A blind date (2)

Jenny was at a loss. On the one hand she knew Jason wouldn't be happy if she went on a date, regardless if it was for moral support or something else. But on the other hand, she had finally made a girl friend and she needed her right now. If she just sat there and didn't talk to anyone, it should be fine right? Just eating and sitting there, couldn't be considered a date nor cheating, right? Julia saw her hesitating and tried to pull her over by saying with prayer hands and puppy dog eyes "Please. I promise we will leave after just one hour and you won't have to talk to anyone. I will even pay for your food. Please, just this once. What could possibly go wrong. We won't tell anyone and it all the way across town. So there is no chance of us running into them. What do you say?" After so much pleading Jenny reluctantly gave in. She let out a deep sigh and responded "Fine, but it is going to be just this once!" "Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you. You won't regret it!" "Too late, I regret it already" Jenny said as she sighed once more. While lowering her head she said under her breath "I hope Jason doesn't find out"

The rest of Jenny's day was spent worrying about Jason finding out about what they were planning to do and about what she could do to stop this from happening. The solution lied in Harry's hands. She had to find a way to speak to Harry alone, but Jason was keeping Harry far away because of what happened this morning. Even during the ride home and during dinner Jenny was quite silent, making Jason wonder if something was wrong. When he asked her about it, she said "Nothing's wrong. Why would something be wrong, he he he." However the guilty look on her face made Jason believe she was keeping something from him and aroused his suspicions. Jenny noticed Jason's suspicions and retired to her room early that night. Stating she was feeling a bit tired. She spent the rest of the night there to prevent her from incriminating herself. The next morning they went to school like normal and the time of the group date was growing near. During class she couldn't get herself to pay attention as her mind was occupied with finding ways to contact Harry without Jason finding out. She had to talk to him before school would end. That was her only shot at stopping this from going through. Her chance came the moment Jason went to the bathroom before gym class started. Harry had just walked out of the changing room to head to the training grounds when Jenny approached him. She looked around to be sure no one was watching before saying "Harry, I need to talk to you." Harry was quite surprised by her odd behavior, but responded regardless "Sure...What's wrong?" Jenny whispered "Not now. Not here. I need to speak to you in private. Meet me behind the storage shed in half an hour." and walked away. The exchange lasted for a few seconds, allowing her to leave before Jason exited the bathroom and the other boys came out of the changing room. No witnesses, just the way she planned it.

Harry was curious to what Jenny could want from him in such secrecy, so he showed up as instructed and waited for her to arrive. Exactly thirty minutes of class time had passed, when Jenny too excused herself and arrived at the agreed meeting spot. She wasted no time to get to the point, because the longer the both of them were absent, the more suspicion it would create.

"Thanks for meeting me here. I will get straight to the point. I wanted to talk to you because of Julia. I understand that you two have had a conversation about what you guys are to one another and you weren't able to answer her. I wanted you to know that she plans to find the answer you can't give her in other men."

"What do you mean? What other men?"

"Come on Harry, you couldn't have been that naive right? Anyone can tell she is a beautiful and kind girl. She was set on you not because she couldn't get any other men, but because she was feeling guilty, she wanted to fix her misunderstanding with you and she was holding onto the unknown. Now she has experienced how it is to date you and she knows exactly what she will miss if this thing between you two ends. Do you think that what you showed her was great enough to make her wait for you forever? Let me answer that question for you, no it wasn't and no she won't. She has been hurt by your indecisiveness and has decided to join a blind date with a group of guys from another school later today."

"What?! A blind date. What is she thinking?!"

"I like you Harry. I think you are a nice person and I think that deep down you do know what you want. You are just afraid to admit it. Maybe because you don't want to hurt Julia if it doesn't work out, maybe to protect your own heart. Regardless of which reason you have, I wanted to give you a chance to stop this. It's fine if you don't have all the answers, but don't let your inability to make a decision make you lose something great. It will be too late to regret once she has found another. If you still don't know, try imagining her with another guy. You will find your answer in there. The decision is up to you. We will be leaving three o'clock sharp, you have until then."

Harry was silenced and couldn't do anything other than look at Jenny leave. He couldn't be bothered with gym class and stayed there thinking over Jenny's words and his time spent with Julia. He felt stuck. His heart was in turmoil. What was he supposed to do. While he was lost in these thoughts a sudden thought came to him. Did she say 'we'?...His eyes shot wide open. She said 'we'. What did she mean. Was she joining Julia on that blind date!? If Jason found out, he would kill him. He took out his phone and saw that it was already ten to three. He unlocked his screen to find he had multiple missed messages from George and Jason asking him where he was. Time was of the essence, so he shot up from where he was sitting and ran. He ran as fast as he could back to the school and called Jason as he was making his way through the crowd of students. Desperate to find him or the duo that was forcing him to run like this. These silly women were going to be the death of him!
