"Friend"

The next day it was clear that whatever had been going on between Jenny and Jason had been resolved. Susan was pleasantly surprised to see the both of them enter the dining room laughing and playfully pushing each other from side to side and Stephen was glad to see that they had managed to work things out between them. At school their friends were equally relieved to see that they were walking in with Jason having his arm around Jenny's shoulder. They did not look forward to having to spend another day with so much tension. Neither did they like not having both of them there during the breaks, because did not want to be in the same space with each other due to their fight.

Jason greeted the group with a nod and Jenny waved at them. George asked, "Good to see you guys smiling together again." "Yeah, sorry for dragging you guys into that. We had a good talk last night and worked it out." "What was even going on between you guys? You were fine that morning and suddenly it was guns blazing." Jason chuckled and said, "Let's not talk about it. We have reached a compromise for now. So, if that guy knows his limits, we should be fine. With that being said, it's time for me to deliver Jenny to the lion's den." Jenny playfully elbowed Jason as she laughingly said, "Stop it. Let's go. I don't want to be late for class." "Right away milady." Jokingly they headed on to Jenny's class, leaving their friends with a look of bewilderment. "How are they able to pretend like nothing happened, when they couldn't stand each other yesterday. What 'compromise'. If you let us be a witness of the fight, at least let us know what it was about and what the solution became." Elizabeth chuckled and put her arm around George. "Let it go Georgie. Just be glad they made up." With that Elizabeth returned to Nick's side as he walked her to class.

Jason and Jenny were about to say their goodbyes when Nick and Elizabeth arrived. Jenny had turned around after waving Jason goodbye, when he pulled her back for a parting kiss. "Did we not do this enough last night and this morning." Jenny said shyly as Jason was holding her by the waist. "Never! A kiss at school a day, is a kiss at school a day. No reason for me to reject those, especially when you give me bashful reactions like that." He said with a chuckle. The flustered Jenny was saying her second goodbye to her teasing devil when Max showed up. Jason had of course done his background check on the person who was seated next to Jenny so he shot the guy a glare when they walked past each other, but he was somehow oblivious to who Jenny was to Jason. He simply brushed it off as Jason being in a bad mood and wondered why he had come from the direction of his class.

When Max walked into the classroom he saw that Jenny was already sitting at her seat and was talking to Elizabeth. She was clearly in a better mood than yesterday, so hopefully this mean that she would no longer ignore him. Anxiously he greeted her "Good morning" as he took his seat beside her. Bracing himself for a rejection he dared not look in her direction. That was until he heard a "Good morning" back. He turned himself sideways and saw that she was smiling at him brightly, clearing whatever doubt he may have. "You seem to be in a much better mood than yesterday. I almost thought you were mad at me by how much you were giving me the cold shoulder." He said jokingly, masking the truth the words were hiding. "Yeah, sorry about that. I was having some personal problems, but I was able to work them out."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Though Jenny planned on having a more distant relationship with Max this time around, he left no room for distance as he took every chance and opportunity to get close to her in one way or another. Having to sit next to each other for hours on end every day and having to work together during class and after class, made their bond grow significantly and in a very fast pace. He went out of his way to bring her snacks and books they had talked about and even managed to get her number in less than two weeks. Though their exchange of phone numbers was meant for school business, it didn't stop max from sending her funny memes and trying to start up conversations with her outside of school. Jenny had a hard time rejecting his kind gestures and so far had only managed to turn down invitations to physically hang out after school. Till he showed her that he had other intentions than friendship, Jenny felt she had no reason to say no to things like snacks and books. Much to Jason's annoyance. But he had made a deal with her, so he was going to honor it. He was sure that Max should have seen Jenny and him together by now and should know that she was taken. He would be a fool to try and get between them.
However, Max had a very different plan. In that short period of time he had gone from being convinced that Jenny was single, to thinking that she might have a boyfriend and finally asking around and discovering she was engaged to none other than Jason Westwood. The biggest big shot in the entire school. But despite knowing that, he couldn't help falling for Jenny. His mind was telling him that he was courting death by going after Mr. Westwood's fiance, but his heart kept telling him that he should be a constant presence in her life for the moment that said Mr. Westwood would mess up and make her fall into his arms. As long as she herself didn't reject her, he figured he stood a chance. In his mind Jenny's friendliness and joking demeanor was flirting. Jenny being unaware that her behavior was being interpreted in that way, continued to see him as her "friend". The only other person who seemed aware of his intentions was Elizabeth, who had been watching the two of them interact and could tell that the both of them were playing with fire...
