14 Welcome Party

"Then, do you know whose soul it is?" Alex asked the young man who sighed and wore back his glasses.

"I don't," he replied and Alex was relieved.

"Then your ability isn't all that great," he told the man. "If there's nothing else, I'll like to take my leave, my friends are waiting for me." And with that, he left the office and went to rejoin the others who were waiting outside for him.

"What did he say to you?" Kelvin asked the moment he saw him walk out of the office.

"Nothing out of the ordinary," Alex replied. Kelvin and Raphael glanced at each other and decided to agree with him. "Where are we going next, Derek?" He asked Derek.

"It's Sir. Derek whenever we are in public," Derek said to him.

"Okay, where are we going next, sir Derek?" Alex corrected himself.

"Well—"

"Listen up, everyone!" A mechanical voice rang out, interrupting Derek who was about to talk. "There will be a welcome party for all the year one students in the next fifteen minutes. As regards that, all the year one students are required to gather themselves at the auditorium for the party. I repeat, all the first-year students are required to gather themselves at the auditorium for the welcome party!"

After the announcement was made, Derek chuckled and they turned to look at him curiously.

"What is funny?" Kelvin asked him.

"It's nothing, I just suddenly feel excited about the welcome party," Derek replied and covered his mouth as he continued to chuckle.

"Can you take us to the auditorium?" Alex asked him, ignoring the fact that his attitude was somewhat weird.

"Sure, sure. Follow me," Derek replied and began to lead them to the auditorium which was some meters away from where they were. When they got to the large building, they saw other students going inside. "That is the auditorium, go ahead," he said to Alex and Raphael who nodded and joined the other students in line.

"Derek, I don't feel good about this," Kelvin said to his friend after the boys had left. He didn't want to say it in their presence to not discourage them or make them scared.

"I don't feel good as well but don't worry, nothing's gonna happen to them," Derek replied to his friend and patted him on the shoulder. "Let us go, I need to introduce you to the other teachers," he said and dragged Kelvin out of that place.

Meanwhile, the boys finally went inside the auditorium. It was a large hall with no chairs or equipment inside; it was just empty and also dark, giving some students chills.

"Why is it so dark in here? I can barely see anyone," a student complained.

"Yeah, same here," another student replied.

Alex and Raphael stood aside from the other students. They weren't feeling relaxed, especially with how dark the hall was.

"We should be careful," Alex said to Raphael who nodded his head in agreement.

They waited for all the first years to arrive and when everyone was present, the entrance door was shut close.

The students got panicked and tried to open the door but to no avail, then, an announcement was made by the same mechanical voice.

"Now that everyone is present, the party will like to commence. The party will go on for one hour, do whatever you want to but you must try and survive! If you die during this time, it's your loss and not ours! Good luck, Nightfall Academy!" Just after the announcement ended, a red light shone in the hall, and standing on the stage were some students.

"Hi, everyone... You heard the announcement, do what you must to survive or else you die and that's the end of your story," one of the students said and in the next second, he was on the floor. He was standing close to one of the first-year students with a smile on his face, before the female first-year student could react, the boy drew out a sword from nowhere and drove it into her belle.

All the first-year students gasped at the scene in front of them, they watched as blood gushed out from the girl before she fell and died instantly.

"What are you all standing there doing? The party has just begun!" The boy screamed with a satisfying smile on his face. At his call, the other students who were with him jumped down to the floor and began to go after all the first years present in the hall. Anyone they caught will be dead in the next second.

What kind of party is this? Who would have thought that this was how the welcome party would look like? If they had known, no one would have shown up and unwillingly become a sacrificial lamb.

Alex stood shocked at the turnout of events, no one had anticipated that something like this would happen, likewise him. He watched as all his mates were dying right in front of him, none of the students were able to fight back or allowed to escape. It was like they were purposely sent here to die.

"Die!" He heard Raphael speak and he was pulled out of his thoughts. He turned around and saw one of the students falling and dying instantly. The student had wanted to attack him but luckily, Raphael had used his ability on him.

"Thank you," he said to Raphael who gave him a thumbs up.

Almost all the first-year students have been killed with only one dead from the other group. If nothing is been done, all of them may end up dying. Alex didn't want anything to happen to him or Raphael and as such, he had to do something to save their lives. One hour is almost gone but before then, let him enjoy the party if that is what they want.

'Arthur, borrow me your powers,' he said to the demon inside him.

'What for?' Arthur asked him.

'To kill,' Alex replied.

'To kill? Here you go!' Arthur replied in an excited tone.

Alex staggered forward with his eyes closed, when he reopened them, a red glow appeared in them and then vanished almost immediately as if it wasn't there before, then, a smile appeared on his face as he gazed at the other group of students who were killing the first years.

"Bro, let the party begin!" He said to Raphael who didn't understand the meaning behind his words until he saw him dash forward to the other group of students and killed the first one to get to him. Now that he was aware of what he meant, he nodded and rushed forward to join him.

Seeing how Alex killed two students from the other group with ease, the remaining ones stopped going after the other first-years and decided to focus on him. They surrounded him, placing him in the middle, they planned to attack him together but Alex wasn't bothered by their number or overall strength. Rather, he had this genuine smile of satisfaction on his face as he gazed at his bloodied hands.

'How do you feel now?' Arthur asked him because he was aware of all the emotions swirling inside of him.

"Good, this is fun," Alex muttered and sharpened his claws again. "Come on!" He said to the students who scoffed and rushed towards him at the same time.
