A little prank

The party was carrying on smoothly, with everyone enjoying themselves to the fullest. Even Jenny, who wasn't really looking forward to tonight, was having fun with the different friends and acquaintances of Jason, her in-laws and herself. The only thing that was left for her to do, was to get even with Jason for his cheating. With little James on her lap and Anne sitting next to her chatting away, Jenny was busy thinking of what she could do. She told him in the beginning of their relationship that she always paid her debts in threefold and that was true to this day. Loved one or not.

As she was holding James's hands in her own, enjoying the soft feel of his chubby hands, an idea suddenly popped into her mind. With a dark grin on her face, she lowered her face to the little boy's face. "James, dear, would you like to help me with something?" James turned his face to the side and from the look on her face he could tell that she was up to no good but there was almost nothing he wouldn't do for her. He knew that Jenny was a good person, so no matter what she would ask of him, it couldn't be anything too bad. Plus, he was happy that she was asking him for help. So, the moment that question was asked, he nodded his head vigorously. Any faster or harder and Jenny was sure that his head would fall off. She chuckled and filled him in on what she wanted to do. "You see I want to pull a little prank on brother Jason but I can't do it by myself." In his ears she whispered what she wanted him to do and when she made an 'Ok' gesture with her hand to ask him if he understood the plan, he nodded once more with a determined face. After that he got off her lap and disappeared into the crowded room and she got up as well to mingle and prepare for her plan.

After a couple of minutes she went to look for Jason and found him in the hall near the kitchen. It appeared he had just finished talking to George, who was called by Sophia to assist her with Henry. She walked up to him and greeted him with a friendly smile. One that was returned as he pulled her towards him. With his hands on her lower back and hers against his chest, Jenny started talking to him. A conversation he didn't know was a subtle distraction. A diversion for James to do his part without Jason noticing him at work. Though Jason didn't understand her suddenly wanting to be close to him when she had spent most of the evening with other guests, he told himself that it was probably because she had missed him and considered her job as one of the hosts to be over now that people were slowly leaving.

The party was about to finish and a few of the guests had already left. So, Jenny was counting on Jason remaining where he was for the last thirty minutes of the party. Her sticking close to him was step one and was sure to keep him in his position for now. However, in order for things to not become suspicious, she needed other to join in keeping him occupied. With the two of them standing in the hall, the second distraction came soon after she joined Jason in the form of their friends. They came to join Jenny and Jason in order to hang out with them for a bit before calling it a night and going home. With the help of her unsuspecting friends, she managed to keep Jason there till most the people had left. The only ones remaining were the four people who lived here, the staff who had started cleaning up and their own friends who were also preparing to leave when they heard the clock in the living room chime twelve times. Telling them it was getting late.

After waving the final remaining people goodbye, it was time for Jenny to put her plan into action. She held onto Jason waist and looked up at his face sweetly. "Jace, I feel like getting rid of this excess energy before we go to bed. Want to help me get rid of it?" Jason's eyes grew wide as he was thinking if Jenny was actually asking him to do what he thought she was asking. They had been intimate plenty of times by now but Jenny had yet to make the first move. Thinking that the day might have arrived, he became all excited. Not knowing that this was exactly where Jenny wanted him, blinded by his second brain, he got ready to chase after Jenny who had ran away playfully after asking her double layered question.

But the moment he took his first step, he lost his balance and fell forward to his knees. Finally revealing why Jenny had been stuck so close to him during the last part of the evening. While Jenny had kept Jason distracted, little James had tied his shoelaces together, causing him to fall. It was a classic prank but it was classic for a reason. It had done the job perfectly, giving Jenny enough time to stick out her tongue and laugh at his fall before running up the stairs to beat him to their room, like Jason had done earlier that day. Susan and Stephen who turned around when they heard the thumping sound created by Jason's fall, looked to see what had happened. They first had a look of surprise on their faces, before they started to laugh as well when they found Jason on the floor with his shoes bound together and saw Jenny running to safety and the finish line. With that their Christmas party and Jenny's payback had both been a success.

Here we are with today's chapter, which contains the ending of the Christmas party. I hope you enjoy and I will be back here tomorrow with the next chapter :D
