the night before. With all of you needing to take time off from work for this and me needing to take time off from classes, I didn't think it was right to come here before the actual day. So, I told them in advance that we would be visiting on the second day. Already anticipating on us arriving later on in the day."

Jason had taken time out for this celebration and for exactly these visits, so he didn't mind at all. The last two years he hadn't been able to take much time off from everything and had only arrived for the celebrations late in the day and he would leave early in the morning. Meaning he didn't really have time to visit anyone other than Mary. So, this year, when he had taken plenty of time off for the occasion and he was determined to do things right. "I see. I am assuming you rented a car? Or are we going on the touristic route offered by public transportation?" Jenny widened her eyes as she inhaled deeply, showing just how horrid she found that idea on her face. "Oh dear lord no. Charlie might be an angel but even a saintly baby wouldn't be able to go on such a long journey and go through so many transfers without creating a fuss. A trip that far is exhausting enough as is. I don't want to be halfway and have our little mini prince thinking he has had enough and make what remains of the trip a nightmare for both us and the other passengers. So, we are definitely going by car."

With a hidden grin and a sarcastic voice Jason replied, "Taw and here I thought we could go on a trip down memory lane." Referring to their late night trip back by train during their summer in the Netherlands before Charlie's birth. Before the idea of Charlie even existed. But though she noticed his tone, Jenny decided to reply regardless of whether he meant those words or not. "Oh don't worry. It is still fresh in my memory. Young people like us don't need a trip down memory lane. That memory took place practically yesterday. So, no need to relive it just yet and certainly not while risking a cranky baby on a two hour trip with many other people to inconvenience along the way." Jason chuckled at Jenny's words before getting up to grab a wet wipe to clean up said prince's hands and face as he had informed them he was done eating.

After all three of them had finished eating and Charlie had been dressed in an adorable giraffe themed outfit for the day with a matching sunhat to protect his still delicate skin from getting burned, they headed out. With their first stop being the room down the hall where Susan and Stephen had spent the night. Since they were leaving for England later this day, they wanted to say their goodbyes in advance in case they wouldn't be back in time to see them off and let them spend a little time with Charlie before they would head to Jenny's first aunt. After a soft knock, the door was opened by Susan who almost immediately grabbed Charlie from Jason's arms. "Oh my gosh how cute can you get!!?" She asked in an excited voice. She carried him inside and Jenny and Jason followed right behind her as they exchanged an amused look with each other over Susan's reaction. Jason shaking his head with a smile on his face and Jenny laughing softly with a bright smile on hers.

As Charlie was playing with the 3D hanging legs of the giraffe from his shirt, while quietly sitting on Susan's lap, the grownups chatted amongst themselves. Exchanging some words about the time of their flight back and how they would spending their day. Susan revealing that there was quite a bit of sightseeing she hadn't been able to do during the last short visits she had had. With Stephen being a willing passenger on Susan's planned tour. The 'tour' was filled to the brim with all that they had to see and do, while being fully aware that there was no way that they would be able to do all those activities in the hours remaining till their flight as they had gotten up way too late.

After just thirty minutes, Jenny and Jason said their goodbyes and Charlie was peppered with kisses by his paternal grandmother. They headed to the reception and received the keys to their rented car before they started their journey down south. With Jenny having to sit in the back with Charlie, not feeling comfortable with leaving him on the back seat on his own, Jason had felt quite lonely all by himself in the 'front row'. So, after arriving at destination number two in a little under an hour, Jason was glad to be sitting beside Jenny again in her aunt's house where they had been received as welcome as he had remembered from their previous visit a few years ago. Convinced that his time here would be spent being just as well fed and properly entertained as he had been back then.
