### Participating in Webnovel Spirity Awards Spring 2021 ### A cold, snowy night of the year 1821. A mad scientist's obsession to bring life to his deceased 26-year-old son bore fruit. But the resurrected creature had no memories and was dominated by wild instincts. The brawl ended with the son killing his father. The lifeform was forced to flee when screams and shouts rose following the mad scientist's agonising shriek. The unholy existence thus slipped into the darkness and was never heard since. The supreme deities watching over the worlds noticed the existence of this entity beyond anomalism. They witnessed this unnamed 'human' learning the ways of humanity from the shadows in a span of several centuries. Yet the heartless prankster Fate prevented him from blending in and hunted down this distinct organism after bestowing his life with a parade of misfortune. Gloom and misery overcame his undying heart and his seclusion from settlements resonated anguish. Chapter 67 - The Undefeatable 'War God'

Shuttling her eyes left and right, Delina confirmed her assumption. Her line of sight slowly lowered as she cluelessly pondered, staring at her shadow cast in front of her by the bright fire beam behind her.

Wait!

Just as she skimmed past her shadow, her sight noticed the brightness from behind fading at a quicker pace.

With knit brows, she turned around only to receive the scare for her life!

How?

HOW!?

Delina felt her limbs going weak and numb upon witnessing the armoured figure standing in the middle of the spell vortex. Visibly unscathed and fine, the plates exuded a royal aura that seems to have intimidated the raging fire.

With the backdrop of orange and red flames, Adam stood there unmoving, like a king. To add special effect, his cape was fluttering in accordance with the twerking blaze.

With the spear in one hand, Adam was nothing short of the incarnate of the god of war!

Seeing this, even Edgar's heart almost leapt out of his throat. The unsettling expression on Celestina's face was grave.

Oblivious to these bearing, Adam stood there with his eyes closed, behind the veil of headgear.

'So this was what Evolution meant by!'

[Glad we met this lady. Or else, we'll be experimenting with beast cores for till the end of time.]

The Evolution was on!

It was automatically triggered when the Mountain Melter blasted in on Adam's face.

At that instance, he had the urge to dodge and had the window to do so, but Endevil quickly alerted not to. The consciousness also added that this is the evolution that they were looking for.

'So... you have an idea how Evolution works?' Adam probed in curiosity. He was eager to hear the verbal description of this bespoke skill.

[Well... I'm not sure of it myself. Can you give me a few minutes to analyse and understand the nature of this ability?]

'Okay.'

Upon Adam's nod, Endevil went silent.

Savouring the warm sensation wrapping around his body, Adam felt delighted beyond compare. He could tell that something was happening, but nothing was on the interface when he summoned it.

'Let's not stand out.' The earthling slowly opened his eyes.

At once, his brows knit.

Why is she sitting on the floor akimbo? Is she sick?

Literally staring down at Delina's numb physique, Adam wondered why this lady looks excessively pale. The sweatdrops on her forehead were running down like a stream.

He could swear that he saw her figure walking away from him almost a minute ago.

'Maybe she could use a help.'

Without bothering to comprehend the reason behind her abnormal behaviour, Adam took steps forward in a relaxed manner.

"GAAA....!!!! HELP....!!!!! SOMEBODY HELP ME....!!!!!!"

On the other hand, Delina was scared shitless. She was barely conscious and her heart was barely pumping blood.

But after seeing the armour-wearing individual walking to her with a spear in one arm, she felt the death pacing towards her. The very silhouette of that scary-looking full-fledged armour with a lit background was nothing short of the worst nightmare.

RUN! RUN! RUN!

Her mind repeatedly roared at her body to run away, but her limbs were unmoving. After witnessing the approaching god of war, she screamed out loud. There was horror and apprehension evident in her last resort to stay alive.

But who was ready to jump in front of this spear-wielding grim reaper?

Noticing herself in a life-and-death situation, she mustered the courage to move her limbs. Without waiting for anybody, she began to crawl her way out of the arena.

"Hey, are you okay?"

The thunderous voice rang throughout the arena as Adam stood right beside her. His query was devoid of any hostility but the current setup of the scenario made him the worst person to make hatred with!

"AAAHHH.... DON'T KILL ME!!! AAAAAAHHHH...!!!!"

Her pitiful scream was the response. What left her mouth consumed the entire reserve of courage and energy she had mustered. Staring at the spear in his hand in terror, she cried as her dry throat conveyed.

