Chapter 2

A woman had entered the room, glancing over at the Headmaster and over to the armored demon which made her form a face of distraught.

"Oh! Hello Mrs. Thorn. What seems to be the issue?" Headmaster Mercury spoke in a calm and welcoming voice.

"This thing! This intruder inside our facility!" She pushed the armored boy to the ground to stand in front of the older fairy and protect him. "Don't worry sir! I got this-" She stopped as she heard the sounds of a quiet sob. Her glare looked over the entity, to her surprise, was completely innocent. The Grand Fairy floated over to the boy's aid to help him up.

"Mrs. Thorn. This fellow here is our newest student. His appearance at the moment may be troubling to one's eye. But I can reassure you, he is harmless." Mercury spoke. "Do not fret young one, it's okay. It was a mere understanding." The old man knew exactly what was going on within the boy, a trauma, a scar that will never heal just reopened from that act of violence. Mrs. Thorn was embarrassed to her core. She wondered how ignorant she could be.

"I apologize for my actions... uh.." She stopped not knowing the demon's name.

'My name is Mairu.' He signed. The woman was confused by this unknown understanding of a non-existing language. She looked over to the Grand Fairy, who couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction.

"Don't worry, you'll get used to this soon enough Mrs. Thorn." He spoke. "Oh Prince Mairu, This is Mrs. Thorn, she is the Vice Headmistress of this establishment, who likes to take her job way too seriously."

"Pardon me!? It is my responsibility to aid everyone in this establishment including you Headmaster Mercury! And.." She began to sniff the air around. "You activated a promise spell!? What for?!" She grew agitated, clearly she was very concerned.

"I can't say, unless I get an Exception Pass from this young man here." He spoke as he looked over at the boy with his hands up in denial. Mairu simply tilted his head confused by what that meant. "Oh my, you must be confused. If you, the one I made a promise too, decides that I may share what you've said with a specific person. I may do so without losing my hand but only to whom you indicate." Mrs. Thorn's stare pierced the boy, wanting to understand the meaning of all of this.

'You may tell her. But if you do. I'd like her to make the promise spell as well to be sure.' He signed. He was willing to let her know the truth, but was on edge that she'd spill the beans at some point.

"You heard him Mrs. Thorn. If you wish to know, you'll need to do as I did." She didn't want to, but her stubbornness got the better of her. She clenched her fist and lost to the temptation. She chanted the same words as the Grand Fairy did and waited for what is to be told. Headmaster Mercury looked over to Mairu, who nodded in approval. The old fairy began explaining the situation of the prince to the Vice Headmistress. She listened, to which she was flabbergasted. "And that's the whole story. How do you feel after hearing that?" The woman couldn't believe what she heard. This demon, being nice and kind? That's too good to be true.

"The prince of the Underworld. Who's heart is as pure as white you say?" She spoke, still a bit skeptic about this whole ordeal but knew that the Grand Fairy had good intentions for him. Mercury nodded. "You know sir you can be reckless with who you let in, but this boy, clearly is something else." She smiled and crossed her arms. "You're okay in my book kid" She grinned. Mairu couldn't believe how accepting she was. "Now Mairu, if anyone gives you a bad time, send them to me and they'll answer for it."

After a few minutes, Mairu's files were completed. The Prince of the Underworld was now a student of Majica high school. He departed the office of the Headmaster shortly after and walked over to the dormitories. He had received the keys to his dorm and intended to make the best of what he had. The way there was quite magnificent, flowers blossomed everywhere. The sky, cloudless to let the sun shine. He stopped and sat on a bench to admire his surroundings. Mairu began to take off his armor glove letting his red skinned hand feel the rays of the sun for the first time in ages. A feeling he will forever cherish in his heart. Back home, in the Underworld. There is no sky, nor sun or anything the surface world has. It was dark and full of flames. The screams of the lost souls were heard at every corner of the realm. It was truly hell. He placed his hand back in the hollow piece of his armor he had removed and resumed his stroll towards his dorm. Upon arriving there, all doors were double doors and could fit up to 3 students per dorm. Fortunately, No one was inside at the moment and appeared to be inhabited by 2 other students. At this time of day, all students were in class. Mairu walked into the empty room available for him and observed the dimensions, seeing many changes that will happen. He took off his armor gloves to begin working his magic, Summoning a portal to let his bed and other homey furniture appear. Most were created on the spot, but a few were from his storage. The bed was a queen, very big with soft sheets. He didn't need to bring it since demons don't really need to sleep like other species do. The closets and other cozy furniture all had a rose design, making it cozy and nature like.

A knocking sound was heard from the door of his room. He wondered if it was one of the 2 students. Maybe they skipped class? He was confused by how those on the surface would easily skip their time to have an education and learn.

"Hey new kid! Come out! I want to meet you!" The person shouted. They had a very feminine voice by the sounds of it. They sounded quite straight forward as well. Mairu was a bit hesitant about it all at first, but knew his armor would keep him safe if anything happened. He opened the doors to lay eyes on a girl, with black hair and silver eyes. She also had green leaf wings. He waved at her to greet.

"So the rumors were true. An iron giant attended the school." She smirked. "That doesn't matter. I'm Celine, Princess of the Leaf Fairies. And who might you be?" The prince of demons wasn't able to say exactly where he's from. He had to improvise on something. He began to sign.

'My name is Mairu, I am the Prince of the Magma Fairies.' Celine was shocked by how she could understand, just like Headmaster Mercury and Vice headmistress Mrs. Thorn.

"The Magma Fairies? I thought they went extinct a few years ago." She asked, getting suspicious of this mysterious new student. It was true, Magma Fairies are said to have gone extinct due to the lack of volcanic eruptions. No more active Volcanoes, no more Magma fairies. Mairu had to think of a good excuse.

'My father and I are the last ones unfortunately. We both managed to find a good Volcano somewhere far away.' He signed. His face was full of lies, but it was impossible for her to see that.

"Interesting. Well nice to meet you new kid Mairu. We're going to be roommates! There's another one of us here, but they won't come out for a while." She grinned. To Mairu's surprise, she made a rose with her magic. "Here, To match your armor design." She approached the armored boy and placed the rose at the helmet, it was stuck there now. She grabbed his hand and dragged him over to the main room mirror. "What do you think?" Mairu was lost for words, or- signs. He loved it.

'Wow! I love it Celine! Thank you.' he signed happily. Though his facial expressions cannot be seen, some of his emotions can be felt around in the room.

"I'm glad you like it. Well, I better get going before Mr. Pumbleton gets mad again. Not like I care in the first place." She said about leaving the main lobby. "See ya later!" Mairu waved as she left. The excitement of making new friends was rushing through his veins. His first friend in years...
