A little chat

When Jenny came home later that day and saw the empty living room, she headed upstairs in search of her husband and son. Both of whom she had dearly missed today and had been worried about every moment her day allowed her. When she reached the second floor and entered her and Jason's room, she found both father and son still hard at work. They were in the office and neither of them had noticed her opening the door or entering the room. Proving how focussed they were at the task at hand. Jason's being office matters and Charlie's task apparently being stress testing Jason's loosened tie as he was pulling and playing with it energetically. From a hidden corner she continued to observe them for a moment.

Seeing how well father and son were getting along, her hesitation from that morning seemed to disappear. Jason looking more handsome than ever when he was being hard at work, while taking care of their son, didn't hurt matters either. There was just something endearing and captivating about seeing someone as dangerous and intimidating like Jason, who possessed a certain devilish charm, together with someone as adorable and dripping of innocence like Charlie. It gave an image so perfect that it should be captured and framed. The former being something Jenny attempted to do as she quietly snuck closer to the glass door in order to take a picture of her two favourite men with her phone. However, how stealthily she had approached the door, that was how clumsily she handled the actual picture taking. Having forgotten both her sound and her flash, she immediately announced her arrival the moment she took the picture. Making the attention of both Westwood men be taken away from their earlier cause of focus and turn towards her instead.

Jenny was glad that the door to the office had been open, because the otherwise the bright light from the flash being reflected in the glass, would have caused her picture to be ruined. While she was happy that her clumsy action hadn't caused her to loose the opportunity to capture the image of this father and son day of working from home, the objects of her digital portrait were equally happy for a different reason. Both flashing her their brightest smiles as they welcomed her. As Jason carried his son over to Jenny's side he chuckled as he said, "Sneaking around really isn't your forte, is it?" When he was standing by her side, he handed over Charlie, who had been impatiently trying to cross over to her arms. Reaching out his chubby arms towards her with all his might. Once Charlie had showed his mother how glad he was that she was back, Jason did the same as he said "Welcome home honey." Each of her men ending their welcome with a hug and a kiss. One landing on her cheek, while the other used his 'rightful' place on her lips.

While Charlie held onto Jenny as if he planned to never let go, she asked his father about their day. To which he answered, "Today was fine. After we had a little chat about how he expresses his love and how he handles missing someone, we got through the day smoothly and without any hiccups. I was actually able to get as much done as I would have at the office. Proving that this little guy is less distracting than all those phone calls and needless interruptions at the office." Jenny chuckled as she sat down on the sofa, ready to feed Charlie while she and Jason would spend some time talking with each other. "A chat?" She asked with an amused voice. "Couldn't even show mercy towards your own son, hmm? How did you manage to have a chat with a child of not even six months? You had better not have bullied my precious son while I was away."

Jason shrugged as he responded, "You were talking to him before he was even born. So, why shouldn't I be able to have a chat with him after he has been able to watch and learn from us for this many months." Jenny couldn't help but chuckle again as she tried to imagine Jason having a heart to heart with their infant son. Looking all serious as he tried to teach him the ways of life, while Charlie was staring at him with a blank expression and drool dripping from his mouth. But nonetheless listening to the rest of Jason's explanation with undiminished attention and interest. "Besides, I didn't bully him. I just set him straight and told him that his current behaviour was unacceptable and wouldn't bring him the result he wanted. That has nothing to do with mercy or with him being my son. Nor should it be something that is age-dependent. You can laugh all you want but if he is old enough to understand what I am saying, then he is ready to learn from my words as well. Whether that is at almost five months or at two years."

Jenny let out some remaining snickers as she said, "Sorry. I didn't mean to laugh at you but the image of you having a serious chat with Charlie is quite comical. You have to admit that." With a voice as calm as she could muster up she asked, "So, tell me. How did our son respond to your lecture?" before bursting out laughing again. That caused Jason to become fully annoyed and he silenced Jenny in a way that was a 100% effective and caught her completely by surprise as he performed a sneak attack. Suddenly grabbing the side of her face, before kissing her under his son's watchful eye.