Kill?

Did someone traumatise her?

Absolutely oblivious to what she was intending, Adam raised his spear and thrust it into the ground, casually.

Kdak~

The stone floor cracked and the fragments gave way to create a tiny hole in which the spear stood upright, steady. Then Adam slowly squatted in front of her, on one knee.

"Did someone scare you?"

From the earthling's perspective, it was a simple query. The answer was either yes or no.

But from the perspective of everyone else, they saw the berserker kneeling in front of his prey, only to intimidate the lifeless person with an eerie question, "Did someone scare you?".

The audience could only gulp down their saliva with an indescribable sensation. Was it the dread they sensed from the young man or the desire to watch the predator toying with the prey? They weren't sure. But they were pretty optimistic to see something different happen.

But, contrary to their expectations...

Thwack~

That was the threshold of Delina's consciousness and she immediately blacked out. Her upper torso struggling to have the support of the forelimbs plopped down, just like that.

"..." Adam was cluelessly shocked when he saw the lady's eyes rolling upward and her body slumping down. Staring at his unconscious opponent, he pushed all the miscellaneous thoughts to the back of his head.

Maybe those at the infirmary could help her.

Adam recollected the conclusion of his fight with Edgar. Celestina commanded the staffs to take him to the infirmary.

But...

'Why are they standing like a statue?'

Without turning his head, Adam could sense in every direction around him. The amplification quirk of the armour was extremely satisfying.

'Nevermind. If they aren't coming up, then I'll have to carry her to them. Problem solved.'

With that intention, Adam extended his hands towards the unconscious Delina. He was about to touch her skin when a familiar voice shouted.

"Stop...!!"

Surprised by the sudden echo, Adam turned his head and saw Edgar standing just beyond the arena. "Please spare her." His voice immediately softened and requested.

Adam's brows furrowed as he replied, "Spare?"

Unbeknownst to him, what Edgar and others witnessed was a bloodthirsty young man attempting to grab a young unconscious woman. Edgar's unrest grew ceaselessly and questioned his humanity.

Thus, he shot up and pleaded.

But the reply sent a chill up his spine.

Spare?

The questioning tone of Adam felt oppressive to the knight squad captain. What the earthling posed as a query was comprehended by the crowd as the dispelling words of a king.

The audience went bananas in their hearts.

Will the berserker go berserk here or someplace else? When will it be? Will she be alive to tell the tale?

The male and female among the crowd began to knit their fantasies and their demeanours reddened. While a couple of immature boys experienced nosebleed, the women were twitching in accordance with their fantasies.

Just as the crowd was building their script in their hearts, the berserker reached to his spear and gently tapped on it. At once, the weapon disappeared.

Ignorant of what others were going through, Adam took the lady into his arms. Supported by his enormous strength, Delina reclined like a toddler.

Without any delay, he turned to the steps and walked to it.

Kdak~ kdak~ kdak~

In the silence, the sound of Adam's metal boots stepping on the stone floor was evident.

Gulp!

While peacefully walking to the steps beyond which the squad with a stretcher was standing, the crowd and Edgar perceived Adam as a monstrous entity ready to feast on the unconscious lady.

But contrary to the crowd's expectations, the armoured berserker simply paced to the infirmary squad and placed Delina on the nearby bench.

"She seems sick." Standing back on his feet, Adam turned to stare at the white-robed statues. At once, their numb limbs and frozen brain realised something and immediately nodded before taking her to the infirmary.

Taking one last glimpse of Delina being taken to the clinic, Adam turned to the passage and disappeared towards the reception.

"..."

"Maybe we were wrong about him?"

"He didn't look like the monster I thought of."

Murmurs and discussions began to ooze into the air as soon as the earthling's silhouette disappeared from the vicinity of the arena. A major portion of the adventurers seems to be disappointed but there was a sense of content on their lips.

But the remaining were deeply interested to know the identity of the young man hiding behind the armour.

Edgar too was in a daze. He felt his entire thought process crumbling inward after witnessing the hospitable side of Adam. As a captain of one of the knight squad, he was ashamed of his impulsiveness and overthinking.

After recapping through the events just happened, he could only quickly follow Adam's trail and exit the arena. With brisk steps. left the scene.

Meanwhile, Endevil had broken its session of silence and started describing.
