A birthday to remember

Jason had to move fast. Jenny could be down any minute now. It was already the fifth day of Jenny's visit and she would be leaving tomorrow at midnight. If wanted to get ready for his surprise, time was of the essence. Luckily he had already prepared for a surprise this evening, this was but a minor adjustment. You see, Jason figured if he was going to hide a piece of jewelry in the enormous chocolate Easter-egg he had prepared for the party trick, he might as well hide a wedding ring! This way he would always remember his engagement date as it would overlap with his birthday, Jason thought to himself with a smile. It would give them both a birthday to remember.

After his first proposal he had always kept his great grandmother's ring in his pocket. Somehow he couldn't leave the house without it. He wanted to always be prepared. For when the perfect moment would be there. But seeing that this week had been the most unpredictable week he has ever had, he might as well give it another go. If all went to nothing, he could say that he thought what she had said last night was a hint. For now it seemed Jenny had no idea it was his birthday today. This meant that he could not only stick to his original plan of convincing if need be, with some minor adjustments of course, and he had to continue preparing everything in secret. While Jenny was in the bathroom, Jason called the bakery to inform them of the adjustments and to set up a meet to give them the ring. Because they wanted to prevent the plan from getting discovered, they agreed that Jason would leave a key of the house under the mat in front of the door. He would invite Jenny out for a walk around five and the crew would come in to set everything up. The ring would be left in the far back of the right cupboard behind the cereal bowls. Now all he had to do was keep his cool and make sure he doesn't give anything away.

Not long after Jason had finished his phone call, Jenny came down. Awkwardly they exchanged their morning greetings. "Hi..." Jenny said, starting off their conversation. "Good morning..How did you sleep?" Jason replied, while admiring how Jenny's looked today. She was wearing a white cotton-wool long-sleeved shirt. It was slim-fitted and showed her curves. He was shocked every time he saw how "well developed" Jenny was in the chest area, but remembered not to linger. His eyes went down to her A-line plaid skirt which showed off her slim legs and finished it off with a pair of high cut black boots, making her legs seem longer. She looked just like a doll. Jenny ignored his stare and answered, "Surprisingly well after we had our talk. It was a load off my shoulders. How about you?" "Yeah, the same. I was really worried after I thought you were mad at me and to add to those worries was the deadline, that was creeping near. I knew I didn't have much time and this was my final shot at getting you to accept me, so there couldn't be a worse time for a fight. So, despite waking up early, I feel very rested after knowing that soon I will be able to spend every day with you like this. No more deadlines. No more, will she like me or will she leave me. I finally have a place in your heart." Jason said, revealing his devilishly charming smile.

"Shall we go and have breakfast? We seem to have skipped this meal in the past two days" Jason said with a chuckle. Jenny revealed a smile of her own and followed Jason to the dining room. Jason had laid out a beautiful spread of freshly cut fruits, assorted warm rolls and sandwiches. Jenny feasted her eyes before sitting down and digging in. Albeit a bit more self aware now that she had accepted Jason as a... a... as a whatever it is he was. Even though she knew he had already seen how she didn't hold back when she saw the things she liked, she wanted to show Jason a more graceful side of herself. That is why she dressed up a little and even wore high heal boots, despite them being inside. Now that her looks were taken care of, it was time for her behavior. She should be able to show some restraint in these two remaining days. While Jenny was worrying about looking good for Jason, Jason's mind was occupied with not giving himself away and counting down the time till his proposal. This time he was sure to succeed!

Another chapter finished, another exciting moment on its way. Will he be more successful this time around?
