A day of tradition

The days were peaceful and moving along like any other. Like this, a day of tradition came around once more. Though Charlie was now perfectly able to tell people what he wanted, making for more suitable gifts during his birthday, they still went to the orphanage each year after Charlie's birthday to give presents to the children in the home. Since there weren't much birthday presents of Charlie that they could re-gift, their little family would reserve an additional day for gift buying aside from the day they needed to visit the orphanage. During that day all of them would go out to pick the gifts themselves and today even little Amira was brought along for the shopping in order to get accustomed to their family tradition. Before today they felt she was too young to be outside with them all day. But now she was already four years old and was old enough to participate in all the events of this weekend instead of just the visit to the orphanage.

As they were walking through the shopping district, little Amira was sitting quietly in Jason's arms, being carried around like the little princess she was born to be. She greatly resembled Charlie in her quiet disposition. Only speaking when she needed to or felt like it. With her inheriting her looks mostly from Jenny, being basically a miniature clone of her, and her lack of words and movements, Amira was looking just like a beautiful porcelain doll. This effect was strengthened by her wearing one of the many dresses that Jason had bought her. They were filled with frills, lace and whatever he thought would bring out her cuteness even more. It was also no surprise that the more she was growing to resemble Jenny, Jason had a harder time to say no to the little girl he loved doting on so much.

But Jason didn't mind having another lovable 'weakness' in his life. For Jason, he couldn't think of a more deserving child than Amira for his high level doting. With the arrival of this little girl, he finally got what he had wanted. A child that picked him first in a crowd of people and more importantly, chose him over Jenny. Though to Jenny it was clear that she did this because he always gave her her way, Jason didn't seem to care about her reasons. So, Jenny left him in his delusion. One thing was certain by now, no matter when or where, if you had found Jason, you had found Amira. Always peacefully being carried in his arms, wearing one adorable dress after the other. The only thing missing in making her a full fletched princess was her having royal blood running through her veins. Other than that this sweet girl had been given everything. Even a real life tiara had been bought for the little Westwood princess by her father.

While Jason seemed to take his lack of spending on her mother out on his defenceless daughter, who could not even protest yet, Jenny had her focus on something else with her tiny body double. Despite Amira being spoiled rotten by her father and having a loving and protective brother by her side during all the times she wasn't with her father, despite being short of nothing, she didn't behave like a spoiled child. For that she had her mother, who always made sure that she possessed a certain down-to-earthiness.

Jenny didn't want the material things in her life to get to her daughter's head. She had met too many entitled rich kids to want her own children to turn into one. With Charlie, Jason wasn't as excessive and Charlie didn't show much interest in material things to begin with, so it wasn't that hard. But with her little girl, the same couldn't be said. Though her reactions weren't very excessive, it was undeniable that she loved every bit of the spoiling and pampering she got. All she needed to do was point at something or look at it a bit too long and it was hers before she knew it. She had become quite crafty as well. Outsmarting and outplaying even the best of the best. Making not only Jason cater to her wishes and whims but even the other people in their lives. Including their friends and Jenny's poor brothers. The three of them stood no chance since they had all only had boys so far and lacked some necessary practice with dealing with a little girl, feeling the full force of her tactics unlike their friends who had some built up immunity from their own girls.

So, it took Jenny some more one on one time to balance out the time her daughter had spent with her father. Though she needed to invest a little, the results were certainly there and clear to see for all. Making it well worth it for Jenny, despite the additional price she had to pay to keep her daughter grounded. Where Jason had to be the bad guy for Charlie, she was forced to be the bad woman for Amira. As two spoiling parents won't benefit the child in the long run. So, although she was loved by both her children, though Amira didn't show such a clear preference for Jason as Charlie had done back in the day for her, she could also see that the preference was there. It took very little for Jason to steal Amira away from her and that did vex her from time to time. But she knew it was for the best and this would come to pass in time. So, all she could do was be the best mother she could be for her and wait it out, just like Jason had done with Charlie.
