A silent goodbye

In the next few days Jenny's mind appeared preoccupied, but no matter who asked, Jenny would insist there was nothing wrong and that she was simply a bit stressed about the exams that were coming up. Considering how much time was left, this reason was plausible and caused most of them to stop asking further questions. The only one that couldn't shake the bad feeling he had was Jason himself. He could tell something was off. He didn't know if it came from the guilt he felt for hiding his company from her or for having to start work earlier than planned or that she was behaving differently because of either of those things, or maybe it was something completely different. The only thing he knew was that Jenny was behaving suspiciously. But he couldn't put his finger on what it was that made him feel this way. Maybe it was the sum of things. Such as Jenny suddenly getting a password on her phone. Something she didn't have up till this point. She claimed that it was from when she was planning his surprise and didn't want him finding out what she had planned by looking into her phone. Saying she hadn't had the chance to take it back off and didn't consider it a priority at the moment.

That alone wouldn't have been too suspicious. But combined with her being a bit more quiet even not speaking much with Jason, answering in two word replies, had Jason convinced something was going on. Yet even though she was being less expressive verbally, she was being more clingy and affectionate than ever. Making it seem like nothing was wrong from the outside. But all Jason could see was her behaving different than usual, which to him was a reason for concern. However, when nothing happened or was spoken out in two weeks, his guard started to lower as well. Telling himself that it must be a figment of his imagination. A product of him being overly worried as he was busy with the company and didn't have much time to spend with her. Making him watch out for any sign that something was off so that he could take action before matters had a chance to become problems. Sadly the problem that he was about to face was one he couldn't have predicted and he probably couldn't have prevented it either.

It was an evening like any other, when Jenny made a big decision. One she had been contemplating and planning for during the past two weeks. She was going back and forth in her mind, causing her to be silent and deep in thought whenever she had a moment to think about it. Even when she didn't have the time to be thinking about it, the thoughts entered her mind effortlessly. Trying to hide from them, she held onto Jason closely. Trying to mentally prepare herself for what was to come if she went through with it, Jenny took every opportunity to get feelings across to Jason. Doing all the things she was normally too embarrassed to do. Creating as many memories as possible to get her through the rough times they were about to face. Tonight was the night she would start the journey towards those rough times. It was do or die. So, when Jason fell asleep she slowly got out of the bed. Of course Jason became a bit restless when he felt her slip away, but she walked around over to his side of the bed and whispered "I am just going to the bathroom. Go back to sleep." After that she placed a gentle kiss on his lips, before she walked away quietly and Jason relaxed again. Falling back into his slumber.

Just for this night, Jenny had gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom everyday for the past two weeks. She could tell that Jason was somewhat suspicious or wary towards her. No matter how much she insisted that she was fine. So, she needed him to not be alerted when she stepped out of the bed, if she wanted her plan to be successful. At the beginning he would turn on the lights, the moment she attempted to get out. Slowly, that turned into him staying awake till she returned and for the past few nights he would fall back asleep after she had reassured him of what she was going to do. The same way she had done tonight. When she was convinced he had fallen back asleep, she walked over to his side of the bed once more and placed a note before heading to the other room. There she got dressed, grabbed the bag she had prepared out of the closet and walked out. Closing the door as softly as possible. Using the shield of the night, Jenny sneaked down the stairs and out of the front door without being seen or heard by anyone. She made her way out to the front gate and got onto the car parked out front. Leaving with a silent goodbye.

By the time Jason became aware that an awfully long time had passed since Jenny had gone to the bathroom and had yet to return, he started patting around the bed. Not feeling Jenny beside him, he shot awake and started looking around the room. The bad feeling he had before rushed back and he jumped out of the bed. Disregarding that he had been wearing just shorts and that it was still quite chilly, he ran into the hallway and searched for Jenny frantically. Calling out her name, but getting no response. Making the uneasiness he felt grow with each passing second.

Here we are with chapter number 1. I know it might not be what you wanted to happen here, but back when I started this story, this was a part of it and I wanted to stick to it. But as I said before, after rain comes sunshine! I hope you will all stay with me as we move along the story :)

My thanks goes out to Humaira_Jarjisa for her support in the comment section!
