A girl named Jenny

Now that they had come up with a plan, it was time to figure out a suitable candidate. So far each name they thought of was rejected. Not only did they want a girl who would be their son's match and could stand up to his stubborn ways, but also someone who could restore his trust in his family and the people around him, someone who could show him love again. The girls from the wealthy families were all raised to be perfect ladies. They would either be too meek and shy to stand a chance or were blinded by money making them materialistic and selfish. Not someone he could fall back on during difficult times. Where could they find such a girl!

After racking their brains to think of the perfect daughter-in-law, it was time for Stephen to go to his next business meeting. Susan was left alone with her thoughts once more. She decided it was best to go for a walk and find a place to have some lunch. She figured she had to restore the fuel to her brain for it to work properly. As she was walking around in the beautiful city of Amsterdam she saw a little lunchroom with all the charm this city could offer. As she entered she saw the place was filled with a group of elderly people and wondered whether the place had been reserved. While she was looking around a friendly young woman, around her son's age, looked at her and smiled.

The young woman approached her and greeted Susan in a welcoming manner. "Hallo, Nederlands of Engels?". Oh she was asking her which language she speaks instead of automatically answering her in Dutch as many people along the way had done. Very unexpected. "English please", she answered politely as she reciprocated her smile. "It is a little crowded as we have taken the people from the elderly home on an outing, but feel free to join as if the crowd does not bother you. The food here is delicious! And if you are looking for some company, many of the people present would love to have someone to talk to. Especially some of our British veterans who do not speak Dutch." What a lovely idea, she could enjoy a fine lunch and honor one of her own veterans. This would be a perfect way to occupy her mind with something other than the problems with her son and would keep her from having a lonely lunch by herself. "I would love that!"

Before Susan knew it she was seated at a table with two elderly gentleman and an elderly woman, enjoying a freshly prepared lunch and a fascinating conversation. Every now and then she would steel glances of the young girl who seated her here and welcomed her. She was busy getting everyone's order and helping those who cannot eat by themselves to enjoy their food. All the while making jokes and making sure everyone is enjoying their day out. She could not help being interested in this young lady and decided to ask her lunch companions a few questions about her.

The more she learned about the young woman, the more she started to like her. As soon as she was done with lunch she she sent her husband a message. "I found our her! It is a girl named Jenny". She never expected to find the girl they were looking for outside of their social circle, let alone outside of their country! All that was left was to convince her and perform a background check, but she expected that neither would be a problem. Who wouldn't want to become a part of a family as wealthy and prestigious as theirs.
