Chapter 4

Mairu was inside his dorm, sitting down on the couch, with Celine on another. The main room was quite big. It included a living room and a kitchen on the right. Mairu had fallen asleep inside his armor. Celine looked over curious as to how he looked under that layer of metal. She grew a malicious smile and silently floated towards the demon. 2 fingers away from the helmet. She was at halt when the head turned to her.

'What are you doing Celine?' Mairu asked. His head tilted to the side. Celine began to have sweat drops as she backed up.

"I saw a crumb on your armor! That's all! Nothing suspicious here!" She said nervously, having been caught doing something she shouldn't have done. Mairu nodded and began thinking again. Celine started to think again, something was off with this boy. There's no way this kid was a magma fairy. The wings don't match up. They look like a fire fairy's wing, but not quite.

'Is something the matter?' Mairu signed at her, concerned by her questioned look. He could sense something was off.

"Oh it's nothing! Just...confused that's all." She said trying to play it off as nothing. "Besides, it was just a random thought, nothing bad." She said without care.

'Do tell me. I'm your friend aren't I?' Mairu signed, smiling under his helmet. He wanted to know what was going on.

"I'm just confused. I just thought that maybe you weren't a Magma Fairy at all by the looks of your wings. Silly imagination." She shrugged and chuckled. Mairu stared down, not thinking for a bit. He didn't want her to know yet

'It's funny isn't it?' He passed it off as if they were joking. The two chuckled sheepishly. But the tension was big in the air. 'Oh, look at the time. I have to go, I have an appointment with the Headmaster.'

"Sounds fun. See ya." She waved as he walked out of the dorm. The second he was out, Celine sighed with relief and immediately got on her phone. She began to text her group of friends about their new friend.

"Huh I see. This could prove troublesome. Having your real identity revealed could mean discord among our students." Headmaster Mercury spoke, "You said you were a Magma Fairy to cover up your demon identity?" The boy nodded. "Hmm. That probably wasn't the best response. You see, Magma Fairies have long been eradicated from this world due to the lack of active volcanoes. Their wings were, well, made out of magma. Your wings resemble that of a fire fairy, but not enough to make them think that." He explained seriously. "The solution to this is when they request the truth, that you provide it." Mairu gasped for a moment. "I know I know, it's probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but you have to understand that sooner or later, the truth will be out. Whether it's tomorrow or even today."

The demon had his head down, trembling a bit. He wasn't ready for the truth to be out just yet. Mercury frowned looking at him. Even though he was a demon, he was different and felt certain things the way regular fairies and elves did. He was unique in his own way.

"How about this." The old man handed him a small crystal bead. The boy tilted his head. "When you tell the truth to someone and they respond negatively. Crush it and it will alert me through my crystal ball, I will come to your aid." Mairu began to tremble a bit more, but not because of the truth, but because he was crying again. Such an act of kindness was too much.

'Thank you sir..' Mairu signed, sobbing in his helmet. He held the small crystal bead and tucked it away in his glove. Hidden, but not enough to crush it. Mercury smiled warmly.

"You're welcome. I must let you go, I have important paperwork to do." Mairu nodded and bowed thankfully before leaving the office. Ready for anything.

At the same time..

"Why'd you bring us here again?" Kade asked, drinking his cola.

"It's about Mairu, something is off. I'm sure you noticed it, Sebastian." Celine looked over at the elf.

"Yes indeed. His identity made me ponder all day. You said he told you he was a Magma Fairy? Impossible." Sebastian crossed his arms.

"Eh.. Guys.. maybe you're overthinking this.." Ivory said nervously. "I'm sure he has a good reason."

"I agree with the Water girl. He ain't that bad, his mystery is what makes him quite interesting," Kade smirked. Ivory huffed a bit at the nickname, but shrugged it off.

"How about this. We ask him about it, and if he doesn't want to tell us, we drop it, and we never ask again until he's confident about it?" Ivory asked. All three others nodded in agreement. "I'm sure his reason for concealing this must be very important. I mean, it's your own identity, that's pretty sensitive information don't you think?"

"You make a fair point Ivory, but what if his identity is a malicious one? I mean, for all we know, he could be one of those monsters we've been pushing away from society." Sebastian added.

"Monster or not Sebastian, I can tell he's not malicious. If he wanted to hurt any of us, I'm pretty sure he would have already done it." Celine said resting her feet on the coffee table. "Besides, being friends with a Demon would be revolutionary don't you think? The first one to be pure. Proving that some are nice." They nodded in agreement.

"What do you think he's like in a relationship?" Kade asked, curious he was, he was the dating type all the way.

"Don't start with that again Kade, we talked about this, don't start wooing the new kid." Celine sighed.

"What? It was just a thought though.." He pouted. Ivory chuckled, Celine and Sebastian just shook their heads in disappointment.

The main door of the dorm began to open. The 4 students began to pay attention to it. Upon the door opening, the armored boy came. To his surprise, he glanced over at his new friends who were all in the same place. He waved greetingly

"Hey Mairu! How was that appointment?" Celine started.

'It was okay, nothing to be worried about.' He chuckled. The 4 friends looked at each other, wondering who was going to start it. Mairu tilted his head confused. 'Is something the matter?'

"Mairu would you sit down please, we all need to talk." Ivory started patting the big empty seat. Still confused, he nodded and sat down.

'What would you like to talk about?' He asked nervously. There was a bit of a silence.

"Who are you really?" Sebastian started, the tension in the air thickens...
