A past like that

The weekend had arrived and Jenny and Jason planned to have a date night. After this weekend Jenny would be busy preparing for the sport festival. So, they wanted to spend some time alone before things would start getting hectic. They had a whole day planned out. They would walk around the mall first to pick a gift for Elizabeth's engagement party which was planned for the end of the month and do a little window shopping for themselves. After that they had a dinner planned and they would go to a movie afterwards. Other than that Jason planned to look for a gift for his grandfather's birthday, which was coming up, as well as Jenny's birthday. Though her birthday was still a few months away, he had to start his preparations on time if he wanted her to have an amazing birthday.

Jason was standing by the door, waiting for Jenny to get ready. He was just about to glance at his watch when Jenny walked down in a white summer dress and light denim jacket. She looked stunning yet effortless with her soft bun. Jason smiled as he watched her descend the stairs. "You look beautiful". "Thank you. Was I worth the wait?" Jenny asked in a flirting way. "You always are." Jason replied with his soft smile unchanged. Jenny chuckled at his instant reply. She was amazed at how he could sound like a player and genuine at the same time. Almost like he was programmed to say certain things to certain questions, like a script. Jenny took his extended hand and they walked to the car waiting out front.

While they were in the car, they started talking about their plans. "It's crazy to think Liz is getting engaged by the end of this month. To think that playboy Nick had this in him. Such an unlikely couple, but somehow they match so well." Jason chuckled. "You underestimate Nick. He is a good guy. He just never met the girl he was willing to settle down with. If I didn't care about actually liking the girl I was with, I could have ended up the same as him. When people practically throw themselves at you and don't value themselves enough to demand a real connection before getting intimate, it becomes really hard to treat them as more than they treat themselves. Girls need to like the guy they sleep with, most guys don't." "Yeah, sadly that is true. I guess I should be happy you were so unapproachable and thank Lizzy for chasing away the few that still felt brave enough." Jenny said with a chuckle.

"I don't think I could deal with a past like that as well as Elizabeth has done. Most girls probably couldn't handle being with a reformed player. So, I guess she is the right girl for him as well." "She definitely is otherwise he would never have proposed to her. That is a very big deal to him. He always said that he would get married only once in his life. He would marry his perfect match or never at all. Seeing the philandering ways of his father made him think that a perfect match probably didn't exist. So, he wrote marriage off as something that was probably never going to happen for him. And I think if you asked anyone who knew me before we met, they would think we are an unlikely match as well. Never would they think I would end up with a girl like you. A girl from a small town with 'no background' or wealth. But now when they see us together, they can't imagine me with anyone else and neither can I." Jason said as he looked at Jenny and kissed the back of her hand.

"Thanks Jace. I must say our parents have done really well on this one. Who knew that the guy I was supposed to marry would be some rich guy from another country." Jenny said with a chuckle. "And wow, I never imagined Nick to take marriage that seriously. I guess I have to adjust the impression I have of him. He has made a horrible first impression on me, but I am glad to see that he isn't a horrible person. The way he has been treating Lizzy, sticking by her, making her feel secure and loved, showed me that he was a better guy than I had initially thought, but hearing how serious he is about all of this has really made him earn my respect. I hope they go the distance. We both know Elizabeth isn't the easiest girl, but he has managed to find his way with her and I really like them together now. Which brings us to the first activity of today. Finding them the perfect gift. I thought for sure that Lizzy would have a registry. How will we find a suitable gift?"

"Don't worry about it. I have known both of them long enough to know where they usually shop and just to be safe I had someone do some research on them these past couple of weeks. I figured that they would be looking around to pick stuff for their house together. Elizabeth likes to start these things early as she has a very specific taste and will want to pick everything out herself. What doesn't exist will be have to be custom made. By looking at what they have bought recently or looked at, we can get a grasp of what they are aiming for." Jenny was really impressed. "Really?! Already? It's still ten months away. Elizabeth sure likes to be well prepared..." Jason chuckled at Jenny's reaction before he continued, "But that is not all, because just as you wanted you are going to get the chance to meet the rest of my family. My grandfather's birthday is in six weeks. Everyone will be there and this will be a big event as well as your first time meeting him. He isn't too happy with my parents for not choosing a girl from our circles, so we have to make a good impression on him." While Jason continued to list the other events that were coming up, Jenny was still stuck on on the thought of meeting the Westwood side of the family.

Here we are with another chapter. Multiple events are fast approaching. How will our couples deal with them?
