A helping hand

The next day Jenny and Jason were both looking exhausted. The break was over and school had started again. Meaning they had to wake up early and considering what time they had gone to bed tomorrow, it was no surprise that they were sleep deprived. In silence they sat at the table and under the curious stares of Susan and Stephen they tried to eat their breakfast. Susan and Stephen had left the party around one o'clock. So, they hadn't gone to bed particularly early either, but they were more used to that kind of life. Of late parties and early mornings. So, a night like that didn't affect them as much, but Jenny and Jason weren't the same. Plus, they had gone to bed much later. Even seeing the numbers of the clock turn to three o'clock when they headed into the bathroom to prepare for bed, meaning they had gone to sleep even later.

After forcing themselves to eat a few bites, the two of them got up and left for school. In the car it didn't take them long to fall asleep again. Jenny was leaning against Jason's shoulder, while she had her arm wrapped around his. Jason in turn had his arm resting on Jenny's lap as he was holding up his head with other arm that was placed against the car window. They slept through the entire car ride and were woken by the driver when they arrived at the school. Reluctantly they rubbed the sleep out their eyes and stepped out, where they were greeted by a cold breeze forcing them right awake. Jenny hurried up the steps and went inside, followed shortly after by Jason. Together they headed towards their classroom. Ever since Max had stopped coming to school, eventually dropping out of Mountforth high, Jenny hadn't been able to find a replacement for him. So, Jason had temporarily filled in his position. Since then he had come to school early with her every day and had helped her out whenever he could, but after so many weeks it appeared that the temporary part had fallen off and he had accepted his role of her co-class representative with stride.

But where the first half of the school year was very busy, the second half appeared more laid back. So, she didn't have much to do, but it was good to have someone there to help her when she needed it. Other than having a helping hand, it gave her some time alone with Jason. Some time where they had the chance to interact with each other in a different way than at home, an environment where they could find out if they could work together when it came to these kind of things as well. And so far that has been going great. They learned to read each other's needs in no time and it had now reached a point where Jason would hand her what she needed before she had even asked him for it. Making it all move along much smoother and taking them less time to get the job done with each passing week.

Even today, when they were both lacking sleep, they managed to get everything done in under fifteen minutes. Using the rest of the time before class to catch another few minutes of much needed sleep. Not bothering to go to the the hallway, where there friends were chatting before the first bell and wondering where the two of them could be. After sending them a few messages and even trying to call them, they gave up and decided to ask them about where they had been during lunch. That was until Elizabeth walked towards her classroom with Nick and saw the two of them in the class representatives room, leaning against each other with their backs facing the small window. When she pulled Nick's sleeve and pointed him in their direction, they both started wondering what they were doing in there when class was about to start.

The answer to that question came when the bell rang and both Jenny and Jason were startled awake. Jenny shot up in her seat, which caused her to headbutt Jason, who started rubbing his chin while trying to grasp his surroundings. Nick and Elizabeth, who were watching this scene from outside the room were amazed that Jason had actually managed to fall asleep at school. Though he would sometimes close his eyes when he laid down on the roof during the summer, but they had never seen him actually sleep in school. Even during the time where he would skip most of his lessons and would have plenty time to do so.

When Jenny and Jason turned around they were faced with two clearly surprised faces. Causing them to start laughing simultaneously. Where the bell had been a rude awakening, this was a good start of another day of learning. Though in Jason's case, it was more of a getting through the mandatory number of attendance hours as he was on a different level in terms of intelligence compared to the other students at Mountforth high. If it wasn't for him skipping as much as he had done, he could have attended university a long time ago. So, while he was sitting in the classroom, he wasn't actually paying attention to what the teacher was saying. Something which had been accepted by teachers and students alike, including Jenny herself.

Here we are with today's chapter. Though I am slightly late, I hope you will all still enjoy. I wasn't able to focus very well today, so it made me a lot less productive than I had hoped I would be XD.

I wish you all a good night for now and I will be back here tomorrow with a double release!

My thanks goes out to Humaira_Jarjisa and her support in the comment section. As always it is much appreciated.
